This topic has never been a clearly-defined genre. Politics can simply refer to the activities surrounding the governance and parties of a country. If we talk about large democratic a country like India, which is also the largest democracy in the world having different cultures and religions, politics becomes complicated. Politics is not restricted only to the ruling party. It also has the role of the other parties who are in the race to achieve the position of the ruling party. Essay On Politics - 100, 200, 500 Words

If I say the word 'politics' , your mind will probably define it as the way in which countries are governed and the way any government takes decisions. Politics is a part of our everyday life. We all see certain politics going on in some common places like companies, clubs, schools, etc. Politics is closely related to the concept of power. Politicians will not be able to enforce their opinion on the people if they don't have power and respect.

Politicians are the people that come together to form a political party and, eventually, those parties lead to the formation of the government. Some examples of parties are the Liberal party, the Labor Party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Greens. There are certain responsibilities of the government for the betterment of the country, such as:

Deciding about the division of land.

Creating a hierarchical system of decision-making.

Decide whether to have war with another country and other foreign policies.

Create money to increase the GDP.

Build things for the public, such as roads, hospitals, libraries, and docks.

Educate people about the removal of illiteracy.

Ensuring good medical supplies to the people.

Manage the welfare of the country and the money available for spending on services.

Whenever you hear the term politics, you might think of the government, politicians and political parties. But in an actual sense, the exercise of authority, the science of governance, the making of unified decisions, the distribution of resources wisely, and the art of duplicity and exploitation, are all terms that can be used to describe politics.

Politics refers to the ways in which individuals and groups make decisions about the distribution of power and resources in society. It involves the study of governments, political systems, and ideologies, as well as the ways in which people participate in the political process.

We require an organisation for our country to work as per guidelines. This is where the government is required, and eventually, politics comes. Countries, groups and organisations use politics in many ways for their events, prospects and many other things. Politics is not only limited to those who are in power. Every other person who is in the race of achieving a target is a part of politics.

Elements Of Politics

One of the key elements of politics is the concept of power, which refers to the ability of individuals or groups to control resources and make decisions that affect others. In democratic societies, power is typically dispersed among a variety of institutions, such as the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government.

Another important aspect of politics is the role of interest groups, which are organisations that represent specific groups of people and advocate for their interests. These groups can play a significant role in shaping public policy and influencing the political process.

In addition, politics is also concerned with the study of ideologies, which are sets of beliefs and values that inform political decision-making. Some common ideologies include conservatism, liberalism, and socialism.

Ultimately, politics is a complex and dynamic field that plays a crucial role in shaping society and determining the distribution of resources and power. Whether through the electoral process, activism, or simply participating in public discourse, it is important for citizens to engage with politics in order to ensure that their voices are heard and their interests are represented.

If we look at any random country, we can see so many non-deserving candidates get into power and then misuse it for their purpose, leading to the root cause of corruption. Because of this corruption, the deserving person lacks behind, and the one with money gets what they want.

We are required to save our country from corruption and dirty politics. It is just like a parasite eating away the development and growth of the country and its resources. All of us must unite to work for the prosperous future of our country.

Life of Politicians

Politics seems very fascinating because of the life of politicians we witness. We are attracted to the authority they have in decision-making. Once in our lifetime, you must have dreamt of being a politician, maybe because you are not satisfied with the policies of the government or simply wanted the luxurious life of politicians, which is just one side of the coin. They also have to work all the time for the country's betterment and development to maintain their position. Though it may seem easy to be a politician, it is way harder and more challenging than it looks.

Democracy is a form of government in which the final authority to deliberate and decide the legislation for the country lies with the people, either directly or through representatives. Within a democracy, the method of decision-making, and the demarcation of citizens vary among countries. However, some fundamental principles of democracy include the rule of law, inclusivity, political deliberations, voting via elections , etc.

Did you know: On 15th August 1947, India became the world’s largest democracy after adopting the Indian Constitution and granting fundamental rights to its citizens?

Democracy where people make decisions for the country is the only known form of governance in the world that promises to inculcate principles of equality, liberty and justice. The deliberations and negotiations to form policies and make decisions for the country are the basis on which the government works, with supreme power to people to choose their representatives, delegate the country’s matters and express their dissent. The democratic system is usually of two types, the presidential system, and the parliamentary system. In India, the three pillars of democracy, namely legislature, executive and judiciary, working independently and still interconnected, along with a free press and media provide a structure for a truly functional democracy. Despite the longest-written constitution incorporating values of sovereignty, socialism, secularism etc. India, like other countries, still faces challenges like corruption, bigotry, and oppression of certain communities and thus, struggles to stay true to its democratic ideals.

As Abraham Lincoln once said, “democracy is the government of the people, by the people and for the people.” There is undeniably no doubt that the core of democracies lies in making people the ultimate decision-makers. With time, the simple definition of democracy has evolved to include other principles like equality, political accountability, rights of the citizens and to an extent, values of liberty and justice. Across the globe, representative democracies are widely prevalent, however, there is a major variation in how democracies are practised. The major two types of representative democracy are presidential and parliamentary forms of democracy. Moreover, not all those who present themselves as a democratic republic follow its values.

