The IELTS exam is jointly organized by the British council, IDEP Australia, New Zealand, and Cambridge Assessment. The exam is conducted throughout the year in different countries. IELTS has different centres in almost 200+ countries to help test takers to apply for this exam. Moreover, it is one of the most popular choices among students and workers who wish to move abroad.

IELTS is a reliable and secure English language test that is accepted by 200+ countries including English-speaking and non-English speaking and also by more than 11,000 organizations.

IELTS Speaking Module

IELTS has four sections: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking through which the test aims to evaluate each dimension of the test takers’ English skills.

But if you are going to ask around among candidates which one they find hardest then most of them would be pointing towards speaking.

In the Speaking module, they are set with an interviewer face to face and have to answer their questions directly. It includes three parts:

#1. Introduction

In this part, candidates have to answer general questions about him and related to his daily life. This may include:

# Tell me about yourself.

# What are your weaknesses and strengths?

# Tell me about your work experience

#2. Cue Card

In cue cards, candidates are given a random card with a topic on it. They would be allotted one minute to think about it and after it they have to speak on it continuously. They cannot pass any topics and have to speak about what they have given.

For example,

# Describe a creative person you admire the most

# Describe the tallest building in your locality

# Describe an event where you were very happy

#3. Debate and Discussion

At last, they have to debate on a topic with the examiner. This topic would be related to the one given in the second part.

Describe A Creative Person Whose Work You Admire

Ielts exam cue card sample answer one.

Everyone is born with some creativity in themselves but only some are unable to use it. I am a creative person myself and therefore I usually have around with people of the similarities first but if I have to reckon on a particular what I would look like to talk about my aunt Rebecca.

Aunt Rebecca is an innovative woman I have encountered. Hardly she said idli and you can find her busy in pottery. The house is full of different pots, vases, pitch vessels, and many more even separate rooms in which she makes them and a separate room where she stores them. She even sells it online and in the nearby neighbourhood.

Pottery is the process where a potter makes a vessel using clay and other ceramic materials. It is made on the moving wheel where the potter gives them shapes by patting. It is an ancient practice but now people are losing the importance of it. But I like how Rebecca is trying to keep this art alive.

Moreover, I am quite inspired by her. Pottery is not only her hobby but also a way to become independent. She has set up a small business and sells pottery online. Her business even roared higher during the pandemic. She also understands that pottery is an important part of Indian culture. She doesn’t want this art to diminish and therefore she also gives classes to nearby children. I have also enrolled myself in her classes.

Thank you for giving me this opportunity to speak about a creative person I know. I have been counted many creative persons in my life but today I would specifically like to talk about my best friend Saloni.

Saloni is the most talented girl I have ever encountered in my life. She is a multi-talented person and is blessed with different skills such as cooking, painting, sketching, and many more.

But she is an exceptional cook. Well, cooking is a basic skill but she elevates it with creativity. She transforms a simple dish into a sophisticated one that looks more like an art. If you see your food you will want to glance at it more than taste it. Believe that food is firstly eaten by eyes, then nose and at last by mouth and therefore it should be appealing for all.

Though creativity seems to be a result of abundance and affluence, she denies it. According to her, people can do wonders with simple ingredients if they know what to do.

For her cooking is a medium to express herself. She expressed her love and care when she cooks food for her loved ones. She loves to do experiments in the kitchen fusing different cuisines together to form something new.

Once I tried her Indian-Mexican taco and that was awesome. She used Indian ingredients to create this delicate Mexican dish. She does such experiments often and that’s why you can easily find me in her room at mealtime waiting for her exceptional dishes.

Today I would like to talk about my sister. She is quite an artistic person and loves to create something out of nothing.

Every house produces some garbage such as papers, boxes, and old clothes. While most of the people throw them out, that causes landfills and pollution. My sister is completely different. She collects all of them and takes them to her workshop.

Here she and her friends create something out of it and transform simple garbage into a decorative piece. Let me give you an example to explain it. One day she and her friends set out in the nearby locality and ask them to hand over their useless items. They started in the early morning and soon they collected a huge pile of newspapers, boxes, colourful paper, plastic bottles, and many others.

