The office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India is organising a National Online Essay Writing Competition to commemorate the occasion of Audit Diwas. Each year, 16th November is celebrated as Audit Diwas, as it was on this day in the year 1860 that Sir Edward Drummond took charge as the first Auditor General of India.

The essay competition aims to make the youth of the country aware of the institution of CAG of India and appreciate the contribution of the CAG in promoting public accountability and good governance. The competition will also give an opportunity for young minds to harness their creativity and expression of the ways in which the institution of the CAG can contribute to good governance.

Topics for the online essay competition for the year 2022 are as follows: A. The CAG: Helping India achieve Panchamrit - five nectar elements to deal with climate change B. The CAG: Realising the Constitution's vision, Enlivening Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav C: CAG@2047: Imagine you are the CAG of India in year 2047. What will be your strategy for the institution?

Participants can submit an essay on any one of the above topics.

The essays will be evaluated separately in English and Hindi.

Winners of the competition will be awarded cash prizes as follows: First prize: ₹30,000 Second prize: ₹20,000 Third prize: ₹15,000

There are no charges/registration for participation in the competition.

Eligibility: 1. The online essay writing competition is open to all persons who are currently enrolled in a course of study at any institution recognized by any University in India. 2. The participant should not be more than 25 years old as on 15.08.2022. 3. Employees of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department shall not be eligible for participating in the competition. 4. Only one entry from each participant will be considered. In case it is discovered that a participant has submitted more than one entry, all the entries from the participant will be disqualified.

Manner of submission: The participants would be required to submit six documents online as attachments in a single e-mail to the address: [email protected] . The details of these documents are given in paras 5.4.1.1 to 5.4.1.5. The subject of the e-mail should be written as “Audit Diwas 2022 Essay".

Entries may be e-mailed on any date till 15th September, 2022 by 5 PM.

  • To create awareness and enhance knowledge about India’s G20 Presidency
  • To increase understanding about India’s G20 Presidency
  • To encourage young Indians to relate to different parameters of G20.
  • Originality of thought and depth of knowledge
  • Quality of Content, Relevance to the topic.
  • Structure, articulation and writing style
  • The competition is open to only Indian Citizens.
  • The Essay can be submitted in either Hindi or English languages in the following categories/ age groups:
  • The length of the Essay must not exceed 1500 words.
  • The Essay must be typed in an A-4 size MS word document using Arial font for English and Mangal font for Hindi, having size 12 with 1.5” spacing and should be submitted in the form of PDF.
  • The participants must be the same person who has written the essay. The Essay should reflect original thinking and presentation.
  • The Competition is open to only Indian Citizens.
  • Category: 12 - 14 years of age
  • Category: 14 -16 years of age
  • All entries must be submitted through the MyGov.in portal only. Entries submitted through any other medium/mode will not be considered for evaluation.
  • A participant can submit only once. In case it is found that any participant has submitted more than one entry, all his/her entries will be considered as invalid.
  • The entry should be original. Copied entries or plagiarized entries will not be considered under the contest. Winning entries will also be suitably publicized by the G20 Secretariat/ Ministry of External Affairs.
  • There are no charges/registration fee for participation in the competition.
  • The Essay must be typed in an A-4 size MS word document using Arial font for English and Mangal font for Hindi, having size 12 with 1.5” spacing. The essay must be uploaded in the PDF format.
  •  Please note that the Essay must be original and should not violate any provision of the Indian Copyright Act 1957. Anyone found infringing on others’ copyright would be disqualified from the competition. G20 Secretariat/Ministry of External Affairs does not bear any responsibility for copyright violations or infringements of intellectual property carried out by the participants.
  •  Mention of the Author’s name /email etc., anywhere in the body of the essay will lead to disqualification.
  •  G20 Secretariat/Ministry of External Affairs reserves the right to verify original documents such as proof of age etc., before awarding the prizes.
  •  Participant is to make sure that their MyGov profile is accurate and updated since G20 Secretariat/Ministry of External Affairs would be using this for further communication. This includes details such as name, photo, complete postal address, email ID and phone number. Entries with incomplete profiles would not be considered.
  •  The G20 Secretariat/Ministry of External Affairs reserve all the rights and any dispute, amendments or any issue related to this competition / guidelines / evaluation criteria etc., shall be decided by the G20 Secretariat/ Ministry of External Affairs which will be final and binding.
  •  G20 Secretariat/Ministry of External Affairs reserves the right to cancel or amend all or any part of the competition/guidelines/evaluation criteria etc., at any time. 
  •  Any changes to the Terms and Conditions/ Technical Parameters/ Evaluation Criteria, or cancellation of the Contest, will be updated / posted on the MyGov platform. It would be the responsibility of the participants to keep themselves informed of any changes in the Term & Conditions/ Technical Parameters/ Evaluation Criteria stated for this Contest.
  •  If any entry is found to violate the guidelines, it will be removed from the evaluation process without giving any intimation or explanation to the participant.
  •  For Verification purposes original documents may be asked by G20 Secretariat/ MEA at any given point of time during the Competition process.

Topic : Future of Investments

Pick any one of the three themes and discuss how it will change the world of investment:

  • Emergence of technology and its role in shaping the future investment world.
  • Advent of ESG investing and sustainable finance.
  • Diversity and inclusion at the workplace
  • Share your vision on how the future will look like, what will change and how will it impact consumers and the society.
  • How do you see yourself contributing towards shaping this future?
  • Make sure to support your arguments with facts and data, and give due credit to their sources
  • It is advisable to have a mix of text, charts and tables in your article.
  • All entries will be evaluated by a core team drawn from CFA Society India’s senior women volunteers. They will endeavour to keep the evaluation process objective and consistent.
  • You will be assessed on the quality of your opinions, the ability to articulate your thoughts, logical reasoning and persuasiveness of your arguments.
  • Judges will favour original views presented in a lucid manner and supported by in-depth research.
  • All articles will be checked for plagiarism and if found guilty, will be penalised or in the worst case, disqualified from the competition.

