The 10 Best STEM Scholarships for High School Students

An education in the STEM field is a valuable asset. STEM, referring to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, permeates every aspect of our everyday lives. 

A STEM degree involves a high degree of technical training in various skills that will make you more employable, set you apart from other candidates when applying for jobs or graduate schools, and prepare you more than adequately for entering the labor market. 

The emphasis that STEM programs place on a hands-on approach to education, real-world problem-solving skills, and complex critical thinking provide STEM students with the tools they will need to navigate not just the employment market, but also life after college more broadly. 

A STEM degree is a wise investment in your future. Of course, it is also a pretty steep financial investment, and many aspiring STEM students may find that the degree is prohibitively expensive. 

On the bright side, there are many different ways that high school students who wish to pursue an undergraduate education in a STEM field can get financial support for earning their degree. 

Here, we have compiled a list of some of the best STEM scholarships for high school students out there. Read on to learn more about how you can find free money to finance your STEM education. 

STEM Students

NACME Engineering Scholarships

Each year, the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME) provides around $3 million in scholarships for students who belong to minority groups and intend to pursue an undergraduate degree in either computer science or engineering. They offer financial support to about 1,000 underrepresented students annually. 

NACME offers a number of different scholarships through corporate sponsorship from leading companies, including major employers like Apple, Google, IBM, and Proctor and Gamble. 

As the scholarships are offered through partnerships with top universities, participating institutions vary from scholarship to scholarship. 

To be eligible for any of NACME’s scholarships, high school students must be in their senior year and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a four-point scale. 

Breakthrough Junior Challenge Scholarship

The Breakthrough Junior Challenge Scholarship is a video contest open to students between the ages of 13 and 18 worldwide. To enter to win this scholarship contest, students must create a short, engaging video explaining a big idea in physics, life sciences, or mathematics. 

Video submissions may be in whatever format or style the applicant prefers, including animated short films, documentaries, skits, and so on. The video must be no longer than one minute and 30 seconds long. 

There are three prizes for being awarded the Breakthrough Junior Challenge Scholarship. First, the winner receives a $250,000 scholarship. The student’s teacher also gets a $50,000 prize. 

Last, the student’s school receives a $100,000 grant for the purpose of renovating or building a science lab.

Hyundai Women in STEM Scholarship 

The Hyundai Women in STEM Scholarship for high school seniors and college students who plan to pursue or are pursuing a degree in a STEM field. Each year, five students are selected to receive this $10,000 scholarship. 

 To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be legal residents of the United States and be at least 18 years old, or 16 with permission from a parent or legal guardian. 

To apply for the Hyundai Women in STEM Scholarship, applicants must submit an essay of no more than 500 words describing how their past and present experiences related to a STEM field have 

In the essay, students should explain how they will use their future and present achievements relating to a STEM field, including their degree, to impact others positively.  

AAPT Barbara Lotze Scholarship 

Offered by the American Association of Physics Teachers, the AAPT Barbara Lotze Scholarship is open to high school seniors and undergraduate students who plan to seek an undergraduate degree in a field of study that will pave the way for a career as a high school physics teacher.

The award for this scholarship is $2,000 stipend and complementary AAPT Student Membership for one year. 

Additionally, the scholarship is renewable for up to four years, meaning that recipients will have received a total of $8,000 toward tuition by the end of the scholarship.

To be eligible for the Barbara Lotze Scholarship, students must be citizens of the United States and have a solid academic record. The deadline to apply is December 1 of each year. 

Digital Responsibility E-Waste Scholarship 

The E-Waste Scholarship is an award of $1,000 for high school, college, and graduate students who submit a response to the following prompt: the most important reason to care about e-waste is… ?

Offered by Digital Responsibility, an organization that raises awareness for the impact of 

Technology on health, society, and the environment, the purpose of the scholarship is to encourage students to be conscious of the potential harm that can be done by what they choose to post on the internet.

The essay response should be no more than 1,000 words in length. This short, written response is the only required application material students will need to submit in order to be considered to receive the scholarship.   

Additionally, there is no minimum GPA, citizenship requirement, age requirement, or any other criteria for eligibility. 

Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship 

Each year, the Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship Program awards 200 computer science or engineering students $10,000 to help defray the tuition cost associated with earning a STEM degree. The scholarship is open to high school seniors, as well as first- and second-year college students.

In order to be eligible to receive the Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship, applicants must be citizens of the United States, demonstrate financial need, and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. 

High school seniors must plan to enroll full time at an accredited college or university in the US, and major in a STEM field.

Qualifying college majors include physics, engineering, computer science, and mathematics. 

Recipients of the Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship are chosen by Scholarship America, a philanthropic organization that assists students with securing financial support for college.

Lounge Lizard Web Design Scholarship 

The Lounge Lizard Web Design Scholarship is a $1,000 tuition scholarship awarded on a biannual basis. 

The scholarship is open to college students attending an accredited four-year university in the United States, as well as high school seniors who have been accepted to enroll at an accredited four-year school. 

To enter to win the scholarship, students must submit an original web design. All web design submissions must be created only by the applicant, but both past and present creations are permitted.

In addition to the $1,000 award, scholarship recipients also get the opportunity to take part in a design critique session with Ken Braun,  founder and chief creative officer of Lounge Lizard. The critique can be for any project of the recipient’s choosing.   

NextStepU STEM Scholarship 

The NextStepU STEM Scholarship is a college tuition assistance award open to any students between the ages of 16 and 22 who plan to pursue an undergraduate degree in a STEM major field. 

The award money is paid in three payments of $1,500 over the course of a year, amounting to a total of $4,500. 

Consideration for the NextStepU Scholarship is restricted to citizens of the United States and Canada.  High school seniors who apply for this scholarship must plan to attend either a four-year college, two-year college, or a vocational-technical school upon finishing their final year of high school.

In order to apply for the NextStepU STEM Scholarship, students must first visit the NextStepU website and register by filling out the appropriate form. Applications must be submitted between the beginning of February and the end of May each year.

20 Under 20 Thiel Fellowship Program 

Created by Peter Thiel, billionaire and co-founder of PayPal, the Thiel Foundation offers the 20 Under 20 Thiel Fellowship Program. 

Open to anyone under the age of 23, the program awards recipients $100,000, as well as mentoring from experts and professionals in the technology industry.  

The Thiel Fellowship comes with an interesting catch, however: in order to accept the Thiel Fellowship, students must drop out of college or take a minimum 2 years long hiatus from studies. 

The purpose of the program is to allow students the freedom to dedicate their time to make their ideas into reality, using the two years of the program to take a break from studying and start building. Each year, around 20 to 30 aspiring STEM professionals are selected.

Applications for the unique 20 Under 20 Thiel Fellowship Program are on a rolling basis. 

ASME Inspire Charles W.E. Clarke Scholarship

Offered by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the ASME Inspire Charles W.E. Clarke Scholarship is a $2,000 tuition award for high school seniors who intend to pursue an undergraduate degree in engineering or another related STEM field. 

The purpose of the award is to provide financial support for an aspiring young engineer in their first year of study at an accredited mechanical engineering program.   

To be considered for the ASME Inspire Charles W.E. Clarke Scholarship, students must provide evidence of their past leadership and involvement in STEM activities, such as clubs or summer programs. 

Students also must also demonstrate financial need for the scholarship to be able to go to college. Other application materials include their transcript for the first semester of senior year, resume, FAFSA, and a recommendation from someone other than a parent, friend, or relative.

What are STEM Scholarships?

STEM college scholarships are awards that focus on STEM fields. Students have to dedicate themselves to science, technology, engineering, or math major to qualify for these scholarships, increasing the odds they will contribute to the workforce in those areas.

Like any award, STEM scholarships make going to college more affordable. Scholarships don’t have to be repaid, so they aren’t debts like student loans. Plus, many can be used for costs beyond tuition, like room and board, fees, supplies, equipment, and more.

Some STEM scholarships have fewer requirements than others. For example, some are open to any student pursuing a qualifying degree while others target women, minorities, or other groups as well as making a STEM major a requirement. Additionally, certain awards are open to all STEM fields while others focus on specific segments, like engineering majors.

Together, all of those awards are STEM scholarships, aiming to make higher education more affordable for the students who will shape the future in so many ways.

Scholarships for STEM Majors

The most significant determining factor of whether your student is eligible for STEM college scholarships is their major. If your student isn’t interested in science, technology, engineering, or math majors, these scholarships aren’t the right opportunities for them.

However, if your student wants to be the brains behind new roads and bridges, software applications, scientific discoveries, or similar innovations, these awards can help them graduate debt-free.

STEM Scholarships for Undergraduates

Getting a STEM degree can be expensive. But, even if your student chooses one of the most affordable colleges with the best financial aid , that doesn’t mean they should take out loans to cover the cost.

Luckily, there are a variety of STEM scholarships available to undergrads, allowing them to start their education while keeping their out-of-pocket costs low. However, the precise eligibility requirements do vary, so your student will need to read through them carefully before applying.

Often, the reason for restricting the scholarship to higher grade levels is to make sure the student intends to stick with a STEM major. It isn’t uncommon for students to start with one major as freshmen only to realize it isn’t a good fit. However, the likelihood of a change diminishes with each subsequent year.

Additionally, some scholarships may restrict eligibility to individuals who don’t already possess a Bachelor’s degree, even if the funds would help them acquire a second Bachelor’s.

STEM Scholarships for Graduate Students

If your student already has a STEM Bachelor’s degree or simply wants to plan for their entire academic future, learning about STEM graduate scholarships is a wise move. Graduate degrees are often costly.

Thank you for the information, my son is currently in a freshman in high school and is in the Project Lead the Way Program for engineering and I wanted to get started looking for STEM Scholarships of which he may qualify.

This is good info, but be aware when applying for these scholarships the competition is fierce. One STEM scholarship that my son applied to had five winners and 10,000 applicants. He applied to 60-70 scholarships and received 1.

If you’re pursuing a degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics)-related program, there are many scholarships designed just for you. Here are twelve scholarships we’ve selected to help you fund your STEM degree: 

  • $2,000 PixelPlex Bi-Annual STEM Scholarship This scholarship was established to help support students pursuing education in STEM, as well as economics and business. In order to apply for this bi-annual scholarship program, students must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident; enrolled (or accepted with plans to attend) in a college or university in the U.S.; field of study must be related to STEM, economics, or business. Deadlines to apply: June 5 and December 5 (bi-annually). Amount Awarded: $2,000
  • UNCF STEM Scholars Program This tiered tuition scholarship is applicable for talented African-American high school students who aspire to earn STEM degrees and pursue careers in STEM fields. Amounts awarded are up to $2,500 per academic year for freshmen and sophomores, $5,000 for juniors and seniors, and an additional $5,000 for students whose academic programs require a fifth year. All applicants must have a demonstrated unmet financial need to be considered.
  • BHW Women in STEM Scholarship The Women In STEM Scholarship is available to women who are pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree and are majoring in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics during the 2021 school year. Applications open in January and are due each April 15th. The winner will be announced on May 15th. Amount awarded: $3,000
  • $1,500 STEM Scholarship Students aged 16-22 years old (at the time of entry) who are interested in pursuing a STEM major are qualified to apply. Entrants must be a registered user of NextStepU.com to be eligible. Amount awarded: $1,500
  • Procter & Gamble STEM Scholarship Undergraduate students attending an accredited four-year college or university within the United States are eligible to receive up to $5,000. This scholarship focuses on providing financial assistance to ensure students have access to quality education toward a successful career in the STEM industry. Amount awarded: Up to $5,000
  • LabRoots STEM Scholarship LabRoots wishes to encourage all students to stay in science and aims to help students work towards their research and educational goals. Applicants must be enrolled or accepted for a graduate or undergraduate degree for the next academic year at a recognized university, either in or outside the U.S. This program welcomes applications from students seeking support to cover expenses associated with their academic pursuits in a STEM field. Amount awarded: $1,000-$3,000
  • STEM Teachers for America’s Future Scholarship The AFCEA Educational Foundation will offer scholarships of $2,500 to students actively pursuing a graduate degree or credential/licensure for the purpose of teaching STEM subjects at a U.S. K-12 school. Amount awarded: $2,500 – $7,500
  • Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship Program The Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship program provides opportunities to students who want to build their talents and change the world. Lockheed Martin will award up to 200 renewable scholarships of $10,000 each. Awards are open to individuals studying eligible engineering or computer science majors, who demonstrate financial need and come from underrepresented or underserved communities. Applicants must also be open to outreach from Lockheed Martin recruitment teams regarding possible internship opportunities. Amount awarded: $10,000
  • Women Forward in Technology Scholarship Program The Woman Forward in Technology scholarship is designed to empower women entering the STEM field, which currently only represents 24% women in the career workforce. Their mission is to help women pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees in STEM programs achieve their education goals, which helps improve the diversity in STEM careers at large. Women, both U.S. citizens and non-citizens, who are attending a U.S. accredited university are encouraged to apply for a number of $3,000 scholarships. Amount awarded: $3,000
  • Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association Ralph W. Shrader Diversity Scholarships Full-time graduate students (women and minorities) currently working toward a master’s degree in STEM majors at an accredited college or university in the U.S. are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA, study full-time, be a U.S. citizen, and have hearing, learning, physical, or visual disabilities. Amount awarded: $3,000
  • Employment BOOST College Scholarships Employment BOOST is offering two quarterly $1,000 scholarships for graduating high school or current college students. One scholarship is open to students studying any major and is also eligible for students who are currently undecided in their course of study. The second scholarship is available to students who will major or are majoring in business or STEM. Students who apply must have a minimum 3.6 GPA. Amount awarded: $1,000
  • Gilman Scholarship The Gilman Scholarship Program broadens the student population that studies and interns abroad by supporting undergraduates who might not otherwise participate due to financial constraints. The program aims to encourage students to study and intern in a diverse array of countries and world regions. Veterans of military service are encouraged to apply, and preference is given to veterans when other factors are equivalent. The program has been successful in supporting students who have been historically underrepresented in education abroad, including first-generation college students, students in STEM fields, ethnic minority students, students with disabilities, students attending HBCUs or other minority-serving institutions, students attending community colleges, and students coming from U.S. states with less study abroad participation. Amount awarded: $1,000

Welcome to the Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship Program! Whether you are a student, parent, family member, instructor, school administrator, or just interested in STEM education, we are excited to share more about our efforts to support the academic endeavors of college-level learners across the nation.

