Description
Choose this reading and discussion guide and dramatic exposition annotation activity when your high school ELA class begins reading The Crucible . In Arthur Miller's play, the playwright uses dramatic exposition to provide essential background about the events and characters in his play and to enhance his allegory portraying Joseph McCarthy's Red Scare in the United States in the 1950s. This activity prompts close reading of those sections. Also included in this bundle are close reading questions for Act 1 examining characterization, plot, literary devices, theme, and more.
