People say that student life is the most memorable part of their lives but as a teenage college student, I don’t agree with it. As a teenager who wants to live life to the fullest, I am just overburdened with never-ending assignments, responsibilities, and expectations. As much as I want to explore the world, I can’t find enough time to go out and relax a bit. The thoughts of good and bad grades always preoccupy my mind and I can’t get them out of my head. The only positive I can think of right now is my loving and caring friends who help me no matter what. The constant load of studies, never-ending writing assignments, and struggle to compete to get good grades is no fun to me at all. Student life is no joke, as being a good student and getting better education is not easy at all. In this essay, I will describe how it feels like to be a student in this modern world from my perspective.

Being a student is all about studies, school life requires hard work and discipline, but it can also be fun. Being a devoted student, I have developed a routine of getting up early in the morning, going to school following all the school rules, and coming home in the evening. My class usually begins at 10.30 am in the morning, since I live far from school so I take a bus to reach school. My friends and I like to sit in the front seat. On our way to school every morning we talk about different topics of interest until the time we arrive at school.

The classes begin with prayers followed by the national anthem on Mondays and Fridays. During class hours, the school remains quiet as we listen to teachers with attention before the first recess that goes for an hour. During recess, we engage in different activities to energize our spirit. In the afternoon, the lessons continue for four periods before the lessons end at 4.30 pm. Throughout the day, it’s a mad rush from one section to the other. We just keep on moving from the art room to music class and back to the general class.

I love weekends more than weekdays because I have enough free time to engage in some fun activities like going out with my friends or attending any social event. School is also not very dull and boring because we also have a variety of games, library periods, and recess time, which give us a break to take a breather and relax. Some teachers make school very exciting. For example, the fake British accent of our English teacher made us laugh every day. Being a young person I like to spend time with my younger brother during break time.

A student’s life is full of challenges. As a student, I think that I am overburdened by loads of homework and a lot of assignments. Forgetting about doing homework, getting bad grades, and failing to complete all other writing assignments put a lot of pressure on me as a student. According to research papers, excessive homework is directly associated with high stress and physical health problems in children and teens. I think the average homework that is given to us should be minimized and students must be given some time to relax. One more thing that I don’t like about student life is that there is no focus on being practical. As a student, I always learn more for seeing, touching, and experiencing things but we are only burdened by book knowledge.

The most enjoyable times happen the least in schools and colleges. I am talking about field trips, cultural programs, and local sports competitions. All these activities get us away from dull school life that consists only of book knowledge. All in all school life is about hard work, discipline, interaction, and fun. The fun part of school tends to be more enjoyable, especially after working hard the whole year. Parents should sometimes allow students to make their own decisions, it’s an important factor in their growth and can improve decision-making skills. Physically disabled students should also be given an equal chance to get a proper education. All things considered parents should realize that a child is not only born to study and he/she also has the right to happiness in life.

I don’t know where I will be after ten years but I don’t think that I can let go of all my college friends who have been together with me for all these years. I will also miss my teachers, our science lab, and the playground. All these memories when I think of them, I can almost say that I will miss my college days very much.

After pouring all the water I saw that they were not the students but our class counselor. My heart just sank and I started breathing heavily. Our class counselor was coming from the left and even my friend did not look at her. She looked at me very angrily and I just ran away at that time. After 2-3 hours I went to her, explained everything and said sorry for my mistake and she was kind enough to forgive me. This is the story about my student life that I will never forget about all my life.

Unfortunately, the students of our country are found deviating unexpectedly from the right path of life. They are, at random, used by the political leaders to serve their own purposes and for this, they cannot concentrate on their studies. They feel a great inclination in them to involve themselves into politics.

Students’ motives: The students in league with the political leaders are always running after wealth, fame and an established life on earth. They are also becoming aggressive from watching acts of violence on T.V. The leaders are backing the students behind and as a result, the administration remains slack for them. The advantages they can enjoy from the political leaders are a boon or a divine blessing for the students. Now they go to schools, colleges, and universities nominally.

Notions of our students : In the comparison of education with other countries we are lagging behind or more backward. Our firm faith exists more in illiteracy/ignorance, superstitious beliefs, blind support, and in keeping silence than real education, reason, argument, and social reformation. Our culture and tradition and outdated that fail to cope up with modern ones.