Lockheed Martin  launched the STEM Scholarship Program in 2018  as part of investment in the next generation of STEM talent. We are committed to providing access to pathways through education and into the STEM workforce for all students, particularly those from diverse backgrounds and communities historically underrepresented in STEM fields.

In 2024, the STEM Scholarship Program will award $10,000 to 100 recipients studying an eligible STEM major at a 4-year college or university. Recipients may renew the scholarship up to three times for a total potential value of $40,000 per student.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants to the Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship Program must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • U.S. citizen
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • High school senior with a 2.5 or above GPA  OR  a freshman, sophomore, or a junior undergraduate student with a 2.5 or above GPA
  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mathematics
  • Current or planned full-time attendance at an accredited U.S. four-year college or university
  • Interest in a paid internship with Lockheed Martin following their freshman, sophomore or junior year of college, other circumstances notwithstanding (note: the internship is not required to receive a scholarship, and scholarship recipients are not guaranteed an internship) 

Selection of Recipients

  • Scholarship recipients are selected based on consideration of academic performance, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of career and educational goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances and an outside appraisal.
  • Additional consideration will be given to applicants who self-identify as members of groups that are traditionally underrepresented in STEM careers, including: Women; Racial and ethnic minorities; Individuals with a disability (as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act); Individuals that identify as LGBTQ; Individuals that are or will be first-generation college students; Active Duty U.S. military, including Reserves and National Guard; U.S. military Veteran, including Reserves and National Guard; Spouse of U.S. military Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, or Veteran.
  • Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America; in no instance does any officer or employee of Lockheed Martin play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
  • Lockheed Martin promotes equal opportunity and intentional inclusion.

Participants in Fund 2 Foundation UNCF Stem Scholars program

The program enables highly capable young people to pursue undergraduate STEM majors and prepares them for successful careers in a variety of STEM professions. The application is open for high school seniors who are entering college as college as first time freshmen in fall 2020.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be African American
  • Be a citizen, legal permanent resident, or national of the United States
  •  Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on an unweighted 4.0 scale
  •  Pursued a rigorous course of study in high school in math and science courses, including pre-calculus
  • Have demonstrated financial and unmet need as measured by the student’s college or university
  • Show evidence of readiness for and commitment to pursue STEM majors, including biological/life sciences, physics, chemistry, computer science/engineering, information sciences, engineering (industrial, mechanical, electrical or chemical), mathematics
  •  Complete all of the application essays
  • Arrange for a letter of recommendation to be submitted via the UNCF application portal
  • Be enrolled for the first time at a U.S.-located, accredited college or university (with the exception of students concurrently pursuing a high school diploma while taking college-level courses) in the fall as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student
  • -Complete and submit the application by the deadline of Friday, April 17, 2020, 11:59 pm EST/8:59 pm PST

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Submission of one letter or recommendation submitted by a high school STEM teacher or a STEM program sponsor/mentor (an individual who has engaged the student in a STEM program during the school year and/or summer, and who can provide insight into the student’s academic performance and potential for success in pursuing a STEM degree)
  • Completion of all essays
  • Completion of application form to include demographic information and student record of leadership and community service record

APPLICATION TIPS

Here are some things you can do to prepare for submitting a competitive application :

  • Begin thinking and talking to parents, counselors, and teachers about your plans and what you will need to do to be ready to be a strong candidate for college admission and student aid.
  • Carefully consider which of your teachers and STEM program sponsors to ask for a letter of recommendation. They will help us better understand what type of student you are by providing insight into your academic performance and potential.
  • Apply for federal student aid. Go to www.FAFSA.ed.gov to familiarize yourself with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and to get more information on federal student aid. If you are a finalist, we will use this form to confirm your citizenship and better understand your financial needs.-
  • Review your transcript to be sure that your GPA and the courses you have taken make you eligible for this program. And be sure to keep your grades you so that your mid-year transcript is favorable.
  • Let us get to know you through your essays and help us to better understand your interests, goals, motivation, and experiences that have shaped your decision to pursue an undergraduate STEM degree.

High school seniors planning to major in a STEAM field (science/medicine, technology, engineering, arts, or mathematics)

Scholarship Details:

The increasing role of technological innovations in our daily life cannot be understated, and by recognizing the significance of the arts, the STEAM field provides a vast amount of opportunity for those interested in it. NSHSS created this scholarship to honor those students who embrace and celebrate the STEAM field and thrive within it.

The ASME High School Scholarships are available for graduating High School (HS) seniors interested in pursuing engineering degrees. Students must be enrolled full-time in an ABET- accredited* or substantially equivalent** mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology program, no later than the fall after their senior year in high school. These awards will be for the first year of study (non-renewable). Scholarship Description Through the generosity of John W. Gracik, Life Member of ASME, a scholarship fund was established in 1992 in honor of his parents, John and Elsa.

Hey, y'all! Did you know that according to this study , of the 1.8 MILLION bachelor's degrees that were awarded back in the 2015-2016 school year, 18% were in STEM fields?

How cool is that?!

As a non-STEM person over here, I may be just geeking out a little bit, but I do think it's cool that nearly 1/5 of students were majoring in something related to the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.

I think the hope is that over the past 5 years or so, this percentage has grown even more and that it will only continue to grow over the many years to come so that we can continue to innovate, create, and do amazing things.

Because so much emphasis in recent years has been put on teaching students about careers in STEM, it only makes sense that a lot of large companies and organizations out there have been doing the same; teaching students about STEM through scholarships opportunities, and of course, awarding students who have shown interest and commitment to their field. If you're a current or incoming STEM student, luckily for you, there is no shortage of scholarships out there for you to apply for.

In this post, I highlight just a few of the main ones to help you get your search started.

STEM scholarships in month-order

Employment boost stem scholarship.

Amount : $1,000

Deadline : Quarterly (applications accepted all year round) 

High school students who have been accepted to college and students who are currently enrolled in a college or university are eligible to apply for the Employment BOOST college scholarship program.

Applications are accepted year-round, with quarterly deadlines of April 1st, July 1st, October 1st, and January 1st, and must be received within the time frame to be considered eligible to be awarded that quarter.

Virginia Space Grant Consortium (VSGC) Graduate Research STEM Fellowship Program

Amount : $6,000

Deadline : January 29

This STEM Fellowship Program provides fellowships of $6,000 in add-on support to graduate students to supplement and enhance basic research support. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in a program of study in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) and have a specific faculty-mentored research project that has NASA or aerospace relevance. Allied Health Sciences majors are not eligible for this program.

SME Education Foundation Scholarships (Multiple)

Amount : N/A 

Deadline : February 1 

Eligibility : Current undergraduates pursuing a manufacturing career and matriculating in engineering-related courses at four-year colleges and universities within the United States or Canada. Some of the scholarships are also open to high school seniors.

Society for Women Engineers Scholarship Program

Amount : varies

Deadline : varies, but some close around February 14

The SWE Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to those who identify as a female/woman and are studying community college, baccalaureate, or graduate programs in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology,  and computer science. In 2019, SWE awarded nearly 260 new and renewed scholarships valued at over $810,000.

SWE provides one application for sophomores through graduate students and one application for freshmen.  Applicants complete an application and are considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.

Jack and Jo Damann National Scholarship

Amount :$5,000

Deadline : March 1

This scholarship is for a full-time college student pursuing an Engineering degree, a STEM degree, or a Business degree with a marketing emphasis. Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.7 and be a citizen of the United States.

Proctor and Gamble STEM Scholarship

Amount:  up to $5,000

Deadline:  March 9

This scholarship is focused on providing financial assistance to ensure students have access to quality education that will lead them down a pathway toward a successful career in one of the many sectors within the STEM industries.

The candidates must be enrolled as undergraduate students during the 2020-21 Academic year.

Community College STEM Scholarships

Amount :$2,000

Deadline : March 12

The Community College STEM Scholarship provides a one-year, non-renewable award of $2,000 for students enrolled full time during the award period at one of Virginia’s Community Colleges. Students must be majoring in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) field and be interested in pursuing a career that supports NASA’s mission including careers in the aerospace sector.

Students must apply during their second semester of freshman year of community college enrollment for an award that will begin in the sophomore year.

NSHSS STEAM SCHOLARSHIP

Amount:  $1,000

Deadline:  March 15

Tau Beta Pi/SAE Engineering Scholarship

Amount:  $1,500

Six scholarships valued at $1,500 each will be awarded for the freshman year of college only.

Applicants must have a 3.75 GPA, rank in the 90th percentile in both math and critical reading for SAT scores or for composite ACT scores, and pursue an engineering program accredited by the engineering accreditation commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

Latinos in Technology Scholarship

Amount : Up to $30,000 (paid over three years, provided renewal eligibility requirements are met)

Deadline : March 19

This ~mini full-ride scholarship ~ scholarship is for Latino(a) students who have a declared major in a science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)-related field. 

Samsung @ First Scholars Program

Amount : up to $15,000

For undergraduate or graduate students with a declared major in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM). Must be planning to enroll on a full-time basis (as defined by the program of study) in a California, public four-year college/university.

Emmy Noether Awards

Amount : Up to $75,000 ($25,000 for silver medalists, $75,000 for gold)

Deadline : March 26

The Emmy Noether Awards seek top aspiring female research scientists in any STEM (science, technology, engineering, or math) field to help realize their potential careers through financial and networking assistance.

Up to 13 awards will be given out. Must be a current senior in high school either living in or attending school in one of the following states: Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana.

Zuckerman Postdoctoral Scholars Program

Amount : approximately $52,000

Deadline : March 31 

The Zuckerman Postdoctoral Scholars Program attracts high-achieving postdoctoral scholars from premier universities in the United States and Canada to do research at one of seven Israeli universities. Once they complete their research, many Zuckerman postdocs are expected to accept faculty positions at top North American universities, weaving a network of academic collaboration and goodwill that will greatly benefit US-Israeli scientific cooperation.

GreyCampus Women in Technology Scholarship

Amount : Varies

Currently, women make up less than 30% of the workforce in new-age technologies. GreyCampus is offering 100 scholarships for women across the world to advance their careers in new-age technologies. These are 100% (full-fee waiver) scholarships for the Data Science and Full Stack Development Career Programs. Must be at least 21 years old

BAFTX Graduate Awards

Amount : N/A

The graduate award is designed for aspiring individuals from the UK or Texas, USA who are intent on furthering their education in their chosen STEM or business field.

This is an opportunity for students to study at graduate level, whether Texas residents in Texas, Texas residents in the UK or UK residents in Texas.

Women in Technology Scholarship

Amount : up to $2,500 per recipient

Deadline : April 1

Must be planning a career in computer science, information technology, management information systems, or other related fields. 3.0 GPA or higher required. The WITS Program will grant multiple scholarship awards that value up to $2,500.00 per recipient.

Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship Program

Amount : $10,000

The Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship program provides opportunities to students who want to build their talents and change the world! Lockheed Martin will award up to 200 renewable scholarships of $10,000 each.

Awards are open to individuals studying eligible engineering or computer science majors, who demonstrate financial need and come from underrepresented or underserved communities. Applicants must also be open to outreach from Lockheed Martin recruitment teams regarding possible internship opportunities.

Intertech STEAM Scholarships

- Cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 or higher

-An intent to study computer science

BHW Women in STEM Scholarship

Amount : $3,000

Deadline : April 15

The Women In STEM Scholarship is available to undergraduate and graduate female students . You must be pursuing a degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics to be eligible for this award.

International students can apply as long as they are attending a US-based school. If your college is not a US-based organization, you cannot apply at this time. US-based programs offering study abroad are allowed.

Great Minds in STEM Scholarships

Amount : $500 - $10,000

Deadline : April 30

-Applicants must demonstrate merit through academic achievements, leadership and campus/community activities

-Applicants must be pursuing a science, technology, engineering or math  degree

-Applicants must have an overall minimum GPA  of  3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale

-Applicants must be of Hispanic descent and/or   must demonstrate significant leadership or service within the underserved community

-Recipients must be enrolled in a STEM undergraduate or graduate program for the upcoming fall semester, at an accredited 2-yr or 4-yr college/university in the U.S. or its territories .

The GMiS Scholars Program accepts applicants who are U.S. citizens, U.S. residents, F1 Visa, or DACA status.

CodeWizardsHQ STEM Scholarship

Amount : $2,500

Deadline : May 1

-Open to high school seniors and incoming college freshmen

-GPA must be 3.5 or higher 

-Scholarship is based on financial need

-Priority is given to students who are majoring in a STEM-related field

Thermo Fisher Scientific Antibody Scholarship

Amount : up to $10,000

Deadline : May 5

-Open to graduate and undergraduate students

-Must be studying biology, chemistry, biochemistry or a related life science field

-Minimum 3.0 GPA

STEM Teachers for America's Future Scholarship

Deadline : May 31

The AFCEA Educational Foundation is offering competitive based scholarships of $2,500 each to students actively pursuing a graduate degree or credential/licensure for the purpose of teaching STEM (science, technology, engineering or math) subjects at a U.S. school in grades K-12.

LabRoots STEM Scholarship

Amount : average $2,000

Deadline : September 3 

The program welcomes applications from students seeking support for to cover expenses associated with their academic pursuits in a STEM field. The scholarship will fund one undergraduate or graduate student for one year, providing $1,000-$3,000 in direct costs.