Many countries have legally deprived some communities of living with dignity and protecting their liberty, or are practising authoritarian rule through majoritarianism or populist leaders. Despite this, one of the things that are central and basic to all is the practice of elections and voting. However, even in such a case, the principles of universal adult franchise and the practice of free and fair elections are theoretically essential but very limited in practice, for a democracy. Unlike several other nations, India is still, at least constitutionally and principally, a practitioner of an ideal democracy.

With our three organs of the government, namely legislative, executive and judiciary, the constitutional rights to citizens, a multiparty system, laws to curb discrimination and spread the virtues of equality, protection to minorities, and a space for people to discuss, debate and dissent, India has shown a commitment towards democratic values. In recent times, with challenges to freedom of speech, rights of minority groups and a conundrum between the protection of diversity and unification of the country, the debate about the preservation of democracy has become vital to public discussion.

Did you know: In countries like Brazil, Scotland, Switzerland, Argentina, and Austria the minimum voting age is 16 years?

Also Read: Difference Between Democracy and Dictatorship

Democracy originated from the Greek word dēmokratiā , with dēmos ‘people’ and Kratos ‘rule.’ For the first time, the term appeared in the 5th century BC to denote the political systems then existing in Greek city-states, notably Classical Athens, to mean “rule of the people.” It now refers to a form of governance where the people have the right to participate in the decision-making of the country. Majorly, it is either a direct democracy where citizens deliberate and make legislation while in a representative democracy, they choose government officials on their behalf, like in a parliamentary or presidential democracy.

The presidential system (like in the USA) has the President as the head of the country and the government, while the parliamentary system (like in the UK and India) has both a Prime Minister who derives its legitimacy from a parliament and even a nominal head like a monarch or a President.

The notions and principle frameworks of democracy have evolved with time. At the core, lies the idea of political discussions and negotiations. In contrast to its alternatives like monarchy, anarchy, oligarchy etc., it is the one with the most liberty to incorporate diversity. The ideas of equality, political representation to all, active public participation, the inclusion of dissent, and most importantly, the authority to the law by all make it an attractive option for citizens to prefer, and countries to follow.

The largest democracy in the world, India with the lengthiest constitution has tried and to an extent, successfully achieved incorporating the framework to be a functional democracy. It is a parliamentary democratic republic where the President is head of the state and the Prime minister is head of the government. It works on the functioning of three bodies, namely legislative, executive, and judiciary. By including the principles of a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic, and undertaking the guidelines to establish equality, liberty and justice, in the preamble itself, India shows true dedication to achieving the ideal.

It has formed a structure that allows people to enjoy their rights, fight against discrimination or any other form of suppression, and protect their rights as well. The ban on all and any form of discrimination, an independent judiciary, governmental accountability to its citizens, freedom of media and press, and secular values are some common values shared by all types of democracies.

Across the world, countries have tried rooting their constitution with the principles of democracy. However, the reality is different. Even though elections are conducted everywhere, mostly, they lack freedom of choice and fairness. Even in the world’s greatest democracies, there are challenges like political instability, suppression of dissent, corruption , and power dynamics polluting the political sphere and making it unjust for the citizens. Despite the consensus on democracy as the best form of government, the journey to achieve true democracy is both painstaking and tiresome.

Create Your Politics Essay Thesis Statement

Thesis statements, in general, serve as a starting point of the roadmap for the reader. A political essay thesis statement outlines the main ideas and arguments presented in the body paragraphs and creates a general sense of the content of the paper.

persuasive politics essay

Creating a thesis statement for essays about politics in the initial stages of writing can help you stay focused and on track throughout the working process. You can use it as an aim and constantly check your arguments and evidence against it. The question is whether they are relevant and supportive of the statement.

Get creative when creating a statement. This is the first sentence readers will see, and it should be compelling and clear.

The following is a great example of a clear and persuasive thesis statement:

'The lack of transparency and accountability has made the World Trade Organization one of the most controversial economic entities. Despite the influence, its effectiveness in promoting free trade and economic growth in developing countries has decreased.'

Provide Facts in Your Essay about Politic

It's a no-brainer that everything you will write in your essay should be supported by strong evidence. The credibility of your argument will be questioned every step of the way, especially when you are writing about sensitive subjects such as essays on government influence on economic troubles.

Provide facts and use them as supporting evidence in your politics essay. They will help you establish credibility and accuracy and take your paper out of the realm of speculation and mere opinions.

Facts will make your essay on political parties more persuasive, unbiased, and targeted to larger audiences. Remember, the goal is to bring the light to the core of the issue and find a solution, not to bring people even farther apart.

Speaking of facts, many students claim that when they say ' write my essay for me ' out loud, our writing team is the fastest to respond and deliver high-quality essays meeting their trickiest requirements.