The strong greed for power, implementing private interest and over the exercise of power degrades our people especially political leaders and students from the real path. These also make people confused. Our students are being educated emotionally. They do not feel hesitated to be demoralized, crazy, mad with power, and what not.

Condition of institution: Almost all institutions are regarded as mini cantonment where the political leaders are the commanding body and the students are the soldiers to fight for them.

They are found kidnapping, hijacking, throwing acid towards young girls, raping, snatching away the lonely pedestrian, breaking discipline, disobeying the constitutional law, violating governmental orders, taking intoxicants and using unauthorized and unlicensed fire-arms, collecting illegal contributions etc. They are making an alloplastic infringement on social values supported by the big guns or underground and black power.

Reasons for becomings terrors: The students who involve themselves into nasty politics become terrors to the common people. The innocent and polite persons are victimized seriously’ by them. They in groups roam about in search of their prey. Many victims are beaten, shot, stricken to death to materialize their purposes. Without going on with their studies, the students drink wine, take drugs and smoke cigarettes by mixing with the bad companies. If the conditions of the students continue in such a way, we cannot expect the country’s prosperity, development, and future.

Removal of malpractice: To remove this malpractice, the good idea and conception should be given to the students that the country’s future and fate depend entirely on them. They should shun all bad norms of behaviors. They should make them exact men following the doctrines and lofty idealism of the great men. They should read the best authors and form stainless, spotless and excellent character. The govt. and empowered leaders of the country should keep them aloof from their touch.

They should pass a standing order for students so that they cannot be in politics. No terrorist should be allowed to go unpunished. The sanctity and holiness of the institutions in all respects should be maintained. They should be given to understand that they are the worthy sons of the country. One day they will serve the nation and the land.

They should be provided with job facilities after completion of their studies. There will be an arrangement for unemployment allowances. The govt, political leaders and solvent people should come forward to save the students from being spoilt by introducing vocational education, professional education, compulsory education, stipend facilities, and other necessary things.

Next comes the question of an academic institution that helps to spread education. It should be made free from terrorism. Bertrand Shaw said, “The only real tragedy in life is being used by personality minded men for purposes which you know to be base. All the rest is the worst mere misfortune and mortality, this alone is misery, slavery, hell on earth.”

Conclusion: Students are the future hopes and aspirations of the country. So they should under no circumstances indulge themselves in politics.

The Ultimate Guide to: Writing Essays

December might be my favourite month of the year. Festive cheer is everywhere, winter break is nearing and there are countless reasons for celebration.

For students, however, the turn of the month also marks something much less jolly: Essay season. Truthfully, spending my days glued to my laptop is seriously killing my Christmas spirit.

If you feel the same, take these essay writing tips as my gift to you. As a fourth-year humanities student, I’ve written countless essays and picked up a lot of wisdom along the way. From the resources you should be utilising to the writing processes you should be following, here’s everything you need to know to make deadline season a little bit merrier.

Decode first, write later

We’re starting with the obvious: make sure you have understood , not just read, the essay instructions before you get started on your assignment.

Deadline season means your to-do list is probably endless, meaning the temptation to frantically jump from one task to the next is completely understandable. Misunderstanding a word or misreading the wordcount or deadline date, however, will set you back a lot more than taking five minutes to re-read the instructions would. A bit more time checking saves hours correcting mistakes!

Take this from me, who didn’t bother to double check the meaning of a word in my essay question recently, and only realised after writing the plan that I had completely misunderstood what it was asking. Don’t make my mistake!