NSHSS INNOVATION IN TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP

Amount: $2,000

Deadline:  September 30

Technology is everywhere in today’s society. Whether it be behind the scenes with coding and software programming, or easily demonstrated through AI and robotics, tech can be an asset and sometimes a liability or distraction. NSHSS wishes to honor our students devoted to tech to tell us all about their passions for the field.

Open to high school seniors and college freshmen, sophomores, juniors with a dedicated passion for AI, technology, coding, and more.

Orangesoft Scholarship for Women in Technology

Amount: $1,000

Deadline:  October 31

Orangesoft offers a scholarship dedicated to female college or university students pursuing STEM, or other technology-related studies and careers. This scholarship will help a high school or university female student to achieve their goal in their future career in a technical field.

Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be accepted to or studying at an accredited university in the US.

Tech for Good Scholarship

Amount: $5,000

Deadline:  November 15

Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a technology-related course at any accredited US university. 

Grants for Disabled Graduate Students in the Sciences

Deadline:  December 1

The Student Award Program of FSD helps to increase opportunities in science, engineering, mathematics, technology, and pre‑medical/dental areas for fourth-year undergraduate or graduate students with disabilities.

PixelPlex $2,000 Bi-Annual STEM Scholarship

Deadline: December 5

Eligibility: The $2000 PixelPlex Bi-Annual STEM Scholarship was established to help support and inspire students to pursue further education in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), as well as economics and business. One student will be chosen from the applicant pool and will be awarded based on the strength of their written essay. The selected student will receive 2,000 USD to help cover education-related expenses.

Women in STEM face a number of challenges , one of them being the high cost of education. Thankfully, a number of organizations have stepped up to offer financial assistance for women pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering in mathematics.

1. science ambassador scholarship, who can apply.

High school seniors and undergraduate students are eligible to apply for the  Science Ambassador Scholarship  funded by  the game company Cards Against Humanity . Applications open in the fall.

How to Apply

Make an accurate, creative and clear educational video where you explain a STEM topic like a classroom lecturer that aims to teach your viewers about the topic. Novel and memorable approaches will score points with the judges, and you won’t get dinged if your video production quality is lackluster.

If you want to win, focus on effective communication and scientific accuracy, according to Maria Ranahan, director of the Science Ambassador Scholarship program. Each of these points are essential for applicants to demonstrate.

Carefully read the  application requirements . The judges won’t review your video if it’s longer than three minutes, or if it’s listed as private on YouTube.

You’ll find  past winners online — watch their videos to get a feel for what it takes to win. Scholarship winner Gabrielle Chang gave a quick rundown on how cybersecurity attacks occur using cross-site scripting (XSS).

Other scholarship winners, like Sala Ba covered  conservation of angular momentum , while Eva Smerekanych stepped into the  fourth dimension with her video. Laura Chen, another scholarship winner, peered into the  properties of slug slime .

Scholarship Prize

The winner receives a four-year full-ride tuition scholarship while the runners-up earn one-time tuition stipends of $1,000 to $5,000.

2. Virginia Heinlein Memorial Scholarship 

The Virginia Heinlein Memorial Scholarship isn’t strictly limited to female applicants, but it is dedicated to supporting women in STEM fields, and has a greater number of female applicants as a result. Current high school seniors and undergraduate students of any country are welcome to apply, but they must plan to attend a full-time engineering, math, physical or biological sciences program at an accredited college within the following academic calendar year.

Former applicants and winners can apply again, but they have to write on a different subject than in their previous application. Candidates also cannot apply if they already have a bachelor’s degree.   

Interested students must complete the online application, summarizing their career goals and background before writing an essay of 500 to 1,000 words. For the essay, students must choose to answer one of several questions, which range from asking students to reflect on how their field can improve people’s lives to encouraging them to engage with a quote from Robert Heinlein.  

Four winners are chosen, and each gets a $4,000 scholarship. Recipients can spend this money however they like to cover college expenses.

3. Hyundai Women in STEM Scholarship

The Hyundai Women in STEM scholarship is open to high school seniors and undergraduate students in the United States. 

Navigate to the scholarship page to begin your application. As part of the application process, write a 500-word essay on how you think STEM can be used to enhance mobility technologies and improve communities as a result. 

Five winners are selected to receive $10,000 each. The $10,000 scholarship covers tuition and fees. For an idea of how popular the scholarship has become, over 6,000 applicants applied for the 2021 Hyundai Woman in STEM scholarships.

“This is a very competitive scholarship and there are many deserving applicants with substantial accomplishments,” said Monique Kumpis, senior group manager brand marketing and advertising for Hyundai Motor America. “The winners have not only excelled in their higher education endeavors, but they have a track record of helping their community through STEM.”

4. Amazon Future Engineer

The Amazon Future Engineer scholarship program is open to U.S. high school seniors who have completed, or are in the process of completing, a computer science, engineering or robotics dual-degree course. If someone is interested in applying for the scholarship program, but has not done an eligible dual-degree course, they can take an Amazon assessment to qualify.

Although women in STEM are not specifically targeted for the scholarship, gender and racially diverse applicants are eligible to apply..

Applications open in the fall. Applicants need to demonstrate financial need and have plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering , computer engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics or another related field at an approved four-year college or a two-year college with the goal of transferring to a four-year college.

Some tips: Seek your teacher’s recommendation report early so they will have time to finish it before the scholarship deadline; show your passion by sharing computer science activities you’ve participated in, whether that’s hackathons or coding; explain where you want to go with your computer science degree; and research the company, since one essay question asks about Amazon’s leadership principles, while another wants you to share how you’d solve a big problem with software.

A $40,000 scholarship spread over four years was awarded to 400 recipients in 2023 under the Amazon Future Engineer scholarship program. Scholarship winners also receive a guaranteed paid internship at Amazon after their freshman year.

5. BHW Women in STEM Scholarship

The BHW Group’s  Women in STEM scholarship is available to any woman pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a STEM field. The application period starts in January.

You’ll need to write an essay between 500 to 800 words, either formal or informal, and select one of two topics. Tell BHW about your favorite app and why you like it or about the time when an app played a significant role in improving your day.

The $3,000 award is paid directly to the scholarship recipient’s school.

6. MPower Financing Women in STEM Scholarship

International students or students who are protected under DACA who have been accepted into a STEM degree program at one of the  hundreds of universities MPower Financing partners with can apply for the MPower  MPower Financing Women in STEM Scholarship . 

Eligible fields of study include any branch of biology, chemistry, physics, geology, physical sciences, agricultural science, computer science, data science, engineering, or applied or theoretical mathematics. The program is open to students studying for their bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degrees.

The application includes a 200-to-500-word essay discussing the applicant’s STEM-related accomplishments and career aspirations and how they plan to “empower women in science and technology” through their work and studies. Criteria for selecting winners include “potential to make significant contributions in a STEM field that will benefit people and/or the planet” along with a “track record and/or potential as a role model and advocate for women and girls in STEM.”

MPower awards a grand prize of $6,000 as well as $2,000 for runner-up and $1,000 for honorable mention.

7. Joseph F. Mulach, Jr. and Louisa A. Mulach Scholarship Fund

The  Joseph F. Mulach, Jr. and Louisa A. Mulach Scholarship Fund is available to current undergraduate or graduate students in biological sciences, chemistry, mathematics, physics or genetic research at one of the following schools:

  • Carlow University
  • Carnegie Mellon University
  • Chatham University
  • Seton Hill University
  • University of Pittsburgh

Funded by The Pittsburgh Foundation, the scholarship is open to all who meet the criteria, but preference is given to women. The application period lasts from January through March.

A high percentage of the scholarship awards have been given to women since 2002 when the fund was formed, said Kitty Julian, a spokesperson for The Pittsburgh Foundation, which manages over 300 scholarship funds.

The application process involves submitting an academic reference letter, unofficial transcripts and an essay.

“In general, essays are what set applicants apart, because they provide a space for students to express who they truly are and the impact that scholarship funds will have on their lives,” Julian said. “Students should take full advantage of the essay prompts by offering details about themselves which can make them stand out from the competition.”

Jocelyn Paonita Pearson, founder of  The Scholarship System , also provided perspective on what scholarship committees are looking for when evaluating your women in STEM scholarship applications.

“Scholarship committees want to select winners that will take the funding and make something of it,” Pearson said. “In other words, they want to know that the recipient has future plans and the grit and passion to follow through with them. This will be especially true when focusing on scholarships related to STEM.”

The scholarship yields an average yearly award of $2,000. The Pittsburgh Foundation encourages recipients to reapply for the scholarship.

8. Zonta International Women in STEM Scholarship

Zonta International’s Women in STEM Scholarship is available to any woman, regardless of age and nationality. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in a STEM program at an accredited higher ed institution, “demonstrate outstanding potential” and live near a Zonta chapter.   

How to Apply 

Interested applicants must locate and contact their nearest Zonta chapter to receive details for submitting their applications. Among the list of required documents , applications must include a faculty recommendation letter , a 500-word essay on your background and how it relates to STEM, and official grade transcripts. 

Each application is reviewed by regional Zonta committees. One application per Zonta region is then sent to be evaluated by the Zonta International Headquarters team, which determines the winners from the batch of top applicants.    

Up to 32 winners earn a scholarship of $5,000 each. This money goes toward school expenses like tuition, books and room and board. Recipients are not allowed to defer this scholarship. 

9. Orchard Scholarship for Women of Color in STEM

Orchard’s scholarship for women of color in STEM is broken into two segments — a fall scholarship available to undergraduate students enrolled in a STEM program and a spring scholarship available to high school seniors interested in studying in a STEM field for college. For both scholarships, students must meet enrollment and academic requirements and include their transcript in their application.    

Along with a transcript, each applicant must submit an essay between 400 and 800 words that explains why they’re interested in STEM and what their career goals are. 

Orchard chooses three winners for both its fall and spring scholarships. The top applicant receives $2,500, second place receives $1,000 and third place receives $500. 

10. Shared Opportunities Women of Color in STEM Scholarship

Shared Opportunities is a nonprofit dedicated to creating more opportunities for women of color to break into STEM fields . The organization offers a Women of Color in STEM Scholarship open to any woman of color who is currently an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a STEM degree at a U.S. higher ed institution.  

Applicants must submit a transcript and one letter of recommendation along with their application. Two essays are also part of the online application , where interested applicants can learn more details.   

One winner is selected to receive a $2,500 scholarship, which they can use toward school-related expenses. 

11. Society of Women Engineer Scholarships

The  Society of Women Engineers (SWE) scholarships page connects students to more than 300 individual scholarships. SWE’s scholarship application is open to women and applicants who identify as women and are undergraduate or community college students planning to study engineering, engineering technology or related fields at an ABET-accredited program in the upcoming academic year. Masters and PhD candidates face similar requirements.

You only need to fill out one online application to automatically be placed in a pool for all of the scholarships you may be eligible for. Applicants must also include recommendation letters from a faculty member and a personal connection. SWE judges evaluate applicants on three main criteria: academic preparation, leadership and activities and, of course, an interest in STEM. 

“The academic preparation comes across through the transcript and resume, while activities and work experiences are inputs from the applicant. The interest in engineering should be apparent through the personal statement. The letters of recommendation generally supplement all categories,” said the SWE spokesperson.

The potential awards include the $19,000  Lillian Moller Gilbreth Memorial Scholarship and the $3,000  B.J. Harrod Memorial Scholarship .

Resources for Finding Women in STEM Scholarships

Tracking down scholarship opportunities can be time-consuming, but university or high school departments and advisers can provide resources to steer your search in the right direction.  

“When looking for STEM scholarships, the best place to look first is your own university departments. While many colleges award scholarships along with admission, there are also many scholarships specifically for upperclassmen. The only way to learn about these is to ask your department,” Pearson said. 

You can also look to STEM-related associations or organizations for women as sources of scholarship funding for women pursuing degrees in STEM fields. Examples include the  Association for Women in Science , International Technology Engineering Association  and  American Chemical Society .

Professional associations and organizations such as the  American Society of Civil Engineers ,  American Society of Mechanical Engineers , IEEE Computer Society ,  American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and  Information Systems Security Association also award scholarship money.

STEM Scholarships for High Schoolers

A high school education equips students with critical knowledge and life skills, whether they choose to go into higher education or not. However, with almost two-thirds of U.S. high schoolers going to college or university after graduating, it’s clear that preparation for the next step in education is a big part of the high school experience.  

Since higher education can be very expensive, many high school students apply for a scholarship, a type of financial aid package given by various organizations to help ease the economic burden of education. Students participating in STEM subjects can benefit from STEM scholarships, which may be awarded based on academic achievement in their subjects, diversity, or financial need.  

This article looks at how students can find and apply for STEM scholarships during the latter years of high school.  

Notable STEM Scholarships for High Schoolers  

Although only a select group of STEM students may end up receiving scholarships (around 7% of all college students who apply are accepted) there are several options out there. Here we look at some major national awards and a handful of programs created especially for minority STEM students.  

National STEM Scholarships  

National merit scholarship program  .

One of the most notable scholarship programs in the United States is the National Merit Scholarship Program. Started in 1955, the program is open to all students taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which works out to around 1.3 million high schoolers per year. Application to the program is automatic for all students taking the test.  

Each year, roughly 8,000 students receive a National Merit Scholarship worth $2,500, but the program also facilitates college-sponsored scholarships worth up to $2,000 per year and corporate-sponsored scholarships worth up to $10,000 per year. There are three rounds of competition in the program: the screening PSAT/NMSQT test (from which less than 1% of participants progress), a round of semifinals, and then a round of finals. However, simply reaching the semifinal stage is an achievement in its own right, and several colleges offer funding for students who have reached this stage or beyond.  

Scholarships for Minorities in STEM  

National science foundation (nsf) scholarships  .

The National Science Foundation offers several opportunities for high school STEM students. Its scholarship programs include funding for students doing scientific research during high school and seniors seeking funding for college or university.  

Pre-college opportunities for STEM students include Research Assistantships for High School Students ( RAHSS ) funding, available in the fields of biological sciences and physical sciences. Meanwhile, the S-STEM program for higher education, available to up to 90 students per year, aims “to enable low-income students with academic ability, talent, or potential to pursue successful careers in promising STEM fields.”  