They separate the garbage into different sections and start transforming them. They decided to make flower pots, arts, and different decorative things. She even asked me to bring my friends to see their work. I was just shocked at how well she was transforming a simple plastic bottle into a self-watering plant.

In the meanwhile, one of her friends made a wall hanging with those things as she instructed. After that, they took them to the market and sold them for a huge profit. She donates the money to the nearby orphanage.

Today I would like to speak about my mother. She is quite a productive and resourceful person. Though she excels in different things I am most impressed by her gardening skills

My mother was quite fascinated by gardening from childhood. She always wanted a house with a big garden. Though today will live in a house with no garden she stills knows how to fulfil her dream.

She does rooftop gardening. Rooftop gardening is a garden strategically constructed on the roof for decorative, food, or ecological purposes.

She has divided the roof into several sections, for instance, one part is for flowers, while the other is for vegetables and also one for ornamental plants. With the change in climate the colour of our roof changes. In summer the garden is full of different vegetables such as tomatoes, eggplants, pumpkin, cucumber, etc.

Banner

In winter, it’s full of greenery and roses. The most beautiful part is in spring where different butterflies and honeybees come to sip her beautiful flowers.

Through the roof is not quite spacious enough to grow everything yet she has adopted some modern ways to utilize each part and grow them in small places. She is quiet on the internet learning new ways of gardening and how to improve herself.

Her hobby not only makes our roof look awesome but it’s quite cost-effective. We don’t have to spend money on herbs, tomatoes, and seasonal vegetables as she has got ample of it. She also holds gardening classes to educate other women of the locality.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak today. I would like to speak about my best friend Deepti. She is a multi-talented person.

She has a list of skills including painting, calligraphy, acting, dancing, and singing. But she is a prolific makeup artist. She is quite a professional in it.

When she started doing makeup back three years she was a complete noob. Then for her makeup was only lipstick and eyeliner. One day, our school organized a fashion runway. Different girls participated in it and were looking fabulous.

Deepti got quite inspired by it and decided to learn this art. Makeup is an art. Similar to the art they use different brushes, create strokes, blend different colours to create magic. For makeup artists, their canvas is the bare face on which they create magic.

Now she not only does makeup for herself but for others too. She is called by my different friends to do the makeup and she does enjoy it. She has discovered that makeup is more than a hobby for her and therefore she wants to pursue a career in it. Next month, she is leaving to complete her studies as a makeup artist.

What is IELTS?

IELTS , or International English Language Testing System, is an exam for identifying the language proficiency of people willing to work or study in countries that speak English as the official language. The test, IELTS, which is designed by the British Council, IDP Education, and Cambridge Assessment English, contains listening, reading, writing, and speaking sections. This test is highly credible and is viewed favourably by educational institutions, employers, and immigration bodies across the globe.

What is an IELTS Cue Card?

IELTS Cue Card  or Task-2 of the Speaking module is the most challenging section because the students are given a card containing a topic and the prompts. The students are given 1-2 minutes to present the topic in a statement. A Cue Card is used to check the candidate's ability to speak, use different words that are more appropriate, and express ideas fluently. The topics can range from autobiographical stories to sharing my thoughts or discussing an issue.

Why Are IELTS Cue Cards Important?

The cue card segment evaluates your spontaneous speaking abilities without any preparation. So it is extremely tough. However, it is a crucial component that prepares you for real-life scenarios. Here are some advantages of cue cards in IELTS Exam:

  • Improves speaking fluency - you learn to speak spontaneously on a subject for 2 minutes.
  • Develops vocabulary - You need a solid vocabulary to talk exhaustively about any subject for 2 minutes. Cue cards assist in increasing vocabulary.
  • Grammatical structures: You must use accurate grammar to communicate coherently for 2 minutes. This enhances your grammatical range.
  • Thinking on your feet: You have only 1 minute to collect thoughts before speaking; this promotes your rapid thinking.
  • Real-world skills: In everyday life and professional situations, you frequently need to talk spontaneously on a specific subject. Cue cards prepare you for such circumstances.

So, to acquire a high band score, the preparation of cue cards is quite crucial. Even though the specific themes may differ, studying concepts and vocabulary on common topics can aid you enormously in the IELTS exam.