Make use of the University’s resources

Luckily for us, UoM has a vast bank of online resources covering all aspects of the essay writing process. It’s worth just browsing the University website to make the most of what’s on offer, but I’ve selected a few that may be useful below:

As you may have heard over the ALGC speakers, UoM library is currently offering a series of face-to-face workshops as part of its My Learning Essentials Program. Topics covered include critical reading, essay structure and referencing, with the full program available here ( Workshops (MLE) (The University of Manchester Library) )

The University Centre of Academic English has a whole series of activities created to support you in developing your writing skills, covering themes such as summarising, paragraph structure and even writing dissertations. The University has also created an internationally recognised Academic Phrasebook that is designed to be a “general resource for academic writing.” This is great if you struggle with academic wording and would benefit from some prompts to structure your ideas. There is a free, 54 page sample document available here, ( Academic-Phrasebank-Sample-PDF-2018.pdf (phrasebankresearch.net) ), or a more extensive version available to purchase for £5. I can’t vouch for whether it’s a worthy investment myself, but I’ve seen a few TikToks made by other students recommending the guide.

Planning is key

We’ve been hearing this since school for a reason: A plan is essential to writing a good essay. This forms the building blocks of your ideas, makes the whole process more efficient and ensures you are answering the question effectively.

I would recommend starting by writing a thesis statement, which is a few sentences long and answers the question in brief, clear terms by outlining your argument. This forms the central thread of the rest of your essay.

I then divide my plan into points, summing up each point of my argument with a few, concise sentences. I also include any relevant examples or evidence, theories or quotes from scholars that I want to include in that paragraph. You could structure this in a table or mind map, if your mind works a little more visually.

I tend not to plan my conclusion, because I have my thesis statement to fall back on, but also because my ideas might shift slightly as I write the essay.

If possible, getting some formative feedback on your essay plan well ahead of the essay deadline is crucial. Your lecturer may have offered the opportunity to submit a formative plan to them, which you should try to treat as if it were mandatory. If not, use their office hour to get some verbal feedback. This is a great way to reassure yourself that you’re on the right track ahead of writing, or raises any potential issues with your plan that you can then address before you start.

Reference as you go along.

We’ve all been there- frantically writing the footnotes and bibliography in the hours before an essay deadline, adding some creative license to the page numbers and adding any remotely relevant source you can find to bulk out the bibliography.

However, this can seriously harm your grade and put you at risk of plagiarism. Instead, ensure that you complete your referencing as you go along to ensure it is accurate and prevent the last-minute panic. This means noting down the sources for any quotes or ideas in your plan, and keeping a folder or list of all the texts you use throughout the whole process.

If you’re struggling with how to reference, don’t panic as there are plenty of resources available to you. Start by reading your department referencing guide, which you should be able to find on Blackboard or by asking your tutor, this will explain which referencing style you need to use. Online websites such as Neil’s Toolbox and JSTOR offer help with citations, and the university library also runs drop-in referencing support sessions.

All these tips will become impossible if you don’t give yourself enough time to write the essay. I can’t tell you how much time you need to allocate, because every subject, person and essay is different, but this is something you will learn the more you write.

I recommend putting all your deadlines into a calendar at the start of the semester and working backwards from there. For instance, allocate the three days before the deadline for editing work, the week before that for writing it and the week before that for planning. This does take some trial and error, so be generous with your timeline to allow for unexpected obstacles and changing personal circumstances.

I know how hard it is in the thick of deadline season, but you will produce your best work when you are calm, prepared and not in a rush. Be kind to yourself and try to be strict with your organization to make it easier in the longer term.

The part of our life that we spend in reciving education in schools, colleges, madrashas and universities is called student life. It is the most important period of life. At that period a student gathers knowledge, builds up his character and prepares himself for the future. So this period is the seed-time of life.

A student has many duties which to acquire knowledge is the best. This is why, he has to study hard. But he should not confine himself to the books only. During his leisure, he has to do other duties too. He should read newspapers, intersting books, such as novels; books on travels and poems. To take part in social service is his second duty. Thus a student must have qualities to make himself an ideal citizen.

Good character is the important thing in human life. If character is lost all is lost. Truthfulness is the best source of character. So a student must be truthful. He should be obedient to his superiors, companions and affectionate to his younger brother and sisters. He should avoid evil company by all means. He should keep good company.

A student should get himself involved in extra activities. This involvement makes him familiar with many aspects that can be derived from books too. Again without sound health nothing can be performed in life. So in order to buildup his body, he should take regular physical exercise. For this, he should take part in different games.

The future of a person depends on his student life. A student must know that knowledge is power. And this acquisition of knowledge comes through constant exercise of perseverance.