National Society for Black Engineers (NSBE) Scholarships  

Formed in 1974, the National Society for Black Engineers is a student-governed organization that supports black engineers in high school and college. It is one of the largest student-governed organizations in the world.  

Through its NSBE and Corporate Scholarship Programs, the organization provides individual scholarships of $500 to $5,000 per year. Although the scholarships promote academic achievement, not all scholarships have a specific GPA requirement. The organization also hosts the RaiseMe platform, available to students from 8th grade onwards, through which colleges offer micro-scholarships to prospective applicants.  

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Scholarships  

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers is a national association for Hispanics taking STEM subjects. Through its ScholarSHPE program, it offers a variety of scholarship options for high school seniors.  

SHPE offers scholarships for Hispanic students at various stages of their academic life, including graduating high school seniors planning to pursue a STEM undergraduate career at a community college or 4-year university. This particular SHPE scholarship , worth $1,000, is available to SHPE members with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.  

Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI) STEM Scholarships  

Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions are colleges or other educational institutions with significant representation (10% or more) from students with an Asian American or Native American Pacific Islander background. One such institution is California State University, Los Angeles.  

Various STEM scholarships are available to students attending AANAPISIs via organizations such as APIA Scholars . APIA Scholars offers a handful of programs, including the AANAPISI Scholarship (one-time $2,500 awards to multi-year $10,000 awards), which does not have a minimum GPA requirement, and the APIA Scholarship, which offers higher awards but requires a minimum GPA of 2.7.  

4 Tips for High Schoolers Applying for STEM Scholarships  

Applying for a STEM scholarship can seem daunting, especially during a busy time like senior year when students already have lots on their plate. However, by approaching the application process strategically, students can minimize stress and maximize their chances of success.  

  • Plan schedules and note deadlines : Different scholarships have their application deadlines, and students should plan their applications carefully to ensure they have enough time to submit. For example, the National Merit Scholarship takes place over 18 months, from the fall of a student’s third year of high school until the spring of their final year, while the ScholarSHPE application period spans November until the following April.  
  • Take part in activities that could benefit the application : Most scholarships aren’t purely about a student’s GPA. Taking part in extracurricular programs , sports, and other community activities can bolster a STEM scholarship application, especially if these activities are relevant to STEM or to specific aspects of the program.  
  • Allocate plenty of time for essay writing : Many scholarship applications include an essay writing portion, which can be different from a college admission essay. These essays should be highly focused on the scholarship’s needs and requirements; if the program pertains to a specific branch of engineering, for example, the student should demonstrate their knowledge of the subject; if the scholarship is offered to minority students, the applicant might emphasize their background or relationship to their community.  
  • Cast a wide net : Only a small percentage of students receive scholarships, so applicants should not hesitate to apply for multiple STEM scholarships where possible to maximize their chances of receiving funding. That said, each application should be tailored to the specific organization.  

How Educators Can Encourage STEM Students to Apply  

Educators teaching high school juniors and seniors have much more to think about than simply delivering effective lesson plans and preparing their students for SAT/ACT exams. Teachers should also consider whether their students will apply for scholarships and think about how they can help their class with this process. Support can range from the general (fostering a warm and supportive learning environment) to the specific (holding intensive scholarship workshops where students can hone their applications).  

A teacher’s role in STEM scholarship applications should be broad and varied. Perhaps the most important starting point is ensuring that a student is getting the best STEM education possible — in a way that can be demonstrated clearly on a scholarship application. This might involve inviting specialist guest speakers on certain topics or running extracurricular activities.  

Another part of an educator’s role is to offer specific guidance on the application process. This work might be divided between a teacher and a guidance counselor and could involve both group activities, in which the educator can offer universal guidance on certain application procedures, and individual support, in which they might revise an individual student’s essay or help them discover programs that are relevant to them.

8 Women in STEM Scholarships You Should Check Out as a High School Student

Women continue to be underrepresented in fields like STEM. According to the US Department of Labor, women make up only 15% of engineers, 24% of IT-related jobs, and 26% of STEM workers overall.

As a woman, pursuing a career in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields is often a tough path to walk on. To help bridge the gender gap and rebalance the scales in numerous industries, several organizations and institutes have started scholarships and programs to improve inclusion and diversity in STEM.

In this article, we’ve curated 8 great scholarships open to women in high school, that can help you further your career in STEM. These range from full tuition covers, renewable grants, and one-time bursaries. Some of the scholarships listed below encourage individuals who identify as non-binary to apply as well.

1. Cards Against Humanity’s Science Ambassador Scholarship

The Chicago-based design firm Cards Against Humanity LLC, which manufactures the popular adult party game of the same name, this full-tuition scholarship to women and non-binary students, covering tuition expenses of your undergraduate degree for up to four years. To apply, you have to record a three-minute video of yourself explaining a STEM topic you are passionate about and upload it to YouTube. Previous winners have studied at the Massachusetts University of Technology, the University of Pennsylvania, and Amherst College. Scholarship amount: Full tuition (Note: Cards Against Humanity will not reimburse you for any tuition expenses you may have already paid). Location: Any US university with an eligible STEM program. You can find the full list of eligible STEM fields for the scholarship here . Application deadline: December 13, 2023. The winner will be announced in April 2024. Eligibility: Students who are high school seniors or undergraduate students from anywhere in the world can apply. You must be pursuing or intend to pursue a STEM field as your undergraduate major.

2. Women at Microsoft Scholarship

Microsoft, one of the world’s leading technology companies, offers high school students (those who identify as girls or non-binary) who want to pursue a career in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) up to $5,000. The scholarship is renewable every year for up to four years, meaning you can receive up to $20,000. Microsoft values applicants who show leadership skills and have a habit of active participation in their community. Scholarship Amount: Up to $5,000; renewable for up to four years. Location: Any US university. Application Deadline: The applications will open between January 2024 and March 2024 (tentatively). Eligibility: Students who are high school seniors set to graduate, i.e. rising college freshmen, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 can apply. The program is open to international students. Those applying must identify as women or non-binary individuals and intend to pursue a career in a STEM field.

3. The Heinlein Society’s Virginia Heinlein Memorial Scholarship

The Heinlein Society is dedicated to Robert A. Heinlein, an American science fiction writer and aeronautical engineer. Every year, it offers four STEM scholarships, of which one is dedicated to women studying STEM.

The $4,000 Virginia Heinlein Memorial Scholarship is offered to one female student studying biological or physical sciences, engineering, or mathematics. The scholarship is open to international students. Its latest recipient, Nine Reed-Mera, began college at 16, is a double major in Biological Sciences and Written Arts, and has a 4.0 GPA. Previous recipients are encouraged to reapply.

Scholarship amount: $4,000

Location: Any US university

Application deadline: The applications tentatively close by March-end or early April.

Eligibility: Students who are attending or plan to attend a university that offers a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree, can apply. Those applying must be majoring in biological or physical sciences, engineering, or mathematics. International students can apply for the scholarship.

4. Hyundai Women in STEM Scholarship

Hyundai America launched the Women in STEM scholarship in 2020 and has since awarded a total of $150,000 to several recipients. This year, five students received $10,000 each . Students must include in their application a written component, talking about how future mobility and STEM-related solutions can better serve communities, which will be graded on the following criteria: thoughtfulness (50%), relevance (30%), quality of writing (15%), grammar (15%).

Scholarship amount: $10,000 for each of the five winners

Location: The scholarship amount is transferable to any STEM program at any US university.

Application deadline: June 2024 (tentative)

Eligibility: Students who are high school seniors or pursuing their undergraduate degree can apply. Those applying must be US citizens or have permanent resident status. Must be at least 18 years old. Students aged 16 and above can apply with the consent of a parent/guardian.

5. BHW Scholarship for Women in STEM

The BHW Group, a Texas-based company that builds custom web and mobile apps for its clients, offers up to two women a $3,000 scholarship.

To apply, students have to write a 500-800 word essay using one of these prompts:

Past winners include Arisa Chue, who is pursuing a Computer Science degree at Stanford University, and Allison Towey, who is studying Computational Social Science at The University of Chicago.

Scholarship amount: $3,000

Application deadline: April 15, 2024.

Eligibility: The program is open to US and international high school, undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate students who are pursuing or intend to pursue a STEM program.

6. Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Scholarships

In 2022, SWE granted over 330 scholarships globally, disbursing more than $1,500,000. Prospective applicants must fill out a common form which will be considered for all scholarships they are eligible for.

7. Lumiere Foundation

While not a university scholarship, the Lumiere Research Inclusion Foundation is a non-profit research program for talented, low-income students. Born out of the Lumiere Research Scholar Program (one of the largest 1-on-1 research initiatives for high school students), the foundation offers the same independent research opportunities at no cost .

The Lumiere Breakthrough Scholar Program is the equivalent of the Individual Research Scholar Program at Lumiere Education. In our flagship program, we pair talented high-school students with world-class Ph.D. mentors to work 1-on-1 on an independent research project . At the end of the 12-week program, you’ll learn about the cutting edge of your field and develop an independent research paper.

You can choose topics from various STEM subjects such as physics, computer science, engineering, chemistry, and more.

8. Davidson Fellows Scholarships

Davidson Fellow Scholarships are offered to gifted high school students who submit projects in the fields o f science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and other such STEM subjects .

Each submission will be reviewed on the basis of its potential to make a positive contribution to society (you can find more detailed guidelines here !). Selected projects can be awarded scholarships from $10,000 - even $50,000!

You should also note that 11/20 recipients for the past few cohorts of the Davidson Fellows scholarship have been women!

The Science Ambassador Scholarship is a full-tuition award for women studying science, technology, engineering, or math funded by the party game Cards Against Humanity. This is one of the most generous scholarships for women in STEM you’ll find—it will pay the winner’s undergraduate tuition expenses for up to four years! The only requisite is to record a three-minute video structured like a mini-lecture on any STEM topic and post it on YouTube. Ensure that the material is scientifically correct and that you source your information. The judges are concerned with substance over style, so don’t worry about production quality.

2. Society of Women Engineers Scholarship Program

Amount: $15,000

  • Incoming freshman: March 1st-May 1st
  • Sophomore through graduate: December 1st-February 15th

These scholarships provide more than $1 million in financial assistance for female students every year.  

3. PixelPlex Bi-Annual STEM Scholarship

Amount: $2,000

Deadline: June 5th and December 5th (bi-annually)

  • At the date of the award, you must be enrolled in (or accepted with plans to attend) a college or university in the United States

4. Palantir Women in Technology Scholarship

BHW is an Austin, Texas-based software development firm made up of designers, developers, and architects who are enthusiastic about programming and building intuitive apps. The BHW Women in STEM Scholarship—one of the most coveted STEM scholarships for women—offers a $3,000 scholarship for a winning essay about applications.

6. Virginia Heinlein Memorial Scholarship

Amount: $4,000

Deadline: April 1st

  • Full-time female undergraduate student enrolled in an accredited college that awards Bachelor of Science or Arts degrees

The Virginia “Ginny” Heinlein Memorial Scholarship is named after an American chemist, biochemist, and engineer. The award is given annually to a female student studying the sciences, engineering, or mathematics. One of the most highly regarded STEM scholarships for women, the winner is chosen through an essay contest. In recent years, competition for the award has grown—it received 567 applications in 2022, up from 383 in 2021. The amount of the award has also risen, from $2,500 in 2020 to $3,000 in 2021 to $4,000 in 2022. 

7. ABC Humane Wildlife Academic Scholarship—Women In STEM

Amount: $1,000

Rebecca Fyffe, Urban Wildlife Manager and entrepreneur in the field of animal behavior, is the creator of the ABC Humane Wildlife Academic Scholarship. As a female business owner in a male-dominated sector, Fyffe is uniquely positioned to understand the challenges facing women in the scientific fields—women make up only 13% of engineering professionals and roughly 7% of professionals in the field of mechanical engineering. The ABC Humane Wildlife Academic Scholarship is intended to increase the number of women enrolled in STEM programs and pave the way for more women to pursue their scientific dreams by providing financial assistance to women who wish to study STEM at a university level. 

8. Girls in STEM (GIS) Scholarship

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher

9. AfterCollege STEM Inclusion Scholarship

AfterCollege, the online provider that connects job-seeking college students and alumni with employers, has awarded more than $1,600,000 in scholarships and student activities to date. Although the AfterCollege STEM Inclusion Scholarship is not restricted to females, it is designed to benefit underrepresented minorities, including women, making it appealing for all female graduates pursuing a STEM degree. Scholarship applicants are evaluated through the perspective of a hiring manager and are encouraged to put their best foot forward—so proofread carefully and highlight your most impressive accomplishments.  

10. Women in Defense Scholarship

Since its founding in 1988, the Women In Defense (WID) Scholar Program has given more than $1,000,000 to over 200 students pursuing degrees in various disciplines including engineering and math as well as non-STEM subjects such as public policy. The WID Scholarship was established with the goal of increasing diversity and innovation in national security and defense by funding high-performing women. Recipients are asked to periodically report on the effect of the award on their personal and professional lives.  

11. Women at Microsoft Scholarship

Amount: Up to $5,000 

Eligibility:  

  • Women and non-binary high school seniors 
  • Minimum 3.00 GPA 
  • Plan to attend a two- or four-year college or university

The Women at Microsoft Scholarship aims to create a path for high school women and non-binary people to go to college, gain a better understanding of the impact technology has on the world, and ultimately find careers in the technology industry. The Women at Microsoft Scholarship provides awards of up to $5,000 which are renewable for up to four years. Award recipients are chosen based on their financial need, academic merit, and interest in technology.

12. Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers’ UPS Scholarship for Female Students 

Deadline: November 15th

  • Minimum 3.4 GPA 
  • Working toward a degree in industrial engineering 

Application Requirements: Nomination by IE department head or academic adviser 

The Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers’ UPS Scholarship for Female Students is one of the most valuable scholarships awarded by the organization. In 2022-23, the organization awarded two $4,000 UPS Scholarships for Female Students to undergraduate women studying industrial engineering.