The test-takers are provided with a minute to prepare their answer, and following that, they can highlight key points they want to cover. The Cue Card section is tailored to evaluate not merely the proficiency in the language but also the candidate’s ability to organise his thoughts, sustain a coherent dialogue, and use language correctly and effectively to express one’s ideas. Generally, the IELTS Cue Card plays a big part in determining how well one has a command of English based on the assessment of the individual’s overall language proficiency.

IELTS Speaking Part 3: Follow-up Questions

Question: Is it beneficial for youngsters to study art?

Answer: Learning the arts helps them develop their future attributes such as creativity, inventiveness, independent thinking, emotional control, etc. It is appropriate for their overall development and provides them with a creative outlet in their spare time. If a youngster is too engaged in the arts, they may pursue that passion professionally.

Question: Do you believe you're an intelligent person?

Answer: I believe myself to be intelligent. People have appreciated my ability to paint and sketch.

Question: Do you believe leaders need to be creative?

Answer: Leaders must be unique. People will only follow them if their work is creative since they look uninteresting; yet, if they add originality to their job, speak, and do things, they will retain followers.

Question: What types of employment demand someone to be creative?

Answer: Everyone must be innovative in their employment. People who lack creativity may find their professions dull after only a few days. If a task has to be repeated on a regular basis, some ingenuity is required. For example, an engineer has to think of novel approaches to do things; a plumber must learn new skills every day to improve and simplify his work; a carpenter must learn new ways to do things to add grace to his work; and a teacher must believe of new ways to teach so that children are not bored.

Question: Should we support creative thinking in educational institutions?

Answer: Most students in a learning environment will be interested in various things. Some individuals are engaged in academics, while others are into sports and the arts. Consequently, it is critical to foster creativity in schools and universities so that students may study what they are passionate about.

Question: In what ways can parents support imagination in their children?

Answer: Parents can support imagination in their children by exposing them to different activities such as arts and crafts, music, and stories. Providing a conducive setting for discovery and testing develops their creative powers. Additionally, praising and valuing their artistic acts helps build confidence and a good approach towards invention.

Question: Do you think technology hampers or improves creativity?

Answer: Technology can play a dual role in creation. While excessive computer time may limit a person's exposure to real-world events, technology offers a stage for artistic expression. Digital tools and software enable people to make art, music, and creative projects. It eventually depends on how one uses technology – as a silent user or an involved maker.

Question: Is there a link between travel and creativity?

Answer: Absolutely. Travel introduces people to varied countries, scenery, and viewpoints, stimulating their creative thought. Experiencing new settings and connecting with people from different backgrounds can spark creative ideas. Many famous artists, writers, and scientists have drawn inspiration from their trips, showing the profound effect they can have on artistic efforts.

Question: How can companies support a creative atmosphere?

Answer: Workplaces can promote innovation by encouraging open conversation, welcoming different ideas, and offering joint project opportunities. Creating a comfortable and relaxed work setting, where workers feel supported in sharing their ideas, can lead to new solutions and a more involved workforce.

Question: Are there any downsides to emphasising imagination in education?

Answer: While developing imagination in education is important, there can be difficulties if it overshadows other essential skills. Striking a mix between innovation and fundamental information is important. Overemphasis on imagination might need to pay more attention to crucial academic basics. Therefore, a balanced approach combining artistic and standard learning methods is best for a complete education.

How to Write a Descriptive Paragraph About a Person (With Examples)

How to Write a Descriptive Paragraph About a Person (With Examples)

4-minute read

  • 7th January 2023

Describing a person or character is difficult for even the most successful authors. It requires a balance of words to make sure they shine through without the language being too heavy. In this article, we’ll look at how to write a descriptive paragraph about a person, share some examples, and talk about different strategies.

1.   Brainstorm Your Ideas

Brainstorming is crucial to any writing process. It’s the process in which you think of ideas for what you’d like to write about. In this case, you’re writing a descriptive paragraph about a person. It’s important to use adjectives to describe the features or characteristics you want to focus on.