Word Limit : Upto 3000 words in Calibri Font, Size 10.  

Submission format : PDF

Who can participate :

  • A woman CFA charterholder or;
  • A woman CFA charter pending or;
  • A woman CFA program candidate who has at least cleared the Level -1 exam.

Rules of the competition

  • Each participant can enter only one research note and one version in the competition.
  • Requests to allow multiple research notes and/or alternate versions will not be entertained.
  • The decision of the judges will be final. Participants will have no opportunity to challenge or appeal the decision made by judges.
  • CFA Society India will have the right to use content from all entries (whether selected as winners or not) on its social media handles.

The competition:

  • All entries will be evaluated by a core team drawn from CFA Society India’s senior women volunteers. They will endeavour to keep the evaluation process objective and consistent. They will select the top two entries from each them, i.e. six entries in all, for the final round.
  • In the final round, these six will be evaluated by a panel of external judges. These judges will be leading professionals in the financial services industry. They will select the top 3 entries irrespective of the theme. These 3 entries will be the three winners of the competition.

Grand finale webinar and prize announcements

The top three entries will be announced as winners at a grand finale webinar.

Each winner will get a chance to present their work to the audience.

Viewership for the webinar will be open to all – men, women, CFA charterholders as well as non-charterholders.

About the Competition

So this year’s essay challenges students to enable a just and transparent society, where they can live harmoniously with respect and integrity.

Now in its 16th edition, this is India’s largest and most prestigious school essay writing competition for students with prizes, with school students participating from 400+ cities, writing in more than 10 languages.

Essay Writing Competition Format

  • Two Phases: Showcasing Tata-linked films and essay writing
  • Participation: Students from classes 6th – 12th across 400+ cities
  • Categories: Junior (6th-8th) and Senior (9th-12th)
  • Evaluation: Essays assessed at school, city, and national levels

The online essay competition 2023 for students is a two-phase activity across all the participating schools in the country for students of classes 6th – 12th. The first phase consists of showcasing inspirational Tata-linked films which hopefully stimulate young minds to think about the nation through this online essay writing contest. Following this, the students are asked to write an essay on a given topic of national signi cance. To ensure a level playing eld, the students are divided into two participating categories across all languages (Junior - classes 6th to 8th and Senior - classes 9th to 12th). The essay, written only once by the students, is evaluated at school level and thereafter winning school essays are evaluated by judges drawn from independent academic and literary circles for city and national level, in each language, in this national essay writing competition by Tata Consultancy Services.

Rewards and Recognition in this Online Essay Writing Contest

Hospitality education under the banner of Government of India (the then Department of Food, Ministry of Agriculture) was started in India with the establishment of Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Pusa in the year 1962. Two more Institutes at Kolkata and Chennai was also established in 1963 by the Govt. of India. Although, one Catering College was established much earlier at Mumbai, in the year 1954 by the then “All India Women Council” which was an NGO working for improvement of the educational efforts for women and children and also for their social welfare. Judgement Criteria

All the essays will be judged on the basis of your logic, literature survey, writing style, innovation, structure, etc. Participants should write point wise with proper logic. We appreciate simple ideas but always discourage copied content even though it looks attractive. The essay should bring out all the details about a particular topic. Participants should do a lot of research before writing the essay. This will definitely enhance the knowledge of the participants in the specific field. Participants are free to create their own structure by providing all the information about the topic without copying from the internet.

Sub-Junior Topic: What is the best toy you’ve ever played with? What is so great about it? Do you think your other classmates would also enjoy playing with it?Word Count: Minimum 300, no limit on maximum words

Junior Topic: Imagine that you receive a letter from Hogwarts inviting you to come learn how to be a wizard or witch. Would you go? Why or why not? What type of magical spell would you be most excited to learn? Word Count: Minimum 500

Senior Topic: Write about the future in a world set 500 years from today. What kinds of technology do the people have? How are their lives similar and different to ours today? Word Count: Minimum 700

Last Date of Submission: 30th September 2022

Important guidelines.

  • The essay should be MINIMUM 300 WORDS for sub-junior category, 500 words for junior category and 700 for senior category. There is no maximum word count. The title word count and your personal detail word count is excluded from this limit.
  • The submitted essay should be plagiarism free/no copy from internet/unique writing. Plagiarized essay will not be accepted for the contest.This is to encourage participants to write their own essay. We highly discourage copying. SO NO CERTIFICATE FOR COPIED ESSAYS. 
  • Age proof is must. Name of school, school website or email is not mandatory but you are encouraged to provide email address of principal/administration. Our team will inform the school authorities about the result if the participant is judged winner or did outstanding in the contest.
  • You should write your name, grade/class, country, phone number, email, photo (optional) in your entry in the very beginning before you start writing essay.
  • If any participants wish to send pictures, they can add the images in the document itself. Sending pictures is not mandatory.
  • The decision of Jury member is the FINAL and no queries related to result will be entertained
  • Deadline for submission is 30th of September 2022
  • Hand written essays will not be considered. 
  • Selected essays will be published in the website with the name, photo and bio of the participants without the need of prior permission. Sending your essay to us itself gives us the authority to publish it from our side anywhere, online or in digital magazines. However, participant can tell in the very beginning that they are not interested in publishing the article anywhere.