13. Women in Aviation Scholarships

Eligibility: Active member of Women in Aviation International (men can apply, provided that they meet the scholarship criteria)

14. Snapology STEAM Studies Scholarship

The Snapology STEAM Studies Scholarship is provided by Snapology, an award-winning franchise business that provides educational programs for ages 1 through 14. Snapology STEAM programs are provided everywhere from schools to homes to community centers to Snapology Discovery Centers.  

15. Lounge Lizard Web Design Scholarship

Deadline: October 3rd and February 19th (bi-annually)

  • Attending school in the United States

Lounge Lizard—a New York City-based website design firm, digital marketing agency, and SEO company—awards semi-annual web design scholarships for fall and spring semesters. To apply, students are asked to submit a design or live URL that they created. In addition to receiving an award, winners are also given a design critique session for a project of their choosing with Ken Braun, the Founder & Chief Brandtender of Lounge Lizard. 

16. PG&E Engineering Network Group (ENG) W-STEM Scholarship

Amount: $3,000 & $5,000

The PG&E ENG W-STEM Scholarship is one of 40 scholarships supported by Pacific Gas and Electric. The W-Stem Scholarship is founded by PG&E’s Women in STEM network group and aims to promote, develop, and celebrate the community of women working at PG&E who are devoted to professional development, environmental stewardship, and women-focused issues.

17. Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship

Amount: $10,000

Deadline: Application cycle opens in January

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA 
  • Current or planned 4-year degree enrollment in the following majors: Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics 
  • Current or planned full-time attendance at an accredited U.S. four-year college or university

Application Requirements: Transcript 

Lockheed Martin is a multinational security and aerospace firm. The STEM Scholarship Program was established in 2018 and provides $10,000 grants to 200 students studying engineering or computing science at a four-year college or university. The scholarship may be renewed up to three times for a total potential value of $40,000 per student. Additionally, scholarship recipients have the opportunity to start a paid internship with Lockheed Martin following their freshman, sophomore, or junior year of college. Applicants from groups traditionally underrepresented in the STEM fields are given additional consideration. 

18. MyBioSource Inc. Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

Deadline: End of June

  • Have a documented learning disability
  • Enrolled as a freshman, undergraduate, or graduate student at an accredited college or university 

  Application Requirements: 250-word essay  

The MyBioSource Inc. Scholarship for Students with Disabilities is not a scholarship for women in STEM per se , however, it’s a great opportunity for female students with disabilities.  MyBioSource—a biotech firm—strives to create an inclusive world that is accessible to students with diverse abilities and backgrounds. Along those lines, MyBioSource provides two $1,000 scholarships in support of students with disabilities working to achieve their educational goals and dreams.  

19. Aysen Tunca Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: March 15th

  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident 
  • Female undergraduate sophomores and juniors majoring in a STEM field 
  • Society of Physics Students (SPS) member 

Application Requirements: 

The Aysen Tunca Memorial Scholarship honors its namesake’s life—Aysen Tunca was born in Turkey in 1938 and overcame numerous obstacles to achieve her schooling at a time when it was uncommon for women to obtain higher education. Aysen Tunca would go on to become the Deputy Attorney General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in Turkey. The scholarship is aimed at women studying and excelling in STEM at the undergraduate level who demonstrate significant potential. Preferable applicants come from disadvantaged economic backgrounds, have overcome considerable challenges, or are the first in their families to go to college. 

20. Red Olive Women in STEM Scholarship 

Deadline: August 1st

Eligibility: Female student in a fully accredited university 

Application Requirements: 800-word essay 

The web design and digital marketing firm Red Olive has only received a handful of applications from females in its 22 years of operation—just 17% of computer science graduates are female. While Red Olive doesn’t have a solution to address the shortage of female programmers, it’s helping to provide an answer through its Women in STEM Scholarship.

21. AWIS Kirsten R. Lorentzen Award

  • Female undergraduate sophomores and juniors majoring in physics  

The Association for Women in Science (AWIS) Kirsten R. Lorentzen Award is open to female college sophomores and juniors studying physics. More than merely focused on the applicant’s academics, the AWIS Kirsten R. Lorentzen Award is equally interested in the applicant’s achievements outside the classroom, whether it’s outdoor activities, service, sports, music, or another interest. Students can use the award on any aspect of education, for example, tuition, books, housing, or travel. 

22. Queer Engineer Scholarship

Deadline: January 10th

  • Enrolled at the Associate, Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral level
  • Pursuing a degree or career in technology or applied science 
  • Identify as a trans+ or other gender minority individual
  • Transcript or proof of enrollment

The Queer Engineer Scholarship isn’t exactly a scholarship for women in STEM, however, female-identifying students in engineering will want to take notice. The intent of the Queer Engineer Scholarship is to make engineering more welcoming to students from all backgrounds and provide support for LGBTQ-identifying science and engineering students.

23. Atkins Minorities and Women STEM Scholarship

Deadline: October 31st 

  • Female or of African-American, Asian, Pacific Island, Native American, Native Alaskan, or Hispanic descent
  • Full-time college junior or senior at an accredited university 
  • Working toward a degree in a STEM field specifically related to disciplines within SNC-Lavalin Group industries

The Atkins Minorities and Women STEM Scholarship is provided by SNC-Lavalin Group, a Canadian company based in Montreal that provides engineering, procurement, and construction services. Recipients are chosen based on their academic achievement, letters of recommendation, and financial need, along with their personal qualities and strengths.

24. MPOWER Women in STEM Scholarship

Amount: $6,000

Deadline: January 15th   

  • Female international or DACA student 
  • Accepted or enrolled full-time in a STEM degree program at one of the 400+ schools that MPOWER supports

MPOWER created this scholarship specifically for female international and DACA students. The scholarship provides financial support to women who will use their degrees to benefit society and the planet and who will serve as role models and advocates for women in STEM. Another aim of the scholarship is to encourage female participation and increase the number of women working in science and technology, as just 20% of bachelor’s degrees in engineering and computer science are currently held by women.

25. Elevate Women in Technology Scholarship

Deadline: October 31st   

  • Current female high school and college student
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Application Requirements: 250- to 400- word essay 

The Elevate Women in Technology Scholarship intends to help create gender balance in technology and increase female participation in the innovation of tech. The scholarship sponsor believes that more women working in technology will result in better social and business outcomes, and seeks to empower the industry’s future leaders.

How Outside Scholarships Impact Your Financial Aid Award

Outside scholarships (scholarships not directly provided by your college) are an excellent way to offset the cost of higher education; however, they can also negatively affect the amount of financial aid you receive. Many scholarships require letters of recommendation. It’s common courtesy to leave your letter writer at least a month to compose their recommendation. The Da Vinci Science Center STEAM Student Scholarship awards five scholarships worth $2,000 each to Pennsylvania high school students who display curiosity and creativity in the classroom.

Students must have at least a 3.2 GPA and meet other applicant criteria, such as letters of recommendation and an applicant essay. Students interested in applying can do so on through the Da Vinci Science Center website.

Southern California Edison Scholars

The Edison Scholars Program awards a total of $50,000 to high school students in Southern California. To qualify, students must pursue a major in a STEM-related field, and finalists must submit a video application.

Edison Scholars 2022

Southern California Edison provides electricity to almost all of Southern California, with a population of 15 million people, so this covers a vast amount of school districts in this state. Those interested in applying can do so on the Southern California Edison website.

BHW Women In STEM Scholarship

The BHW Group supports women pursuing higher education in STEM, whether in a bachelor’s or master's program. While the program is designed for women in university, high school students are eligible as long as they attend college the following year.

This scholarship is worth $3,000 and is awarded based on applications and essays submitted by applicants. Those interested in the BHW Women in STEM scholarship can apply through the BHW Group website.

Women at Microsoft Scholarship

More women are now pursuing STEM-related degrees and careers than ever. However, there is still a large disparity between men and women in this field of study. The Women at Microsoft Scholarship is designed to empower women and non-binary people to attend college.

This scholarship is awarded based on the demonstration of a passion for technology and how it can influence the world. Students who are selected for this scholarship of $5,000 can renew it for up to four years, which is a significant help toward tuition.

Applicants must write an essay and provide letters of recommendation, transcripts, and proof of community engagement. Those interested in applying can do so on Microsoft's website.

AIAA Lockheed Martin Marillyn Hewson Scholarship

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) offers the Lockheed Martin Marillyn Hewson scholarship to female high school seniors who demonstrate financial need. This scholarship was created in honor of Marillyn Hewson, the former president, chairman, and CEO of Lockheed Martin.

Students applying for this scholarship must demonstrate financial need and a passion for aeronautics and related fields through a 500-1,000 word essay. This scholarship awards $10,000 to a qualifying student. Those interested in applying can do so on the AIAA website.

National Organization of Gay and Lesbian Scientists and Technical Professionals Out to Innovate Scholarship

The Out to Innovate Scholarship is designed for students who identify with the LGBTQIA+ community and are pursuing an undergraduate degree in a STEM major. This scholarship requires a personal statement style essay and letters of recommendation. Students must also be active members of organizations that advocate for LGBTQIA+ youth.

The Out To Innovate Scholarship is split into two recipients, a first and second-place winner. The first-place winner is awarded $5,000, and the second-place winner is awarded $2,500. Those interested in applying can do so on the National Organization of Gay and Lesbian Scientists and Technical Professionals website.

Generation Google Scholarship

The Generation Google Scholarship is available to current undergraduate students as well as high school students, particularly those in underrepresented groups in the STEM field. This scholarship awards $10,000 to selected recipients. To qualify, students must demonstrate a passion for improving minority representation in computer science and technology fields.

Brooke owens fellowship.

The Brooke Owens Fellowship is designed to connect students with a network of educational and career opportunities, in honor of former pilot Dawn Brooke Owens . Through this opportunity, students are connected with internships and senior-level mentors. Students leave this program forever considered a Brook Owens Fellow, and gain life-long connections in STEM. Those interested in the fellowship experience can apply here .

Patti Grace Smith

The Patti Grace Smith Fellowship program was designed to mentor young Black students interested in aerospace while commemorating aerospace trailblazer Patti Grace Smith . This program acknowledges the success of the Brooke Owens Fellowship and is designed to create a space for Black students to excel. Society for Science fuels innovation with $110K in educator grants, transforming classrooms for student STEM research

2024: Congratulations to this year’s STEM Research Grantees!

Society for Science has recognized 41 exceptional educators with awards through its STEM Research Grants program, an initiative dedicated to advancing hands-on science education in middle and high school classrooms nationwide.

These educators will be receiving the STEM Research Grants in two forms: (1) research kits assembled and distributed to teachers by Society for Science and (2) funds paid directly to teachers intended for STEM-related equipment. The funds vary between $2,000 and $5,000, based on what the teacher requested for their classroom. By expanding the array of available equipment and materials, the grants provide students with more diverse research opportunities. Students can explore a broad spectrum of research areas, from electronics and coding to environmental science and ecological studies, fostering inquiry and a foundation for future scientific leaders.

The Society’s STEM Research Grants program, sponsored by Regeneron, is committed to promoting equity and inclusivity, ensuring that aspiring engineers and scientists of all backgrounds, regardless of their location, race or ethnicity, have equal opportunities. By actively fostering an environment that embraces diversity, the program aims to break down barriers and create a more equitable landscape in STEM education, empowering students to pursue and excel in scientific fields, regardless of their individual circumstances.

“Congratulations to the 41 recipients of this year’s STEM Research Grants. These grants serve as a catalyst in classrooms across the country, igniting student curiosity and exposing learners to tangible, real-world applications of STEM. These grants play a crucial role in shaping an inclusive landscape of scientific exploration,” said Maya Ajmera, President & CEO of Society for Science and Executive Publisher of Science News.”

This year’s award recipients include educators from 24 states, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa, emphasizing the program’s widespread impact and diverse representation.

Priority consideration is given to educators who serve students from low-income communities, including students of underrepresented and underserved backgrounds. Everyone in this year’s cohort is based in a public school. Notably, 73% teach at Title I schools. Approximately 72% of students benefitting from the grant hail from underrepresented backgrounds, including American Indian, Alaska Native, Black and Latinx demographics.

Empowered by the Society’s STEM Research Grants, students will have the ability to venture into independent research projects that extend beyond their standard curricula, leading to opportunities to showcase their work in science fairs. This year, the funding will be used to acquire cutting-edge EEG equipment for one classroom, enabling students to explore brain activity. Other teachers will purchase items such as data loggers, a plastic identification machine, stereomicroscopes, and additional resources like 3D printers, hydroponic kits, and robotics materials.

Among the 41 awardees, 19 teachers will be supplied with research kits, and 22 educators will receive funds, each up to $5,000, designed to ignite creativity and amplify student exploration in the realm of their genuine scientific interests. The kits, valued at $1,000 each, encompass four distinct types tailored to enhance varied types of available classroom resources.

This cycle recorded a notable increase in interest in the STEM Research Grants program, with 311 final applications—a rise of 80 compared to the previous year and a substantial 189 more applications than two years ago—reflecting a growing engagement among educators in this program.