One way to come up with ideas for a descriptive paragraph about a person is to go through the five senses. Use the questions below to get some ideas for what you want to highlight about your person.

Appeal to your reader’s senses – smell, taste, sound, sight, and touch

Smell: How does the person smell? Do they wear perfume? Are they doing an activity that would make them have a certain smell?

Taste: Do you associate a certain food with this person? Does it make you think of a specific taste? Can you taste something due to a certain smell they have?

Sound: Do they have a unique voice or laugh? Are they doing an activity that has distinctive sounds?

Sight: What prominent features do they have? For example, think about their dressing style, their smile, or their surroundings. What do you see them doing in your mind when you see a photo of them? What memories do you have of this person? Does this person remind you of something or someone?

Touch: What textures do you see? For example, imagine their skin or clothing. How does it feel if you hug them?

2.   Begin With a Short and Snappy Sentence

Like with any type of writing, you want to hook your reader so that they want to continue reading. In this case, you can use a topic sentence, if appropriate, to introduce your reader to the person. For example:

Or, if you want to be more creative, you can reel them in with a short and snappy sentence about this person. This is called a writing hook . This sentence should focus on a stand-out detail or characteristic about the person you’re describing. For example:

3.   Describe the Person

Now, this is the hard part. But, if you’ve brainstormed plenty of ideas and know which ones you want to focus on, it will be easier. Let’s look at some examples to get a better idea of how to write a descriptive paragraph about a person using the prompt “describe a person you admire.”

Comments: This paragraph is pretty typical of most students. It gives lots of visual details of the person and uses a simile or two (“ Her eyes are like the color of honey” and “Her smile shines like the sun” ). While this strategy gets the job done, it’s not very exciting to read. In fact, it can be quite boring!

Let’s look at how we can rewrite this to make it more exciting.

Comments: In this example, we focused on one defining characteristic of the person we are describing — her laugh. This strategy places more focus on the person you’re describing, rather than the adjectives you use to describe them.

4.   Edit and Revise

After you write your descriptive paragraph, be sure to read it over. Read it out loud. Read it in a funny voice. Doing this will help you to hear the words and identify which parts do not work or sound awkward.

5.   General Tips for Descriptive Writing

●  Avoid using too many descriptive words.

●  Remember to show the reader, not tell.

●  Appeal to the reader’s five senses – smell, touch, taste, sight, and sound.

●  Focus on a striking or defining characteristic.

●  Use contrasting details from other people or surroundings for emphasis.

●  Use literary devices (metaphors, similes etc.) sparingly and with intention.

●  Use a hook to reel your reader in.

●  Use a variety of short and long sentences.

●  Practice creative writing exercises to improve your descriptive writing skills.

●  Always edit and revise your writing.

Let's break down the prompt: "Every person has a creative side, and it can be expressed in many ways: problem-solving, original and innovative thinking, and artistically, to name a few. Describe how you express your creative side."

To effectively answer this prompt, you need to grasp its key components. Here are some points to consider:

1- Creativity is inherent in everyone: The prompt emphasizes that every individual possesses a creative side. This means that regardless of your background or interests, you have a unique creative aspect waiting to be explored and showcased.

2- Various forms of creativity: The prompt mentions different forms of creativity, including problem-solving, original thinking, and artistic expression. This suggests that creativity is not limited to artistic endeavors but can manifest in various fields and activities.

3- Describing your creative side: The prompt asks you to describe how you express your creative side. This requires you to reflect on your experiences, interests, and activities and explain how they demonstrate your creativity.

By understanding the essay prompt thoroughly, you can ensure that your response addresses all the necessary aspects and showcases your creative abilities effectively. Now, let's move on to exploring the various forms and expressions of creativity in the next section.

Defining Creativity: Different Forms and Expressions

Creativity is a multifaceted concept that encompasses various forms and expressions. To effectively address the UC admissions essay prompt, it's essential to explore and understand these different aspects of creativity. Let's delve into three key forms of creativity that the prompt highlights:

Problem-solving as a Form of Creativity

Problem-solving requires innovative thinking and the ability to come up with unique solutions to challenges. It involves analyzing situations, identifying obstacles, and devising creative strategies to overcome them. Whether it's finding alternative approaches to complex math problems or developing solutions to real-world issues, problem-solving showcases your creative thinking and ability to think outside the box.