Structure Your Political Essay

Your main goal is to communicate your ideas to many people. To succeed, you need to write an essay that is easy to read and understand. Creating a structure will help you present your ideas logically and lead the readers in the right direction.

Sometimes when writing about political essay topics, we get carried away. These issues can be very emotional and sensitive, and writers are not protected from becoming victims of their own writings. Having a structure will keep you on track, only focusing on providing supported arguments and relevant information.

Start with introducing the thesis statement and provide background information. Followed by the body paragraphs and discuss all the relevant facts and standpoints. Finish it up with a comprehensive conclusion, and state the main points of your essay once again.

The structure will also save you time. In the beginning, creating an outline for essays on politics will give you a general idea of what should be written, and you can track your progress against it.

Revise and Proofread Your Final Politics Essay

Once every opinion is on the paper and every argument is well-constructed, one final step should be taken. Revision!

We know nothing is better than finishing the homework and quickly submitting it, but we aim for an A+. Our political essay must be reviewed. You need to check if there is any error such as grammatical, spelling, or contextual.

How to Write a Concept Paper: Easy Guide for Students

  • 150 Political Essay Topics

Whether it’s for a political science class, government class, or history class, you will eventually have to write a political essay. A political essay explores the various explanations for particular events that have transpired in the past and the different effects of those events on society and politics.

Political essays can be pretty challenging for students because the depth and scope of the subject matter can be quite vast. Additionally, a lack of knowledge about the workings of government and the political process can make writing a political essay quite difficult.

Fortunately, we’ve created a handy guide detailing essential components of political essay writing. Additionally, we’ve included 150 political essay topics students can use to get started.

The Basic Components of a Political Essay

Regardless of the topic’s complexity, political essays all have the same essential components – an introduction, a thesis, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Students can create an assertive and well-crafted political essay by understanding how these components work together.

The Introduction

The introduction of a political essay should grab the reader’s attention and give them an overview of the main points covered in the essay. An excellent way to do this is by starting with a provocative statement or posing a thought-provoking question. A great example of a political essay introduction could sound something like:

“In a world where the powerful seem to always get their way, is there any hope for democracy?”

The Thesis Statement

The thesis statement is the most critical component of a political essay. It is the main argument or points that the essay will be making. Everything else in the essay should support the thesis statement. A thesis statement is probably the most challenging part of writing a political essay for many students because it can be challenging to distill the essay’s main argument into one or two sentences.

Some tips for writing a strong thesis statement include:

  • Make sure that the thesis statement is arguable. In other words, it should be something that someone could reasonably disagree with.
  • Be as specific as possible. A thesis statement that is too vague will make it difficult to write a strong essay.
  • Keep it short and to the point. A thesis statement should be no more than one or two sentences.

Great examples of a political essay thesis statement include:

“The current state of democracy is in danger due to the rise of populist leaders who exploit the fears of the people.”

“The government should do more to combat the rising inequality in society by implementing policies that help the working class.”

The Body Paragraphs

The body paragraphs of a political essay are where the essay’s main argument will be fleshed out in detail. Each body paragraph should focus on one specific point that supports the thesis statement. When writing body paragraphs, it is essential to:

  • Start with a topic sentence that introduces the main point
  • Support the topic sentence with evidence from credible sources.
  • Connect the evidence back to the thesis statement.
  • Repeat for each body paragraph.

The Conclusion

The conclusion of a political essay should sum up the main points of the essay and leave the reader with a solid and clear understanding of the argument being made. A great conclusion should:

  • Restate the thesis statement in different words.
  • Summarize the main points of the essay.
  • Leave the reader with something to think about.

Some examples of final thoughts to end a political essay could be:

“It is clear that democracy is under threat from populist leaders. However, there is still hope as long as people remain engaged and fight for their rights.”

“The current state of democracy may be troubling, but it is nothing new. Throughout history, there have always been those who seek to undermine it. The key is to remain vigilant and to stand up for what we believe in.”

The Do’s and Don’ts of Political Essay Writing

While the tips above will help you write a solid political essay, there are also some things to avoid if you want your essay to be successful. Here are some dos and don’ts of writing a political essay:

Do research your topic inside and out.

A well-informed essay is always more persuasive than one that simply regurgitates the opinions of others. When researching, always use reliable sources and take good notes so you can easily refer back to them later.

Don’t forget to proofread and edit your work.

No matter how well-written and informative an essay is, if it is full of typos and grammatical errors, it will likely not make a good impression on the reader. Before submitting, proofread your work and fix any errors you may have missed.

Do be sure to stay objective.

A political essay is not the place for you to share your personal opinions. Instead, it should be a well-reasoned and unbiased exploration of the topic at hand.

Don’t forget to cite your sources.

If you use any information from outside sources in your essay, be sure to properly cite them according to the required citation style. Not only is failing to do so plagiarism, but it also makes your argument look weaker if you cannot back up your claims with evidence.