This year, the kits for each teacher will contain 3 Arduinos, 2 PocketLab Voyagers, 1 Leaf Pack and 1 Soil Test Kit with a refill:

  • Arduino Starter Kits  – Each STEM kit includes three Arduino Starter Kits. With this open-source hardware and software platform, students can get started on learning about electronics. Available in a variety of languages and simple to use in any location, teachers can lead students through projects about voltage, current, coding and the fundamentals of programming. Students can build innovative prototypes with Arduino boards for research projects with this kit.
  • Leaf Pack Stream Ecology Kit – Students will dive into the fascinating world of freshwater ecosystems with a field kit, created by aquatic specialists and educators from the Stroud Water Research Center and LaMotte. Unveiling the secrets of streamside forests and aquatic life, this kit empowers students to explore the intricate relationships between streams, food chain dynamics, and the impact of pollution. Kits include six mesh bags, a stainless-steel strainer and DiscoveryScope® to spark curiosity and enable engaging, hands-on research into the diverse realm of freshwater macroinvertebrates and their habitats.
  • LaMotte® Garden Kit – Each kit includes one soil test kit with a refill, equipping students with tools to conduct precise soil analysis. The kit enables students to perform rapid test procedures and reference laminated color charts to measure concentrations of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and soil pH. Key components include a pH Indicator, Nitrogen Extracting Solution Phosphorus Test Tablets and more, ensuring students engage in a scientifically rigorous exploration of soil composition and garden analysis.
  • PocketLab Voyagers  – Each STEM Research Grantee receives two PocketLab Voyagers. This gadget can fit into one’s pocket, hence the name, and enables students to conduct research from anywhere. The small pocket laboratory can help students explore physics, weather, climate studies and engineering topics via sensing capabilities that measure acceleration, angular velocity, magnetic fields, altitude, infrared rangefinder and more. Users can stream real-time data with the Pocket Lab app to their own devices.

Over the past several years, the Society has remained steadfast in its dedication to propelling STEM education forward by providing classrooms with improved research equipment. To date, the Society has distributed over 9,100 comprehensive research kits and $885,000 of funding to 697 dedicated educators, with a special emphasis on supporting educators serving historically underrepresented student communities in STEM. These educators represent all 50 states, Washington D.C., American Samoa, Guam, Mexico, Northern Mariana Islands, Peru, Puerto Rico and Uruguay.

This Privacy Policy describes the types of information we may collect when you visit an iD Tech website, open an account or receive iD Tech Services and our practices for using, maintaining, protecting and disclosing that information.

By accessing or otherwise using any of our iD Sites & Services, you consent to the terms contained in this privacy statement, including the collection, use, and disclosure of data as described below.

I.   Information We May Ask You To Provide

Through our iD Sites & Services, we collect information about you and/or your student when you choose to provide it to us. For example, we collect information from you so you can use iD Sites & Services, purchase products and services, register for and obtain an account, request information, apply for a job, register for one of our programs, or verify your age. In general, we may ask you to provide us with the following types of information about you and/your student:

  • Contact information such as name, email address, mailing address, phone numbers (note to parents/guardians of children: if we have actual knowledge that a user is under 13 years old, the child will be asked to have their parent or guardian continue the registration process);
  • Month, day, and year of birth;
  • Gender preference;
  • Course interests;
  • Billing information such as credit card number and billing address;
  • User names to third-party systems (for example, Facebook);
  • Information provided on forums or chat rooms within our iD Sites & Services (note to parents/guardians of children: forums and chat rooms permit a child user to enter comments through which the child could provide personal information that would be visible to other users);
  • Information included in résumés and job applications; and
  • Health, any participation limitations or needs, immunization and allergy information.

Note to Parents/Guardians : We only collect the information described above, from someone we know to be a child, after the child's parent or guardian provides us with verifiable consent, unless one of the limited exceptions discussed below applies. II.   Information Collected Automatically Cookies and other Tracking Technologies We may use cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, log files, Local Storage Objects, or other technologies to collect certain information about visitors to and users of iD Sites & Services, such as the date and time you visit iD Sites & Services, the areas or pages of iD Sites & Services that you visit, the amount of time you spend viewing or using iD Sites & Services, the number of times you return to iD Sites & Services, other click-stream or usage data, and emails that you open, forward or click through to iD Sites & Services. For example, we may automatically collect certain information, such as the type of web browser and operating system you use, the name of your Internet Service Provider, Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, software version, and the domain name from which you accessed our iD Sites & Services. We use this information to monitor and improve our iD Sites & Services, support the internal operations of our iD Sites & Services, personalize your online experience, verify e-signatures, and for internal analysis.

We may also use cookies, web beacons, and other similar technologies from third party partners such as Google for measurement services, better targeting advertisements and for marketing purposes.  These cookies, web beacons, and other similar technologies allow us to display our promotional material to you on other sites you visit across the internet.  Our third-party advertising partners may also use these technologies to identify your browsing interests over time and across different websites to deliver targeted advertisements. 

iD Sites & Services do not recognize “Do Not Track” headers or similar mechanisms.

iD Tech partners with Rakuten Advertising, who may collect personal information when you interact with our site. The collection and use of this information is subject to Rakuten’s privacy policy located at  https://rakutenadvertising.com/legal-notices/services-privacy-policy/ . Our Sites & Services may also use other third-party plug-ins to provide additional services and benefits. These third parties may collect information about you as well. When we use a third-party plug-in we will attempt to provide you with the identify the plug-in, so you can visit the sites of the third-parties to view the privacy policy under which the information they collect is identified and controlled. 

We may also collect geolocation information from your device so we can customize your experience on our iD Sites & Services. In most cases, you are able to turn off such data collection at any time by accessing the privacy settings of your device and/or through the settings in the applicable GPS application. Social Media You also can engage with our content, and other offerings, on or through social media services or other third-party platforms, such as Facebook, or other third-party social media plug-ins, integrations and applications. When you engage with our content on or through social media services or other third-party platforms, plug-ins, integrations or applications, you may allow us to have access to certain information in your profile. This may include your name, email address, photo, gender, birthday, location, an ID associated with the applicable third-party platform or social media account user files, like photos and videos, your list of friends or connections, people you follow and/or who follow you, or your posts or "likes." For a description on how social media services and other third-party platforms, plug-ins, integrations, or applications handle your information, please refer to their respective privacy policies and terms of use, which may permit you to modify your privacy settings.

When we interact with you through our content on third-party websites, applications, integrations or platforms, we may obtain any information regarding your interaction with that content, such as content you have viewed, and information about advertisements within the content you have been shown or may have clicked on. Information from Third Party Services We may also obtain other information, including personal information, from third parties and combine that with information we collect through our Websites. For example, we may have access to certain information from a third-party social media or authentication service if you log in to our Services through such a service or otherwise provide us with access to information from the service. Any access that we may have to such information from a third-party social media or authentication service is in accordance with the authorization procedures determined by that service. If you authorize us to connect with a third-party service, we will access and store your name, email address(es), current city, profile picture URL, and other personal information that the third party service makes available to us, and use and disclose it in accordance with this Policy. You should check your privacy settings on these third-party services to understand and change the information sent to us through these services. For example, you can log in to the Services using single sign-in services such as Facebook Connect or an Open ID provider.

III.    Your Ability To Control Cookies And Similar Technologies As noted, we may use cookies or similar technologies to monitor and improve iD Sites & Services, support the internal operations of iD Sites & Services, personalize your online experience, support the e-signature process, and/or for internal analysis. This includes the use of third-party cookies. We use these technologies to keep track of how you are using our iD Sites & Services and to remember certain pieces of general information. 

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. Check the “Tools” or “Help” tab on your browser to learn how to change your cookie and other tracking preferences.

If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the functions of iD Sites & Services and/or some of our services will function improperly, in particular the inability to log in or manage items in your shopping cart. We do not share cookie data with any third parties. IV.   How We May Use Your Information We may use the information we collect from and about you and/or your student for any of the following purposes:

  • Allow you to register yourself or your student with iD Sites & Services, or to otherwise register and open an account with us;
  • Allow you and/or your student to use iD Sites & Services;
  • Fulfill orders, process payments, and prevent transactional fraud;
  • Respond to your or your student’s requests or inquiries;
  • Provide you or your student with information about our products and services;
  • Consider you for employment or a volunteer opportunity;
  • Register you or your student in one of our programs;
  • Verify your student's age;
  • Monitor and improve iD Sites & Services, support the internal operations of iD Sites & Services, personalize your online experience, and for internal analysis;
  • Protect the security or integrity of iD Sites & Services and our business;
  • Facilitate the sale or potential sale of our business or any of our assets; or
  • As required by law.

V.   How We Share Information We do not sell or otherwise share your or your student’s information with any third parties, except for the limited purposes described below. Parents/guardians of children under the age of 13 have the option of consenting to the collection and use of their child's personal information without consenting to the disclosure of that information to certain third parties.  

1.   Law Enforcement And Safety

We may access, preserve, and/or disclose the information we collect and/or content you and/or your student/child provides to us (including information posted on our forums) to a law enforcement agency or other third parties if required to do so by law or with a good faith belief that such access, preservation, or disclosure is reasonably necessary to: (i) comply with legal process; (ii) enforce the Terms and Conditions of iD Sites & Services; (iii) respond to claims that the content violates the rights of third parties; or (iv) protect the rights, property, or personal safety of the owners or users of iD Sites & Services, a third party, or the general public. We also may disclose information whenever we believe disclosure is necessary to limit our legal liability; to protect or defend our rights or property; or protect the safety, rights, or property of others.  2.   Service Providers; Colleges and Universities Information collected through iD Sites & Services may be transferred, disclosed, or shared with third parties engaged by us to handle and deliver certain activities, such as housing, meals, payment processing, mail/email distribution, software providers, and to perform other technical and processing functions, such as maintaining data integrity, programming operations, user services, or technology services. We may provide these third parties’ information collected as needed to perform their functions, but they are prohibited from using it for other purposes and specifically agree to maintain the confidentiality of such information. Some of these providers, such as payment processors, may request additional information during the course of offering their services. Before you provide additional information to third-party providers, we encourage you to review their privacy policies and information collection practices. 3.    Business Transfer During the normal course of our business, we may sell or purchase assets. If another entity may acquire and/or acquires us or any of our assets, information we have collected about you may be transferred to such entity. In addition, if any bankruptcy or reorganization proceeding is brought by or against us, such information may be considered an asset of ours and may be sold or transferred to third parties. Should a sale or transfer occur, we will use reasonable efforts to try to require that the transferee use personal information provided through our iD Sites & Services in a manner that is consistent with this privacy statement. VI.            Our Commitment To Children’s Privacy Protecting the privacy of children is paramount. We understand that users and visitors of our iD Sites & Services who are under 13 years of age need special safeguards and privacy protection. It is our intent to fully comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). 

Our iD Sites & Services are intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly permit anyone under 13 years of age to provide us with personal information without obtaining a parent's or guardian’s verifiable consent, except where:

  • the sole purpose of collecting the name or online contact information of a parent or child is to provide notice and obtain parental consent;
  • the purpose of collecting a parent’s online contact information is to provide voluntary notice to, and subsequently update the parent about, the child’s participation in our iD Sites & Services that do not otherwise collect, use, or disclose childrens' personal information;
  • the sole purpose of collecting online contact information from a child is to respond directly on a one-time basis to a specific request from the child, and where such information is not used to re-contact the child or for any other purpose, is not disclosed, and is deleted by us promptly after responding to the child’s request;
  • the purpose of collecting a child’s and a parent’s online contact information is to respond directly more than once to the child’s specific request, and where such information is not used for any other purpose, disclosed, or combined with any other information collected from the child;
  • the purpose of collecting a child’s and a parent’s name and online contact information, is to protect the safety of a child, and where such information is not used or disclosed for any purpose unrelated to the child’s safety;
  • we collect a persistent identifier and no other personal information and such identifier is used for the sole purpose of providing support for the internal operations of iD Sites & Services; or
  • otherwise permitted or required by law.

If we receive the verifiable consent of a child's parent or guardian to collect, use, and/or disclose the child's information, we will only collect, use, and disclose the information as described in this privacy statement. Some features of our iD Sites & Services permit a child user to enter comments, such as forums and chat rooms, through which the child could provide personal information that would be visible to other users. VIII.         Restrictions On Child Users Children under 13 years of age are prevented from accessing areas of iD Sites & Services which include, but are not restricted to, client account information, unless approved by their parent or guardian and any course content defined as age inappropriate by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). IX.            Forums And Chats We may offer forums and chat rooms. Please be aware that anyone may read postings on a forum or in a chat room. Furthermore, any information which is posted to a forum or chat room could include personal information, which would be disclosed and available to all users of that forum or chat room, and is therefore no longer private. We cannot guarantee the security of information that any user discloses or communicates online in public areas such as forums and chat rooms. Those who do so, do so at their own risk. We reserve the right to monitor the content of the forums and chat rooms. If age-inappropriate content or potentially identifiable information is seen, it may be removed or edited by us for security, privacy, and/or legal reasons. We will not republish postings from forums or chat rooms anywhere on the Web. X.             Links And Third Parties

At our discretion, we may include or offer third-party websites, products, and services on iD Sites & Services. These third-party sites, products, and services have separate and independent privacy policies. You should consult the respective privacy policies of these third parties. Our iD Sites & Services may contain links to other third-party websites, chat rooms, or other resources that we provide for your convenience. These sites are not under our control, and we are not responsible for the content available on other sites. Such links do not imply any endorsement of material on our part and we expressly disclaim all liability with regard to your access to such sites. Access to any other websites linked to from iD Sites & Services is at your own risk.  