Innovation and Original Thinking

Innovation entails introducing new ideas, methods, or products that bring about positive change. It involves challenging existing norms and conventions, pushing boundaries, and offering fresh perspectives. Whether it's developing a groundbreaking app, proposing a unique research project, or implementing innovative ideas in a social context, showcasing your original thinking and innovative mindset highlights your creative abilities.

Artistic Expression

Artistic expression encompasses a wide range of creative endeavors, including visual arts, performing arts, creative writing, and more. It involves using various mediums to communicate emotions, ideas, and experiences. Whether you express yourself through painting, dancing, playing a musical instrument, writing poetry, or acting, artistic expression reveals your unique creative voice and showcases your ability to interpret and communicate through different art forms.

By understanding and exploring these different forms and expressions of creativity, you can identify the areas where your creative strengths lie. This awareness will help you effectively describe and showcase your creative side in your UC admissions essay. In the next section, we will discuss how to accurately describe your creative side by identifying your strengths and using anecdotes and examples.

How to Describe Your Creative Side

Describing your creative side in your UC admissions essay requires thoughtful reflection and effective communication. In this section, we will explore how to accurately portray your creative abilities by identifying your strengths, using anecdotes and examples, and linking creativity to personal growth and future goals.

Identifying Your Creative Strengths

Begin by reflecting on your experiences and activities that highlight your creative strengths. Ask yourself the following questions:

1- What activities or hobbies do you engage in that involve problem-solving, original thinking, or artistic expression?

2- Have you participated in any projects or initiatives that required innovative ideas or solutions?

3- Do you have any unique skills or talents that demonstrate your creativity?

4- Have you received any recognition or awards for your creative endeavors?

Identifying your creative strengths will allow you to focus on specific examples and experiences that showcase your unique abilities.

Using Anecdotes and Examples

Once you have identified your creative strengths, it's crucial to use anecdotes and examples to illustrate them. Instead of making broad statements about your creativity, provide specific instances where you demonstrated your creative abilities. For example:

1- Share a story about a time when you faced a challenging problem and employed your creative thinking to find a unique solution.

2- Describe a personal project where you showcased your innovative approach or original thinking.

3- Discuss a specific artwork, performance, or piece of writing that exemplifies your artistic expression.

Using vivid anecdotes and concrete examples will make your essay more engaging and convincing, allowing the admissions officers to understand your creative side better.

Linking Creativity to Personal Growth and Future Goals

In addition to describing your creative abilities, it's essential to explain how your creativity has contributed to your personal growth and how it aligns with your future goals. Consider the following points:

1- Reflect on how engaging in creative activities has helped you develop skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, or adaptability.

2- Explain how your creative side has influenced your perspective on the world and shaped your values and beliefs.

3- Discuss how your creative abilities align with your academic and career aspirations, showcasing how they will contribute to your success in your desired field of study.

By linking your creativity to personal growth and future goals, you demonstrate the significance and impact of your creative side beyond the immediate context.

In the next section, we will guide you through the process of planning and writing your UC admissions essay, ensuring that you effectively convey your creative abilities and make a lasting impression on the admissions officers.

Planning and Writing your UC Admissions Essay

Planning and writing your UC admissions essay requires careful thought and organization. In this section, we will guide you through the process of creating an essay outline, writing the first draft, and revising and finalizing your essay.

Creating an Essay Outline

Before diving into writing, it's essential to create a solid essay outline. An outline serves as a roadmap, helping you structure your thoughts and ensure a logical flow in your essay. Here's a suggested outline for your UC admissions essay:

1- Introduction:

  • Grab the reader's attention with a compelling hook.
  • Provide context for the essay prompt and introduce your approach to addressing it.
  • Clearly state your thesis or main argument.

2- Body Paragraphs:

  • Start each paragraph with a clear topic sentence that supports your thesis.
  • Use specific anecdotes and examples to illustrate your creative side.
  • Reflect on the personal growth and skills development resulting from your creativity.
  • Connect your creative abilities to your future goals and aspirations.

