Hi Aukai, Above in post #18 Dave mention the Lee Valley "Veritas" steel straight edges. They also have anodized aluminum ones: http://www.leevalley.com/us/wood/page.aspx?p=50074&cat=1,240,45313,50074 and also carry the Starrett ones: http://www.leevalley.com/us/wood/page.aspx?p=71658&cat=1,43513,51657 Just to show some of the range of materials, precision and price-points available. Another interesting read is this thread: http://hobby-machinist.com/threads/...-of-small-dovetail-gages-straightedges.59988/ if you have any inclination to make your own straight edge. Please let us know if/what you get and how it works out for you. -brino

Gettin there Mutt!
Yeah it's a slow process. But, I'm also doing other things around the house. It will take a little time.

This is mine from the outside. Its about 7-8 years old ,.... I think. Its on my private property out of town , but with a business permit from the local shire . ( with conditions) . I have yet to add signage to the outside and to my front gate, but everyone in town knows where I am anyway .

All the best with your workshop
Aven
Nice shed HS.

Is your workshop/shed insulated? I know a bloke who used coolroom panel to line his shed. I used coolroom panel to enclose the patio on my house. Best thing I ever did.
Thank you Aven . Theres still a few things I like to do to the outside, mainly just ' pretty it up' and maybe give it a more " western look " , with a few ' horsey' & western bits & pieces , some signage , and some colourful potted plants . I want it to look presentable to my customers . I'll get there eventually.
G'Day Rockoboy , yes, its insulated. Just go back and have a look on page two, I've put together a ' montage' of pics of my workshop. In one of them you can see the insulation on the walls & roof. It has made a difference. I have a kero heater ( which you can also see) , so with that and the insulation combined , its quite cozy . The air cond for summer is on the cards. I have two fans, but in 45- 50 deg heat on occasion, they just don't cut it, even with insulation
BM, have you had a chance to have a play with your Consew machine yet?

meant to ask the other day, did that fella give you casters on your table? I found this morning about 0330 that it was nice to be able to roll it out from the wall when doing a long french seam for a duffle bag.

No, no casters for me.
@Handstitched , I have played with it a little, but I'm definitely going to need a speed reducer before I chance using it on a project.

sure thing...got a 1lb spool of 138 thread in and leather points for it so will be practicing some more as soon as i get this bag done
BM, I know what you mean about the speed , the old Seiko can be a bit fast at times, so I've learnt to 'feather' it or even turn it by hand, mainly around corners. I've just become so used to it now.
But the fast speed has come in handy too as I have also done shade sails, shade cloths etc.
Well, I know this is a champagne problem but, now I have to make room for more tools, materials, and a 3200. The Lord just keeps blessing me.
So, the room is going to revert back to topsy turvy for a minute.
Ok I am finally making some more progress.

The right corner will become the power tool area, it will have to make do being a multi duty spot. Drill press, snap press, belt sander and the like.
Here is a picture of my main work station. Back wall got covered in French cleats.

I fabricated this top this morning. It is a super dense piece of steel grey granite. Very heavy even for granite.
And finally the consew 206rb-1 and the cowboy 3200.

Well, you can't really see them yet, but I promise they are there. Haha
Coming along nicely Mutt!

Thanks, this morning I have been going through stuff to sell or get rid of.
Seems like I'm not willing to get rid of most of it. Lol

I sat here laughing with my morning coffee because I did the very same thing. Went through everything and pulled out duplicates, sorted them into piles, good, bad and why do I have this, and well, except for the very small ugly pile, I'm just not sure I want to part with them right now. Its good to have back ups right? Might drop and break something and then what? It'll take days, weeks to replace it if I can find what I'm looking for. Most of my hand tools are ebay finds and are older then me and I'm working on being old.
Your shop is coming along nicely. You'll get it where you want it to be. Must say, I am jealous of your heavy iron. I would love to have a 3200.

It was one of those smokin hot deals across the country we sometimes see.
A friend helped me fund it and we shot out from Louisiana to Vegas and back in 54 hours.
It was a rough trip. But, worth it.
alpha2

Wow. That IS a trip. That also requires a GOOD friend! Road trips are like a trial marriage. Assuming there was such a thing, which isn't a bad idea, come to think of it.
The thing about starting a major clean-up, re-organization, etc, is to actually start it! Mission accomplished.

Dang! That was a heck of a trip. Google Maps says its a 20.5 hrs trip just to get there. You guys were hauling, but it looks like it was well worth the trip.
Yeah we crashed for 3 hours in Flagstaff. And that was it. Spent 3 hours in Vegas loading and then straight back.

They are fab! As mentioned above you could definitely sell them on Etsy. Don't under price them if you do decide to sell them. Do some research and see what similar things go for.