XI.             Legal Basis for processing Personal Data and Your Data Protection Rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), iD Tech’s legal basis for collecting and using your personal information as described in this policy depends on the personal Data we collect and the context in which we collect it.  ID Tech may process your personal data:

  • To provide the services which you requested or purchased;
  • Because you have given us permission to do so;
  • To provide you with better services, including conducting audits and data analysis;

If you choose to use our iD Sites & Services from the European Union or other regions of the world with laws governing data collection and uses that differ from the United States, then you recognize and agree that you are transferring your personal information outside of those regions to the United States and you consent to that transfer.   • iD Tech is merely providing a medium in which to socialize online with fellow participants. Users are solely responsible for interactions (including any disputes) with other Members and any volunteers that may advise and assist participants with projects and activities via your use of the iD Site & Services.
  • You understand that iD Tech does not in any way screen Members or review or police: (i) statements made by Members in their Member Submissions or the Member Submissions in general; or (ii) statements made by Users or any information a User may provide via the iD Site & Services.
  • You understand that your participant(s) is solely responsible for, and will exercise caution, discretion, common sense, and judgment in using the various iD Sites & Services and disclosing personal information to other Members or Users. 
  • On behalf of your participant(s), you agree that they will take reasonable precautions in all interactions with other Members, particularly if they decide to meet a Member offline or in person.
  • Your participant's use of the social networking sites with which iD Tech is affiliated, their services, and/or Content and Member Submissions, is at your sole risk and discretion and iD Tech hereby disclaims any and all liability to you or any third party relating thereto.
  • On behalf of your participant(s), you agree that they will not harass, threaten, intimidate, bully, stalk, or invade the privacy of any individual in connection with your use of the social networking sites with which iD Tech is affiliated and their services, whether or not an individual is an iD Tech Member; and you further agree not to advocate such activities or to encourage others to engage in any such activities.
  • On behalf of your participant(s), you agree they will not give their social networking information to an iD Tech staff member.
  • You and your participant(s) should also be aware that under no circumstances are iD Tech employees allowed to give personal contact information for social networking sites. This must be arranged by the participant's parent/guardian through the People Services Department.

XX.        Copyright & Intellectual Property Policy: You agree that you and your participant will not use the social networking sites to offer, display, distribute, transmit, route, provide connections to, or store any material that infringes copyrighted works, trademarks, or service marks or otherwise violates or promotes the violation of the intellectual property rights of any third party. internalDrive, Inc. has adopted and implemented a policy that provides for the termination in appropriate circumstances of the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe or are believed to be or are charged with repeatedly infringing the intellectual property or proprietary rights of others. XXI.       Disclaimer:   BY USING THE SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES OR SUBMITTING A MEMBER SUBMISSION, YOU AGREE THAT INTERNALDRIVE, INC. These Terms and Conditions apply to all pages found at www.idtech.com  and all Programs operated by internalDrive, Inc. (referred to as "iD Tech") including but not limited to iD Tech In-Person programs and iD Tech Online Programs. These terms apply to all lessons, classes, courses, and options offered by iD Tech (hereinafter referred to individually as “Program” or collectively “Programs”).

Privacy Policy: By using iD Tech’s website, registering you or your student for a Program, and/or affirmatively giving your agreement, you are agreeing on your own behalf and that of your student to abide and be bound by the Privacy Policy found HERE and the Terms and Conditions contained and referenced herein.

Online Programs: If you are purchasing, or you or your student is participating in an Online Program you also agree on your own behalf and on behalf of your student, to be bound by the additional terms and conditions found HERE .

On-Campus Programs: If you are purchasing, or you or your student is participating in, an On-Campus Program, you also agree on your own behalf and on behalf of your student to be bound by the additional terms and conditions found HERE .

Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct or engaging in actions or attitudes that seem to be harmful to the atmosphere, other participants, or staff, in the opinion of iD Tech can lead to removal from a Program or Program(s). iD Tech reserves the right to dismiss students from a Program and prevent a student from attending additional Programs without any prior warning for (1) violating any of the terms of this code of conduct, or (2) if iD Tech determines that a Program is not a suitable and/or productive environment for a student (this includes incidents in which a student does not have sufficient English language skills to participate in the Program; participation in courses requires a high level of English understanding). Refunds will not be given for students dismissed for failure of the student or the parent to abide by the Code of Conduct, or if it is determined that a Program is not suitable for a student. While iD Tech strives to maintain excellent relationships with students, in some rare cases, we may determine that iD Tech is not a compatible environment for every student.

Students and parents/guardians may NEVER:

  • Disrupt, bully, intimidate, or harass others;
  • Use inappropriate language (for example, students cannot use of swear or curse words, racial, gendered, homophobic/transphobic, stereotypical, or culturally insensitive words, even if done in a joking manner);
  • View, display or post any inappropriate material (including sexual content, material depicting inappropriate violence, racism, bullying, etc.) during a Program;
  • Share Program information (including lesson plans, etc.) with third-parties, without permission from iD Tech;
  • Impersonate another person; or
  • Contact instructors outside of the Program.

Students also may NEVER:

  • Engage in Internet hacking;
  • Create an account on or log into third-party websites without the permission of their instructor;
  • Use false information to create an account on or log into third-party websites;
  • Share personal information with staff members or ask staff members for their personal information;
  • Share or create video or audio recordings of iD Tech staff or another student without the permission of iD Tech.

Students and parents/guardians MUST:

  • Follow directions/instructions of iD Tech personnel;
  • If online, ensure the student attends the Program in an appropriate, private setting;
  • Dress appropriately during the Program;
  • Adhere to the terms of use of any sites used, including following the specified age policies; and
  • Only share material that is related to lessons and appropriate.

II. Age Policy

iD Tech offers Programs for students ages 7-19. Therefore, students may interact and/or room with a student that is within this age range including 18 or 19 years old. Please note the age range of the Program being registered for.

If a student is 18 or 19 years old and participating in an On-Campus Program, they must successfully pass a criminal and sexual offender background check prior to being allowed to attend. Clients are responsible for all costs and fees associated with any background checks required for a student to attend.

III. Special Accommodations

If a student requires an accommodation to participate, or needs an aid to attend in an iD Tech Program, a parent/guardian must call iD Tech at 1-888-709-8324, no less than three weeks prior to your student’s first day of the Program to make needed arrangements.

If a student requires an aide to participate in an iD Tech Program, the aide must be age 18 or older, may not be a family member, and if it is an On -Campus Program, the aide must successfully pass a criminal and sexual offender background check prior ro being allowed to attend with the student. Aides may also be subject to fingerprinting. Clients are responsible for all direct costs, including background check processing fees, parking, and compensation for the aide’s attendance.

IV. Payment Policy

  • Unless otherwise noted, all financial transactions are made and quoted in U.S. Dollars.
  • All Payment Plan Fees, fees paid for Online Programs, and the $250 per week deposit for On-Campus Programs are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
  • Other than if iD Tech needs to cancel a class, there are no refunds, credits or replacement days for classes missed. If iD Tech needs to cancel a class, iD Tech will either provide you a pro rata credit or reschedule the canceled class(es).
  • If iD Tech cancels an entire Program for any reason, the fees paid for the Program will be refunded, less the non-refundable fees, as set out above. Non-refundable fees (other than the Payment Plan Fee, if any) will remain in your account as a fully transferable credit that is valid for three (3) years.
  • iD Tech has the right to charge a $25 late fee on any payments not paid by the due date. For balances that are over 30 (thirty) days past due, iD Tech has the right to charge a 1% monthly finance charge and send the balance to a collection agency for collection (collection agency and legal fees may apply).
  • All fees (registration, administrative, late, etc.) must be paid prior to the start of a Program, unless a payment plan has been agreed to. Students will be withdrawn from a Program if the Program has not been paid in full prior to the start of the Program, or if at any time a payment is not paid by the due date. No refunds, credits, or make-up classes will be provided if a session is missed due to a delinquent payment.
  • By agreeing to a subscription or payment plan, you are authorizing iD Tech to auto charge the credit card on file as agreed at the time of purchase and as set out in My Account.
  • A $35 returned check fee will be assessed for any checks returned or card transactions that are not honored.

V. Reservation Changes

To provide outstanding Programs, we may have to limit your ability to make changes (such as registering for a different course or changing attendance dates) and/or cancel a Program. Please reference the Terms and Conditions for specific Programs (linked above) for the rules and restrictions for changes and cancellations for that Program.

VI. Promotions and Discounts

Promotional discounts are limited to one discount per student. There may be other limitations as to how they apply, and codes must be submitted at the time of registration. iD Tech will not honor retroactive adjustments, and the total discounts received cannot exceed the total cost of the products purchased.

The Refer-a-Friend Program is a voluntary Program that applies to Small Group Classes and In-Person Programs.

  • Each Referral Code can be used a maximum of 10 times. The code can only be used by students attending iD Tech for the first time (may be limited to certain Programs) and must be applied at the time of registration.
  • A tuition credit will be given for each new student that registers for an In-Person Program or Small Group Class using a referral code and attends the course for which they registered.
  • The Refer-a-Friend Program does not apply to siblings.
  • Students may not refer each other to both qualify for the Refer-a-Friend Discount.
  • Tuition credit will be applied after the referred client registers, pays in full and attends the Program. If the referred friend cancels his/her Program, the credit will be removed, and you will be responsible for any account balance that is created as a result of the lost credit.
  • All tuition credits must be used in the Program term in which they are earned, can be used to offset Program tuition and other fees incurred, but do not entitle you to any form of payment.
  • Tuition credits have no cash value.

VII. Certificates/Vouchers

All certificates/vouchers are non-refundable, non-transferable, and not redeemable for cash. Certificates/vouchers must be redeemed at the time of registration. Certificates/vouchers are valid until the specified expiration date, without exception. They are valid for up to the amount issued, and any amounts not used are forfeited.

VIII. General Releases

  • Media Release: As a condition of participation, you authorize iD Tech and its partners to take photos, videos, images, audio, and testimonials of and/or from you and your student and agree that said content may be used by iD Tech in promotional materials, marketing collateral, and online media. These images, testimonials, photos, videos, and audio may be shared and used by corporate partners, the media, or other organizations that work with iD Tech. You also agree that all projects and work created by your student during an iD Tech Program may be used by iD Tech in promotional materials, online, and other print media, and may be shared and used by corporate partners, the media, or other organizations that work with iD Tech. You understand that iD Tech, its owners, agents, partners, facility providers, and employees will not be held liable for damages and injuries associated with use of any content released herein, including any and all claims based on negligence. You agree that all images, testimonials, photos, video, and audio taken at or in connection with an iD Tech Program are the sole and exclusive property of iD Tech, and that iD Tech has a royalty-free, perpetual license to use copies of all student work and projects created at an iD Tech Program.
  • Name and Likeness Release: As a condition of participation, you authorize iD Tech and the press to use your student's full name and likeness in print, radio, TV, and other mediums.
  • Project/Hardware Release: Some iD Tech Programs are project-based. In such instances, iD Tech will attempt to provide your student with the knowledge to produce a working project. Some iD Tech Programs include take home hardware. In those instances, iD Tech will send home a product or voucher for a product. However, there will be instances when a project or product or product voucher cannot be sent home, posted, or delivered, and you agree that iD Tech is not responsible if the game, project, product or voucher does not work properly and/or is not compatible with outside systems. You release iD Tech from any responsibility for failure to provide a copy of the project or product voucher, or a non-functioning/non-compatible/non-complete game, project, product voucher or product. Refunds will not be issued for not receiving products, product vouchers, or being provided a copy of the project, and/or non-functioning/non-compatible/non-complete projects, product vouchers or products. If you have issues with a product voucher or product, you must contact the manufacturer directly. Product vouchers only cover shipping within the continental U.S. Therefore, if you require the product to be shipped outside the continental US, you are responsible for all shipping and handling costs.
  • Software Accounts: Some iD Tech Program activities require creation and/or use of an online account or require an online account to be created for your student. You consent to create or have iD Tech create account(s) as needed for your student to participate in Program activities. During non-instructional time, students may have access to websites that require accounts to be set up. While it is against iD Tech rules for students to set up accounts without their instructor’s permission, there may be instances where a student may create an account without the knowledge of iD Tech or its employees. In such instances, you release iD Tech and its employees from any and all responsibility and liability for accounts created by your student without iD Tech’s knowledge.
  • Game Ratings: iD Tech takes its corporate responsibility and iD Tech family values very seriously. However, we cannot guarantee that younger students at iD Tech will avoid all contact with or mention of games rated "T" for Teen, or "M" for Mature. iD Tech will make a concerted effort to minimize both direct and indirect exposure to any games not rated for a student’s age group. Students attending courses designed for older ages have a greater chance of being exposed to materials rated for that older age group. If a student is attending a course for ages 13+, they may be exposed to games rated "M" for Mature by the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board). You voluntarily assume any and all risks, known or unknown, associated with your student’s exposure to game content at an iD Tech Program.

IX. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold internalDrive, Inc.,iD Tech, its officers, directors, employees, and agents, harmless from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including, without limitation, reasonable attorneys' fees and costs, arising out of or in any way connected with your student’s participation in an iD Tech Program.

X. Arbitration Agreement

You agree that any dispute other than collection matters, arising out of or relating to this Agreement, you or your student's participation in a Program with internalDrive, Inc., or otherwise arising between the parties, including, without limitation, any statutorily created or protected rights, as permitted by applicable state/provincial or federal laws, shall be settled by arbitration to be held in Santa Clara County, California, in accordance with the Commercial Rules of the American Arbitration Association, and judgment upon the award rendered by the arbitrator(s) may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction. The prevailing party in the arbitration shall be entitled to recover expenses including costs and reasonable attorneys’ fees associated therewith. Should any part of this contract be found invalid or not enforceable by a court of law, then the remaining portion shall continue to be valid and in force. You hereby acknowledge that you understand the terms of this ARBITRATION AGREEMENT, and you agree to comply with all of its terms and provisions.

XI. Rights Reserved

internalDrive, Inc. reserves the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. iD Tech is not a university-sponsored program. iD Tech reserves the right to cancel or modify any and all classes, lessons, Programs or courses for any reason.