3- Conclusion:

  • Summarize your main points and reaffirm your thesis.
  • End with a strong closing statement that leaves a lasting impression.

By creating an outline, you can ensure that your essay remains focused and effectively addresses the essay prompt.

Writing the First Draft

With your outline in hand, it's time to write the first draft of your UC admissions essay. Remember the following tips as you write:

1- Be authentic: Write in your own voice and be true to yourself. Admissions officers value genuine and original perspectives.

2- Show, don't tell: Use descriptive language and specific examples to illustrate your creative abilities. Engage the reader by painting a vivid picture of your experiences.

3- Be concise: Stay within the word count limit and prioritize the most impactful details. Avoid unnecessary repetition or tangents.

4- Edit later: Focus on getting your ideas down on paper during the first draft. Don't worry too much about grammar or sentence structure at this stage.

Revision and Finalization

Once you've completed the first draft, take the time to revise and refine your essay. Consider the following steps:

1- Review for clarity and coherence: Ensure that your ideas flow logically and that your essay is easy to understand.

2- Check for grammar and spelling errors: Proofread your essay carefully and use grammar-checking tools to catch any mistakes.

3- Seek feedback: Ask a trusted teacher, counselor, or family member to review your essay and provide constructive feedback.

4- Make revisions: Incorporate the feedback you receive and make any necessary changes to strengthen your essay.

5- Proofread once more: Before submitting your essay, do a final proofread to ensure it is error-free and polished.

By going through the revision process, you can refine your essay and make it as strong as possible.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

While crafting your UC admissions essay, it's important to be aware of common mistakes that can hinder the effectiveness of your essay. In this section, we will highlight three common pitfalls to avoid:

Vagueness and Lack of Detail

One common mistake is being too vague or general in your essay. Admissions officers want to get a clear understanding of your creative abilities and experiences, so it's important to provide specific details and examples. Avoid using generic statements or clichés and instead focus on providing concrete examples that showcase your unique creative side.

Overemphasis on Achievements

While it's important to highlight your accomplishments, it's equally important to avoid solely focusing on them. Admissions officers are interested in learning about your personal growth, creative process, and how you express your creativity. Instead of simply listing your achievements, delve deeper into the experiences, challenges, and lessons learned that have shaped your creative journey.

Neglecting to Answer the Prompt Fully

It's crucial to ensure that your essay fully addresses the UC admissions essay prompt. Sometimes applicants get carried away with their storytelling or personal anecdotes and forget to explicitly address how they express their creative side. Make sure to connect your experiences and examples to the different forms of creativity mentioned in the prompt, such as problem-solving, original thinking, and artistic expression.

By avoiding these common mistakes, you can strengthen your UC admissions essay and effectively showcase your creative side to the admissions officers. Finally, let's move on to the conclusion, where we will summarize the key points discussed and offer some closing thoughts.

Final Thoughts

Tapping into your creative side and translating it into words for the UC admissions essay can be a fulfilling journey. Creativity isn't just about artistic flair but spans a spectrum from problem-solving to innovative thinking. The core of your essay should be an authentic reflection of your experiences and how they have molded your unique creative expression. Remember, it's not just about showcasing your talents, but revealing the story behind them. Embrace the process, be authentic, and give UC admissions a compelling peek into your creative universe. IELTS IDIOMS GUIDE

For Describe a Creative person whose work you Admire IELTS Cue Card below are 2 samples on how to answer them.

Introduction: God endows each person with some creative ability.

Few people express their creativity in their kitchens, while others do so in the playground. A person's creative talent does not remain hidden for long. Even if creative people are shy about displaying their talent, others learn about them.

Who is he/she: Martina is her given name. Despite her age of 50, she appears to be in her late thirties. Her specialty is making useful things out of trash. She is constantly engaged in giving divergent shapes to waste products as a result of this habit.

What is your relationship with him/her: I'd like to talk about a creative person who has carved out a niche for herself. She is the mother of Andrew, my best friend.

What innovative things has he/she done: She spends a significant amount of her day working on various projects. She's made a zillion things out of plastic waste. I've seen beautiful decorative items made of 3-D origami that her mother makes regularly, and they appear to be magnificent. When I go to Andrew's house, I see a variety of products made by her mother.