Do try to be concise.

A political essay is not the place to ramble on and on. Instead, get to the point and make your argument in as few words as possible. This will keep the reader engaged and prevent them from getting lost in your essay.

With the advice above, you should be well on your way to writing a successful political essay. However, if you need some additional inspiration, here are 150 more essay topics to get you started.

Tips for writing Politics essays

15 February 2023 by Kitty

Hiya! I’m Kitty, and I study Politics with International Relations at the University of York! In my blog post, I share the methods I’ve developed to write a good Politics essay. Academic writing is very different to anything I had done before, and it took me a while to understand how to go about developing the correct skills.

Expectations vs reality

When I started university, I felt confident that I’d have no issues with writing essays, as it was something I was well practised in thanks to my A levels. When I received feedback suggesting that my approach to academic essays and writing wasn’t quite right, I felt my confidence waver and I was unsure how to adapt my skills. Through a bit of trial and error, I have developed an approach to essays which has drastically improved my confidence and skill.

Essay preparation

Throughout first year, I noticed that my skills improved as I read more academic articles. These exposed me to academic writing, and just through reading them for seminar work, I noticed that I was becoming more accustomed to the style. When I first started writing essays, I found looking back at articles an easy way to remind myself of the style and format.

I also started putting more effort into the formative assessments, as this is the main opportunity to receive feedback on your essay style. If the feedback is ever unclear or leaves me with questions, I make sure to go to the tutor’s feedback and guidance hours. I often find verbal discussions more useful than written feedback, so I try to make a note of any important information. This way, I am able to remind myself of what was said while I’m writing the essay.

Do some wider reading

When I plan an essay, I like to start by reading some of the key resources on the topic to ensure that I have a good understanding of the central debates. I usually look through the reading list on the VLE, as this tends to have the most relevant resources. As I’m reading these, I will make a note of the resources they reference, as this is another quick way to find the relevant texts. While reading, I make notes of any nuggets of information or quotes that I think could be useful to include in my essay. I always try to note the page numbers as I go, to save myself from having to search through again later.

Give your essay some structure

Once I feel that I have read enough resources to give me a good overview of the topic, I think of how I want to structure my essay, using the existing literature to develop my own argument. I start by creating a rough structure of the essay using bullet points and brief notes of what will be said where. I then start to expand the bullet points by adding in references to resources and my own opinion. Slowly the bullet points transform into sentences, paragraphs, sections, and eventually an essay.

Often, I find that I need to adapt the essay as I write, and I always try to leave enough time to have a few days break from it. This allows me to re-read the essay with fresh eyes. Having some distance from my work helps me identify any errors in the writing or overall structure, and gives me time to make any changes I see necessary. I also try to get a friend or family member to read over the essay to ensure it’s understandable to someone who’s not as close to the topic. This is important, as sometimes I phrase something in a way which I think is digestible, but actually isn’t very clear.

I have developed this approach to essays through a lot of trial and error, but find that a methodical and steady style works best for me.

Best of luck in your future essays!

How to Structure A Level Politics Essay

  • by Study Politics

Are you struggling to write your next politics essay? Hundreds of thousands of students take their A-levels each year, all of them aim to get the best possible grade. But how do you get started getting the best Politics A-level grade you can? Read on for our guide to structure the perfect A Level politics essay, useful for both AQA and Edexcel boards.

Understand the Politics Essay Question

First, you need to understand your essay question to formulate a proper response to it. Read the question very carefully, and don’t make assumptions about what you’re reading. It’s easy to answer the question that isn’t in front of you. Circle any keywords that appear in the question, and make sure you understand the command word (such as evaluate, analyse or to what extent).

Get Planning

Be sure to start your politics essay by making a plan. This involves gathering your thoughts about what could ‘support’ or ‘oppose’ the argument. You should also plan what case studies you need to bring in, alongside planning which side of the argument you sit on. There are up to 33% of marks available for your conclusions and which side of the essay you are on, so make sure to include this!

You can also look at past papers  to help you get an idea of what you should aim for when writing your own essay. A Level Politics past papers are a very useful resource as they allow you to see what the structure of the exam is, and the style of questions you could be asked.

Start Your Layout

The general layout of your politics essay should be as followed:

  • Introduction: give definitions, the general outline of your argument, and the side you support.
  • Point (AO1)
  • Evidence (AO1/AO2)
  • Explain (AO2)
  • Conclusion: bring the argument back around and firmly state your opinion on the debate.

You’ll need at least two paragraphs to argue one side of the question you’re evaluating and at least two paragraphs to argue the other side of the question. Each separate point in your essay should be its own paragraph to ensure it’s readable and clearly understood, with relevant examples/evidence and detailed explanations. Each paragraph should finish by linking back to the question in order to give strong and substantiated judgement.