XII. Release of Liability

ON BEHALF OF MY SON/DAUGHTER/WARD, I, THE PARENT/GUARDIAN, IN EXCHANGE FOR THE RIGHT OF MY SON/DAUGHTER/WARD TO PARTICIPATE IN ID TECH PROGRAM(S), HEREBY RELEASE INTERNALDRIVE, INC., ITS OWNERS, AGENTS, PARTNERS, FACILITY PROVIDERS, AND EMPLOYEES FROM LIABILITY (INCLUDING CLAIMS BASED UPON NEGLIGENCE) FOR ANY AND ALL DAMAGES OR INJURIES TO MY SON/DAUGHTER/WARD OR DAMAGE OF ANY PERSONAL PROPERTY. I AGREE TO BE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY AND ALL SUCH DAMAGES OR INJURIES WHICH MAY RESULT DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY FROM ANY NEGLIGENT ACTS OR ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATED WITH INTERNALDRIVE, INC. HOWEVER, I UNDERSTAND THAT I AM NOT RELEASING INTERNALDRIVE, INC., ITS OWNERS, AGENTS, PARTNERS, FACILITY PROVIDERS, AND EMPLOYEES FROM GROSS NEGLIGENCE OR INTENTIONALLY TORTIOUS CONDUCT. TO THE EXTENT THIS RELEASE CONFLICTS WITH STATE/PROVINCIAL LAW GOVERNING RELEASES, THIS RELEASE IS TO BE GIVEN THE FULLEST FORCE AND EFFECT PERMITTED UNDER STATE/PROVINCIAL LAW. SHOULD ANY PART OF THIS CONTRACT BE FOUND INVALID OR NOT ENFORCEABLE BY A COURT OF LAW, THEN THE REMAINING PORTION SHALL CONTINUE TO BE VALID AND IN FORCE. XIII. Copyright

UNH offers free summer STEM programs: Education news

Unh offers free summer stem programs for middle and high school students.

DURHAM — This July,  UNH Tech Camp  will be offering a number of free weeklong STEM programs for middle and high school students focused on regenerative medicine, bridge design, transportation engineering and data analytics. These subjects will all be explored through an experiential, project-based learning format that emphasizes creative thinking, problem solving and having fun. Day and residential options available; all STEM experience levels are welcome to apply. Programs run between July 8-26 on the Durham campus; applications are now being accepted.

A special program for students who are traditionally underrepresented in STEM-related fields is also being offered at no cost this summer. Open to grades 7-10, the  Dinah Whipple STEAM Academy  is an immersive educational program that explores science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics (STEAM), as well as topics related to the Black experience. The program runs from July 8-12.

These free programs are being offered as part of UNH Tech Camp, a longstanding summer youth program for grades 5-12 held on the UNH Durham campus. Founded in 2007, Tech Camp offers a wide array of summer STEM programs ranging from video game design and forensic science to rocketry and space exploration. Need-based scholarships are available for all programs that aren’t being offered at no cost.

Paul Lynch appointed to the Monarch School of New England Board of Directors

ROCHESTER —The Monarch School of New England announced the appointment of Paul Lynch to its Board of Directors.  As a member of the board, Lynch will actively offer guidance and support for the Monarch School of New England's commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

“It is an honor to join the Board. Every time I visit, I’m inspired to see students with significant challenges being provided with an outstanding education and the support they need to become the best they can,” said Lynch. “The staff at the school really care, and are truly committed to helping every student succeed.”

A graduate of Spaulding High School and Rochester resident, Lynch currently works at Hubbell. He and his family are actively involved in the community, supporting a number of local organizations and nonprofits. He recently stepped down from the Rochester School Board after 12 years of service, six of which he served as chairman.

“We are delighted that Paul accepted our invitation to join Monarch’s Board,” said President Jean Parsons. “He’s demonstrated a genuine commitment to our students over the years, participating in a number of school events like our golf tournament, touch-a-truck, and other programmatic activities. And his extensive knowledge of educational systems, developed through his leadership on the Rochester School Board, will be a great benefit for our school.”

Oyster River Cooperative School District honors Amy Sterndale with 2024 Distinguished Service Award

DURHAM — The Oyster River Cooperative School District announced Amy Sterndale of Durham has received the district's 2024 Distinguished Service Award.

The award is presented to a member of the Oyster River community who has volunteered their time and talent to the betterment of the district. Sterndale, a communications and marketing professional, has volunteered both as a parent and as a member of the Superintendent’s Communication Committee. She was recognized in a ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at the School District Deliberative Session.

Oyster River Cooperative School District thanks Durham Officer Michael Nicolosi

DURHAM — The Oyster River Cooperative School District recognized Durham Police Officer Michael Nicolosi on National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, recognized each year on Feb. 15 by the National Association of School Resource Officers.

A School Resource Officer (SRO) is a full-time law enforcement officer that is trained in school-based, community-oriented policing. The position is one of the most important roles for both police departments and school districts, serving as a liaison between educators and law enforcement, a friendly face, and a helping hand in the community.

Nicolosi has been an active presence at all four Oyster River Cooperative School District schools for four years.

Coe-Brown Northwood Academy student receives prestigious Spanish language scholarship

NORTHWOOD — Each year, the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (National Spanish Honor Society) awards a small number of scholarships to graduating high school seniors from around the country who have shown evidence of high achievement in Spanish or Portuguese language learning throughout their high school careers. Coe-Brown Northwood Academy Spanish student Francesca Ferguson ’24 of Barrington, New Hampshire, recently learned that she is one of only forty-eight recipients from around the United States to receive the Society’s Joseph Adams Senior Scholarship award for 2024. Only one student application from each of the nation’s approximately 3,000 National Spanish Honor Society chapters is accepted for consideration, and from there, a select few are awarded the scholarship. What makes this achievement even more noteworthy is that Ferguson is not a native speaker of the language, having only studied Spanish for the past five years.

Ferguson is in the process of applying to a number of colleges, where she plans to study behavioral neuroscience, linguistics and Spanish with the intention of becoming a bilingual school psychologist. She wants to help children from Spanish-speaking countries and diverse cultural backgrounds be successful and comfortable in school.

In today’s tech-driven world, practical STEM education for high school students is critical. ASU Prep is at the forefront of this initiative, connecting K–12 STEM to everyday life through the Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) program.

What is EPICS at ASU Prep?

Arizona State University’s Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS), is an award-winning social entrepreneurship program, which has been adapted for high school students. Now being implemented as a science elective at ASU Prep Downtown and Polytechnic campuses, EPICS High engages students in hands-on STEM activities, equipping them with skills in discipline knowledge, design process, teamwork, communication, ethics, and more.

The design-based service learning program allows students to work on projects that provide solutions to real-world problems in partnership with local partners, focusing on community development, health, sustainability, and/or education. Rachna Mathur, ASU Prep STEM Strategist, is thrilled to have EPICS High at both ASU Prep Downtown and Poly to foster in students a love and curiosity for STEM. She also emphasizes the social element: “A program like this connects the dots between engineering and social entrepreneurship, which is critical in serving your communities.”

Mathur points out the many benefits of working under the guidance of the established ASU EPICS program. Structure and programming are provided, along with the unique advantage of college-level mentors. The university also provides budgetary support as student teams are required to submit their project budgets to ASU, which then provides financial backing for their projects. ASU Prep students in the program are eligible to earn college-level credit and may cross-credit their participation as internship experience.

EPICS at ASU Prep Polytechnic

At ASU Prep Poly, teacher Max Colfer is spearheading the EPICS program in both his beginning STEM class with 24 students and his advanced STEM class with 26 students. Embarking on their journey with a practice run to immerse themselves in the various stages of project development, the students experience the range of responsibilities, roles, and expectations that come with the job.

The students engaged with staff members, conducted a comprehensive needs assessment, and ventured into 3D modeling—planning, creating, printing, and painting nameplates.They also honed their professionalism and communication skills, including proper email etiquette.

Further, they utilized a large format printer to create classroom banners per teacher requests and established a Google Sites website for efficient project and stakeholder management, focusing on the importance of maintaining relationships with stakeholders post-product delivery.

Colfer is inspired as his students imagine and create solutions to improve people’s lives. He shares, “I’m extremely proud of my students. They’ve faced the rigorous EPICS program head-on and what they’ve accomplished in the last two months is nothing short of incredible.” He’s confident they’re ready to advance to the official ASU EPICS projects: “I’m really eager to see what kind of connections we can make on campus and how we can expand our educational network.”

EPICS at ASU Prep Downtown Phoenix

At ASU Prep Downtown Phoenix, teacher Julie Johnson is steering her twelve students through the intricate process of Human-Centered Engineering Design, an approach that equips engineers with the necessary technical knowledge to research and identify user needs, translate those into tangible product or process design ideas, and scientifically evaluate the usability of products or services.

The journey began with a practice run where students crafted duct tape wallets for their peers. This exercise involved needs assessment, planning, and prototype creation. They also practiced the proposal process, presenting to Ms. Johnson ideas to transform an unused downtown lot.

Students are now moving into their official projects. Focused on school improvement in collaboration with Assistant Principal Ms. Muñoz, the students are reshaping campus spaces to enhance community. This hands-on experience underscores the practical application of science and math in K–12 education, illustrating its real-world impact.

The class is divided into three groups of four, with each member assuming a distinct role—leader, partner liaison, materials manager, and budget manager. One group is tackling a media center transformation project, aiming to catalog books, develop a check-in and check-out system, and create flexible study spaces. Another team is working on a garden enhancement project, planning to plant flowers, fruits, and vegetables to harvest, as well as revamping a mural. The third group is focusing on exterior beautification, with plans to improve sports courts and fields and repaint activity areas like foursquare and hopscotch zones.

According to Johnson, a significant advantage of this program is introducing students to a variety of careers within the STEM field : “There are numerous career paths that entail problem-solving.”

Engaging and encouraging STEM passion

The EPICS High program goes beyond academics; it instills in students the importance of service and increases their interest in STEM pathways. The goal? To spark an enduring appreciation for STEM, preparing students for success in college, careers, and beyond. As such, EPICS serves as an essential tool in promoting real-world STEM learning experiences and preparing students for the future.

In designing, building, and deploying systems to solve engineering-based problems for their community, students hone their skills as engineers and social entrepreneurs. They aren’t waiting to graduate to make a difference—they’re tackling real-world problems today, preparing for STEM careers while still in high school.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (February 23, 2024) — The Quad-City and Engineering Council, or QCESC, held the 62nd annual Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Celebration on February 22 2024.

The event celebrates and showcases the region's STEM professionals, educators, and the next generation of STEM professionals.

At the event, held during National Engineers Week, seventeen scholarships valued at $31,500 were awarded. This was the thirty-first year that the QCESC has awarded STEM scholarships to encourage students to pursue STEM careers. Including this year, 244 scholarships have been awarded valued at over $410,000.

Virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence are prominent growth areas that are quickly becoming a part of numerous economic sectors, University of New Orleans chemistry professor Matt Tarr said. On Tuesday, UNO held a grand opening for Beyond Reality, a virtual reality maker space in the Earl K. Long Library that allows students and the community to use virtual reality tools for business development, education and other applications.

“The idea is to be an open access facility for schools, community groups and start-up businesses,” said Tarr. “ Beyond Reality is an excellent resource for the development of mixed reality media that can be applied across multiple sectors.”

Those tools include a lab equipped with a bank of computers that have pre-installed software, virtual reality hardware and VR compatible headsets. The lab is located in Room 320C of the library.

“In a physical maker’s space, if you need a drill press or sanding, you can go there and you can pay an hourly rate and use the tools,” said Tarr. “This is the same thing, except instead of woodshop machines, we have virtual reality tools.”

The virtual reality tools lab is funded in part by a grant from The National Center for Advanced Manufacturing (NCAM) partnership among NASA, the State of Louisiana, LSU and UNO.

The NCAM research and production center, located at the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, focuses on applying advanced manufacturing technologies for use in aerospace and related industries.

“These resources are currently supporting wind training development at UNO and The Beach,” Tarr said. “Additional applications in training secondary school and college students in STEM disciplines is also underway using the facility.”

With a growing number of wind energy developments proposed for Louisiana, and with companies in the state helping to create the first commercial offshore wind farm in the United States, Tarr is creating mixed reality training tools for wind turbine inspection and repair.

“The tools we are creating will be used for training offshore wind turbine technicians,” Tarr said. “The project will aid in workforce development and improved training programs to support the developing offshore wind industry in Louisiana.”

In collaboration with the immersive content studio, Top Right Corner, Beyond Reality at UNO features software that allows for training, gaming and scientific exploring, Tarr said. During Tuesday’s ceremony, attendees were able to virtually sail into the Gulf of Mexico and explore wind turbines while “standing” on an offshore platform.

“This is about taking you to a wind turbine so you’re actually able to go out into the Gulf and see what those will look like at a different period and time,” said Dan Clifton, founder of Top Right Corner. “It really helps you to visualize it and understand how big it is and understand how all those things work.”

Meanwhile, back on land, students in chemistry are offered a new perspective on learning about density. Traditionally, it is the “most boring” lab, Tarr said with a laugh. However, the immersive version makes for a more engaging experience, he said.

“We created a virtual reality laboratory. We call it ‘Dense Makes Sense,’” Tarr said. “Students, from middle school to college, who use it come out and say, ‘Wow, that was so cool!’ So, we’re really excited about the ability to engage students and hold their interest.”

Through the Beyond Reality program, Tarr said UNO will offer on-campus and off-site classes and programs for local public and private schools. For a second year, UNO will offer a free virtual reality and 3-D design summer camp for students in 8th-11th grades, he said.

This summer, a virtual reality labs workshop will be offered for middle and high school teachers, which includes a $200 stipend.

Middle and high school students get hands-on STEM learning at ISU

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) - Hundreds of middle and high school students gathered at Idaho State University for its annual Bengal STEM Day on Thursday. The event is designed to inspire these students to be interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields.


ISU faculty, students and local STEM professionals hosted several activities, demonstrations and hands-on workshops.

“I think it's so important for this kind of event to happen,” Idaho National Laboratory’s K-12 STEM Education Coordinator Sunshine Shepherd said. “So these students get exposure to STEM and the opportunities that are there for them, even starting at a young age.”

The middle and high school students got to make mini-catapults, build and test popsicle stick bridges try to make eggs survive being launch at a wall at more than 70 miles an hour.

“To have folks actually apply science, do it instead of just reading about it—that makes all the difference in education,” ISU Physics Professor Steve Shropshire said. “And frankly, giving them an interesting, engaging and fun activity involving science is actually a great enrichment.”

This event has been held annually for years, but this is only the second time it’s been held since the COVID-19 pandemic.