Why do you think he or she is creative: I believe Andrew's mother's creative talent stems from her proclivity to put everything available at home to good use. She has decorated her terrace with flower pots made from recycled plastic bottles. Her house's decoration is based primarily on enticing items that are not purchased from a store. Her artistic ability is more than sufficient to enhance the beauty of her home.

Introduction:  I've always admired his desire to capture beautiful moments through his lens. His creative approach to photography has earned him industry accolades and recognition. I would like to speak about him.

Who is he/she: The creative person I'd like to discuss is my uncle, John, a well-known photographer. I've known him since I was a child,

What is your relationship with him/her He is my maternal Uncle.

What innovative things has he/she done: Throughout his career, John has done many novel things. A series of portraits he took of a remote tribe in Africa is one of his most impressive works. He spent months living with the tribe, learning their culture, and photographing their daily lives. The result was a stunning collection of images highlighting the beauty and diversity of African culture.

And why do you think he or she is creative: John is creative in my opinion because he approaches photography as an art form rather than a technical process. He has a keen eye for detail and an unrivaled ability to capture emotions and stories through his photographs. He is constantly experimenting with new techniques and styles to push the boundaries.

Describe a creative person whose work you admire IELTS cue card

describe a creative person essay

Describe a creative person whose work you admire

Ielts cue card topic, describe a creative person whose work you admire..

You should say Who he/she is? How do you know him/her? What creative things he/she has done? And explain why you think he or she is creative?

Sample Answer 1

Introduction :

  • God blesses every individual with some creative talent.
  • Few people exhibit their creativity in their kitchens, and some in the playground.
  • The creative talent of a person does not remain hidden for a long time.
  • Even if creative people shy from exhibiting their talent, other people come to know about them.

Who he/she is?  and  How do you know him/her?

  • Here I would like to discuss a creative person who has carved out a niche for herself. She is the mother of my bosom friend Andrew.
  • Martina is her name. Although she is 50 years old, she looks as if she is in her late thirties.
  • Her expertise is in creating worthwhile things from waste.
  • Due to this habit, she always remains engaged in giving divergent shapes to waste products.

What creative things he/she has done?

  • As per Andrew, her mother never sits idle.
  • She spends a sizeable portion of her day while working on various projects.
  • She has created umpteen things out of plastic waste.
  • I have seen alluring decorative items made of 3-D origami, which her mother creates regularly, and they seem to be magnificent.
  • Whenever I visit Andrew’s house, I see a different range of products created by her mother.
  • On my last visit, I saw her converting old clothes into tote bags .
  • The tote bag made by her was not only superb but also sturdy.
  • According to Andrew’s mother making tote bags out of old clothes is in fact upcycling clothes instead of recycling clothes. Because these days carrying tote bags is considered to be a style statement.
  • She has made it a practice to give tote bags to her near and dear ones as gifts.
  • Her business sense is also impeccable . She knows that a blanket ban on the usage of single-use plastic tote bags would be considerably high.
  • Andrew’s mother has made a significant impact on my life.
  •  And I have learned numerous things from her.

And explain why you think he or she is creative?  and  Conclusion:

  • I think the prominent reason behind the creative talent of Andrew’s mother is her tendency to put all things available at home into productive use.
  • With her creative talent, she has covered her terrace with flower pots made from used plastic bottles.
  • The decoration of her house thrives primarily on enticing things that are not bought from the market. Her creative talent is more than enough to enhance the beauty of her home.
  • The quality time spent with her would always remain etched in my memories.

Sample Answer 2

Being a creative person, I have this tendency of learning about other creative persons. Although I know a lot of creative persons, there is one such person who has caught my attention.

He is a famous sand artist from India, and his name is   Sudarsan Pattnaik. He was born on 15th April 1977. His native place is Puri district, Orrisa in India.

In 2015 I had watched a television documentary on his contributions to society. From that day, I have been following his updates on various social media platforms.

He has been doing creative work since 1988. He first showcased his creativity in front of the whole world when he participated in an exhibition in the World Travel Market held in 1998 at Earls Court, London.