And, when you’re writing a politics essay, follow the directions down to the letter. If the question has a source included, make sure you use it to form the basis of your arguments. The “rubric” on the question will include guidance such as referring to specific points or using a source.

When you use a source to support an argument, make sure you explain why the fact that this source supports you matters — why a source is authoritative, in other words.

If you’re having trouble, start by laying out your answer in a table so that you can see exactly what you need to get done over the course of your answer to support your argument. And, that way, you’ll avoid missing anything important while you write your essay.

Master the Assessment Objectives

There are three Assessment Objectives (AOs) for your A Level Politics essays:

  • AO1: knowledge & understanding
  • AO2: analysis
  • Ao3: conclusions & evaluation

It’s important to note that a large proportion of your marks come from assessment objectives other than knowledge. This means that you need to be able to analyse and evaluate your points rather than memorise facts. It’s therefore critical to practice your exam technique to maximise your marks in these assessment objectives.

The Influence Of Bias In Politics

Most of modern society thinks that politicians are corrupt, and filled with deceit and manipulation. The opinions of society occur in politics all the time such as in speeches, it’s what makes politics, peoples opinions. Opinions also carry down to news media presenting bias to the world as we know it, modern society interprets bias as to make an impact on politics and political events. Obama the Hamiltonian written by Matt Stoller contributor at Huffington post (article 1), and Empty Outrage written by Megan Carpentier contributing editor for opinion at U.S. news (article 2) both have difference in opinion and about the matter on hand. The topic presented in both article one and two states that former president Barak Obama recently accepted

What Is The Role Of Political Bias In The 1800's

“Just the facts ma’am,” this simple, yet authoritative phrase is from the 1949 – 2004 (off and on) Radio/Television/Movie franchise named Dragnet. The character Sgt. Joe Friday of the Los Angeles Police Department spoke these words on multiple occasions during interrogations where his subjects were rambling and he needed, objectively, just the facts.

News Programs Bias And Political Party

A news programs bias and political party standings can effect what types of propaganda they show of certain candidates. For example, FOX news is a strictly Republican news channel, it supports Republican candidate, meanwhile news channels such as MSNBC and PBS are extremely democratic programs and support Democratic candidates in elections. News programs political bias can affect the way that particular program portrays a candidate for an upcoming election and a candidate’s portrayal can change a voter’s opinion of a candidate and can cause that candidate to lose viewers’ votes. The broadcasting of malicious rumors and gossip in any form by news programs gives a negative conception to a viewer. No viewer wants to vote for a candidate that is portrayed in a way that makes the viewer believe that they are bad for the country. Every viewer needs to take in to consideration the political bias of a news program before changing his or her opinion of a candidate as well as do some research on the candidates of an election themselves.

Bias In The Media

Lack of media influence in present-day democracies makes accountability and openness virtually impossible. Nevertheless, the media is a powerful tool that can be used to either support or hinder political transparency. Can we, as Americans, really believe the media? If so, how can we find clarity on what’s true and what’s not? In most cases, the media tends to translate coverage of politics and law into forms of entertainment for the American people (London, 2015). However, the media also acts a powerful informant of the country’s political issues and status. Consequently, this triggers a great dilemma among the American people as to whether or not to believe the media. As a result, it is a major challenge among the citizens to differentiate

Media Bias And The Media

Media has become an integral part of the lives of both Americans and people all around the world. It has its influences on different aspects of a person’s aspect on life. Many political analysts have looked at the influence of media on elections, especially as the media has become more prominent in the world. With technology becoming more and more a n integral part of the daily life of a person, this subject will become that much more relevant. We live in a time where almost every person in the developing and developed world has consistent access to a television, and therefore has that constant exposure to media. Almost everywhere a person goes, they will be exposed to the media. There are several factors that have been examined to determine the exact role that the media holds in the outcome of elections. One theory on the subject is that the national media has a different role than local medias do when it comes to levels on influence on elections The other two theories that will be discussed are media bias and that the amount of exposure to media has an effect on the amount of influence. Another theory is that the existence of a correlation is a false perception. All of these theories will be analyzed in this paper, as well as others. Different studies and analysis have different explanations for the correlation between media influence and elections. The factors analyzed have been viewed to show different variations in the relationship between the two. The findings of

Ethical Responsibility Of Media Bias

Though the misinterpretation and ignorance of honest news through perceptual bias is formed by individuals, it’s a shame that the remaining three-fourths of bias is deliberately carried out by reporters and journalists themselves. The main issue at hand is that journalists today feel that their own opinions are correct and superior to others; therefore, they are sure to only circulate information that will get citizens to see things their way, as opposed to giving an honest, impartial version of the truth. When asked if today’s media influences the opinions of citizens for better or for worse, Shane McNabb, a fellow news consumer, explains that “media outlets influence people when they have obvious biases. They tell you only what they want you to hear, and often out of context. This is often the case for both liberal and conservative outlets, and people end up either not knowing what to believe or taking on the opinion of the biased outlet”

Bias In Brave New World

Technological advancements in the past few decades established tremendous accomplishments and developments in the methods used to distribute information to people in various parts of the world. Whether it be through television news, radio, social media, or the numerous other available sources, most individuals retain access to news regarding the myriad of ongoings around the world. Nevertheless, the sources of these reports are often unknown, and at times unreliable. Well-meaning but misguided consumers of the news often believe all information presented to them and assume its accuracy. However, these assumptions bring great danger, and their continuation will ultimately lead to an ignorant, dystopian society such as the one represented in Brave New World.

Politics 's Influence On National Politics

1. Politics in the West had a significant influence on national politics between the late 1800s and early 1900s. To begin with, the emergence of the populists contributed strongly in national politics. At first, the West and the South organized the Farmer’s Alliance which would eventually merge into the People’s Party, later known as the Populist Party. They supported public ownership of railroads, protection of lands from monopolies, a federal income tax, and a looser monetary policy. They were able to influence many to listen to them and were able to win support of many as seen when they captured 4/5ths of the lower house of Kansas legislature and most of the congressional seats. Unfortunately, the party would not last very long as they

Interpreting Bias Within Historical Accounts

History is often regarded as strictly defined and unyielding, particularly by those who uphold the rationalist view that it is possible for a human being to objectively record observations of an event. However, the romantic view of reading history is more in line with the reality that all nonfiction literature is subject to the bias of those writing it. The romantic approach embraces what those fixated on their rationalist views try desperately to ignore, which is the fact that history is fundamentally a record of an individual’s personal experience. To learn from a historical account, one must treat an author’s bias as an opportunity to uncover “truths” that can be even more meaningful than the unattainable accurate representation of facts. A primary example of how history can be obscured by writers is the way in which two Englishmen, William Bradford (1590-1657) and Thomas Morton (1579-1647), provide two very different accounts of the same events in Of Plymouth Plantation and in New English Canaan respectively. Both men are affected by the desire to promote their beliefs and to make their tales appear authentic; therefore, both accounts are biased. After evaluating the two authors’ backgrounds and beliefs and how they affect their writing, as well as the discrepancies within the two narratives, a critical reader may regard Morton’s account as more credible. Personally, it was not the inconsistencies in either account that were

Ideological Bias

Throughout the course of Mass Media and Politics we have learned about how the news is made, who makes the news, why certain things are news, and how the news impacts the public. One underlying question that remains is about the bias that the news presents or if there is a bias at all. The debate about the bias in national news is a pressing one that many may not be aware of; however, its importance is crucial to our

Academic Bias

It is expected that science should give objective and reasonable explanations for any phenomena. However, every treatise is the result of thorough work of a scholar and obviously contains someone’s personal opinion, in other words, bias. Bias in general is described as the influence of one’s beliefs and attitudes on his actions and decisions (Greenwald & Krieger, 2006; Staats, 2016). The question is for what purpose is it done and how does it influence people’s perceptions?

Political Persuasion: The Influence Of Political Advertising On Voting

To some people, first impressions are everything. According to psychologist Daniel Kahneman, “If people are failing, they look inept. If people are succeeding, they look strong and good and competent. That's the 'halo effect.' Your first impression of a thing sets up your subsequent beliefs. If the company looks inept to you, you may assume everything else they do is inept.” Many believe that the first minutes or even seconds of interaction are crucial to perception character and to establishing oneself as a leader. In the presidential debates, candidates are given anywhere between thirty seconds and or a few minutes in the beginning to establish their image and set the tone for the debate. This short amount of time is enough to ascertain the defining characteristics of the candidate, the implications of these qualities, and the overall chance of success, likelihood of election, for the candidate.

Bias In The Intouchables

My research question is “how does the movie The Intouchables portray people with disabilities without bias?” I will be exploring this through the character Phillipe, who is played by Francois Cluzet. Philippe is a millionaire who becomes a paralyzed man from paragliding accident be good friend with Driss who takes care of him. The Intouchables makes me think about the paralyzed people in the society. How do the paralyzed people live in daily life?

The Role Of Self-Bias In The Majority

Behaviorism is made more difficult when there are no good behaviors known of, or sought out, to be nurtured. The fact that none are known indicates not the qualities of the person, but instead the biases of the observers. An indication of self-bias in the majority should raise serious concerns; because this manner of judgement is not linear, but rather shows network effects with feedback and self-reinforcing dynamics—and so the magnitude of the bias of the “many” can be difficult to accurately

The Theory Of Self Serving Bias

This paper will explain the concept of self-serving bias and provide examples of how we use self- serving bias in our daily lives. Two articles will be presented in this paper showing how researchers suggested the presence of self-serving attributional bias with people making more internal, stable, and global attributions for positive events, rather than for negative events. The second article will discuss how emotions, judgement, and attributions influence the self-serving bias. The methods used, and researching finds will be explained in further detail for each study. The purpose of this paper is to express and show scientific proof that our emotions, judgements, and attributions play a key role in influencing self-serving bias.