Sudarsan has brought laurels to India in 60 global sand sculpture tournaments and festivals all across the globe and grabbed 27 championship awards for the nation.

And explain why you think he or she is creative?  and

According to my, he is a creative person because he thinks beyond the conventional domain. On the one hand, the rest of the world makes a lot of investments to create awareness regarding pressing problems of society, he does the same task by using his creative ability.

For example, he created an enticing sand sculpture on the Puri beach to celebrate International Tiger Day. Moreover, he made a marvellous sand sculpture of a tiger and uploaded the photographs on it on various social media platforms.

Through his creative talent, he has carved out a niche for himself as a sand artist.

Follow up Questions

Here are some examples of follow-up questions that the examiner might ask during your speaking part 3 related to the cue card “ Describe a creative person whose work you admire ”

1. Do you think you are a creative person?

I am a creative person since my childhood, I have been converting waste products into something worthwhile . For example, recently I made a bag from my old pair of jeans. Whenever I have something which has become obsolete, I use it creatively. Recently, I used an old CPU as a storage device in my study room.

2. Is it good for children to learn arts?

Learning art is a prudent approach for children because of two reasons. Firstly they can relieve their stress, as we all know in this contemporary epoch , fierce competition has become an integral part of our lives. A co-curricular pursuit like art can help the children feel less pressured. Secondly, it provides them with an opportunity to think beyond the conventional domain. And through art, they can hone their creative skills and lead their lives toward an impressive growth trajectory .

3. What kind of jobs require people to be creative?

Describe a creative person whom you admire.

You should say:

  • who this person is
  • how he/ she is creative
  • how you know him /her
  • and explain why you admire this person.

Sample Answer 1

Every individual is blessed with a creative mind that allows them to try new things and engage in activities that allow them to reach their full potential. Here, I’d like to talk about a creative person I admire.

My maternal aunt’s artistic abilities have always piqued my interest. She’s a multi-talented and creative artist who excels in practically every field, including cooking, painting, baking, pottery, sculpture, and upcycling clothing. To be honest, she has carved out a niche for herself.

My aunt has received many laurels from her childhood for her artistic skills. She has created many worthwhile products using waste products, made different paintings, sketches, and portraits, baked a delectable three-tier cake, and many more. She also handles social media accounts and runs a YouTube channel where she posts and uploads all the tutorials of her cooking, baking, sculpting, 3D drawings, and paintings.

In the booming world of the internet, where it is easy to create a business, I suggested she sell online. Her business gained massive popularity and grew tremendously, to everyone’s surprise. To sum up, my aunt achieved significant success through her online business. Recently, she gifted me a beautiful gown with 3D floral embellishments on my birthday. I was highly delighted when I got to know that the gown was upcycled using my mother’s dress. The prominent reason why I adore and admire my aunt’s artistic skills is her tendency and devotion to putting any product into use.

Sample Answer 2

I am currently working in Marketing field, which requires a lot of creativity and innovation. Thus, I have chances to work with a lot of creative people. Among them, there is one people I admire the most, named Tung Juno. His original name is Le Quang Tung, founders of a design agency.

The first time I met him, I was strongly impressed by his height, approximately 1.95 meters in comparison with the average of 1,70 meters of grown up man in Vietnam. He has graduated from FPT Arena Multimedia, a top school for commercial design in Vietnam. He is so passionate about this field that he founded a company named RIO Agency – providing design services like company branding material, name cards, and so on.

He is famous for his creativity with art elements. For example, from an image of number 8, he can give you 20 ideas of design in 10 minutes. Admittedly, this special ability has been made use of well in his career, making his company among top list in design field of Vietnam.

To many people, his ability is what he is born with. However, I believe that, without practice and nurturing in a right way, creativity can disappear. You help to keep it, and raise it like raising a child, hard but enjoyable. Therefore, I admire him not only because of his creativity but also the efforts he has made to keep and develop that ability.

  • In comparison with: while come with… Eg: Vietnam has low income per person in comparison with average income per person of all countries in the world.
  • Passionate: having very strong feelings or emotions: Eg: Joe is passionate about baseball (= he likes it very much).