Example Of Conservatism Bias

Conservatism Bias is a mental process in which people cling to their prior views or forecasts at the expense of acknowledging new information. An example of conservatism bias is when people thought the world was flat, even though there was scientific facts that it was round. Even though they are showing you the real facts you do not want to admit it, you stay with your believes. I think every has done that at one point in their life. I know that I have, when people tell me something that I know it is right, but yet I have decided not to listen, when I need think I am going to pass an put coming test, but everyone knows I have not look at the material a lot and when I get a bad grade I am so surprised. When you use Conservatism bias you are

Student Politics Essay & Paragraph

There are two opinions on whether student politics is justifiable or not. If you would like to write an essay on student politics, or a paragraph, then your writing should have arguments and evidence in support of both opinions. One view of student politics is that it is good and fair, at least in the context of Bangladesh. Because the students have played a great role in the language movement and liberation war of this country. Another view is that students should study, not do politics. Politics interferes with their studies. In corrupt countries, leaders provide money and guns to students and use them for narrow party interests. There is partial truth in both these views. However, in neutral consideration, the negative opinion seems to be strong. Here we have shared a 500-word article titled “An Essay on Student Politics in Bangladesh”, and “A Paragraph on Student Politics in Bangladesh, 150 Words”. These will help the students to write their own essays and paragraphs on student politics.

Essay on Student Politics in Bangladesh

By: Haque | Words: 500 | For Class 9-12/SSC-HSC

Introduction: Student life is the time to acquire knowledge and to prepare oneself for the challenges of future life. The main job of a student is to study. Being aware of the social, economic, and cultural matters of one’s country is also important for a student. It is necessary for a student to have proper knowledge about problems related to his society and country and to prepare himself for solving those problems in a constructive way.

Justification of Student Politics: Whether student politics is justified is a matter of debate. Student politics has played a pivotal role in the liberation movement of this country. Still, considering the role of student politics in the present situation of Bangladesh one can hardly support student politics. It should not be an exaggeration to say that student politics has been criminalized in Bangladesh. Students are consistently being used in criminal and terrorist activities. Student wings of the political parties have become a safe haven for evil-doers. Considering this situation, it is reasonable to assume that student politics is not admissible in a country like Bangladesh.

Present Condition of Student Politics: There are many reasons behind the lamentable condition of student politics in Bangladesh. First of all, political leaders are misleading students in the name of politics and using the students to fulfill their narrow interests. The leaders provide money and arms to the students and take them away from active study. Secondly, the educational system of the country has failed to provide proper education and guidance to the students.

History of Student Politics: We have a glorious history of student politics. Under the occupation of the British and the Pakistanis, the students of the country have always worked actively to safeguard the interest of the mass people. They were like the conscience of the nation. They had remarkable contributions to the movements of liberation against British rule and the later Pakistani rule. The language movement of 1952 was basically organized by the students. Many people including students died in the movement to uphold the dignity of the mother language on the 21st February 1952.

Corrective Measures: The following measures may be undertaken to purge student politics. They may be as follows:

  • Student wings of the political parties should be abolished and students should be dissociated from the affiliation of political parties.
  • The scope and activities of student politics should be kept limited to personal awareness programs, and non-political student unions in the educational institutions.
  • Measures should be taken to prevent students from taking part in the crime. To this end, the environment of educational institutions and the quality of education need to be improved. Besides, the overall law and order situation of the country also needs improvement.

Conclusion: The education sector is of prime importance for the development of any country or nation. So, we will have to save our students and education system at any cost. Otherwise, we will have no good future whatsoever.

What is Politics? Definition Essay

The real meaning of politics may seem difficult to unravel because of the difference in systems of government, applications and functions or attributes of the politicians in different countries.

A Canadian definition of politics would significantly vary from that of an American since the Canadian sees politics as natural and a growth in human behavior. On the other hand, the American will view it as the most important discipline that determines the success or failure of a state.

It therefore suffices to claim that people do not see politics from the same perspective. They have different political ideologies, which they embrace ranging from conservatism, liberalism and even fascism.

Therefore, in my own definition, politics is an art and science of ensuring freedom, liberty, adherence to constitution, fairness and justice, equality and adherence of human rights.

Political opinions like any other opinion from someone can strengthen or weaken democracy of a nation based on the nature of the opinion. However, when clearly researched with the chosen sample acting as a representative of the entire population and views of people, opinion polls will strengthen democracy.

Furthermore, free and fair opinion polls result to the achievement democracy as opposed to discriminative polls, which lean on one side thereby interfering with the expected democracy. Such cases will automatically weaken democracy leading to dictatorship.

Therefore, It becomes vital to have an idea of what others thinks and feel about certain political ideas or an issue before making up our mind in order to understand the issue in context in depth to avoid making unsubstantial remarks about the same. Failure to do so will cause mayhem in the political field influencing us negatively even leading to our fall and lose of authority and trust.

Individuals’ ideas and ideologies form the basis of politics. These ideologies differ from one politician to another and may be positive or negative to the society. Ideologies and idea in politics are important because they provide the leadership style of a politician.

They assist a politician in formulating his/her policies thereby ensuring the adaptation of the best leadership. Furthermore, these ideas ad ideologies help a person to identify the kind of political systems a politician seems agitated for, whether liberal, socialism, conservatism and many others.

Many societies form their ideologies from the influence of the political socialization of the day. Therefore, it has a number of roles it plays in supporting the societal ideologies. For instance, it helps in providing guidelines and support through enactments of important bills as per the interest of the society at the same time denying the introduction of changes that the society does not embrace.

As a result, there stands three questions that I would ask a politician, given the chance, concerning his/her political beliefs. The answers of the questions would assist me in determining their ideologies.

Do you believe in the opinions of the people as determinants of the leadership styles? Who forms the agenda of the national politics? What is your preferred or role model philosopher and which ideology did he or she uphold?

As long as every society or nation upholds or cherishes its own ideologies, the ideologies have their strengths and weaknesses. Some of the strengths of liberalism include the promotion of freedom, equality of liberty and transparency in the government system and leadership of a country.

They therefore ensure that democracy prevails, as people are free to raise their own opinions and views without limitation. On the other hand, the weakness of liberalism is that the free space and freedom available can amount to misuse hence leading to poor governance.

Conservatism too has its own strengths for instance the transfer of good values and tradition from one government to another hence promoting the well-being of a country. The weakness of conservatism is that, the traditions that a state upholds may become absolute due to changes in the current society leading to redundancy in success of a country.

Socialism on the other hand has its strengths and weaknesses. Its strength is that it ensures that the society is united working together towards ensuring that every person grows and develops uniformly. But is has a weakness in that it de-motivate capitalism as those people working hard will not be motivated to do so hence retarding the growth of economy.

Ideologies provide the guiding principles of how the country is governed. They stipulate the philosophy on which the people of that particular country oblige in their day-to-day existence. There stand some values and beliefs, which may compromise certain ideologies.

These include beliefs in traditions: belief that certain ideologies like socialism hinder the growth of a country economically. Technology, religious beliefs, and social status among others too constitute the various beliefs and values. Political philosophy and ideologies have certain differences.

Political philosophy simply refers to the values, beliefs that politicians liaise as their point of references in their political careers while ideologies are set or predetermined thoughts postulated by a given philosopher on how people ought to carry out political activities.

Ordinary ideas simply constitute the day-to-day thoughts or feelings of an individual pertaining to a certain subject while ideologies are thoughts of a person, adopted or not adopted by a given society as their point of reference in their lives.

Essay on Politics: Politics is closely associated with bad and troubled waters in India’s democratic setup. They rule our governance systems. India is a country where the term politics implies the ruling government and its opposition in the hind end. A good political system should be based on ideologies, principles, strategies and diplomatic approaches. Indian politics rises to an all high during election times. Political parties run behind money and the unending greed for power.

Essay on Politics 500 Words in English

Below we have provided Essay on Politics, written in easy and simple words for class 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 school students.

Politics includes activities that are associated with the governance and administration of a country, state or area. It consists of a group of people who take decisions that apply to the organized human community. Human beings are distinct from animals because they have to create a life through struggle, decisions, choices rather than just relying on instincts. Therefore politics play a significant role in human’s life because it’s in their nature to be political. According to Aristotle, politics is adopted to improve the lives and to create a good society.

India is the biggest democracy in the world. It has a vast population where people are endowed with franchise rights and includes a more substantial number of political parties. The entire modal of government followed by India’s constitution was that of British rule. The election is held at various levels. National and state elections are different from elections held in city, town or village.

Types of Politics

If we trace back to the history politics was classified into four-Aristocracy, Oligarchy, Monarchy, and democracy.

  • Aristocracy means rule by the best. People believed that philosophers were qualified to become a political leader. Also, aristocracies were based on wealth and land ownership.
  • Oligarchy means rule by few, which meant the rich. The person with money donates or funds the candidate who works in their favour.
  • Monarchy is a rule-governed by a king or a queen. It is the most common form of politics in history and has been the target of many revolutionaries. Saudi Arabia is the country which still holds this concept.
  • Democracy is a government by the people, for the people. Citizens elect their representatives in the elections by casting their vote.

Dirty Politics

A type of politics in which people maintain a friendly attitude and persona to disguise their opponents and then attack them with vindictive actions. It is found in various industries and sectors. Dirty politics is a kind of politics in which people manipulate their behaviour to suit their interests and benefit. It neglects the overall development of the nation, thus crippling the system and making it weak. The growth of the country is hampered, and its essence is lost. For instance, the ministers of a different political party, in order to sabotage the position of the opposition use malicious measures.

Any means of methods are adopted to create fake news and allegations. Furthermore, they instil people with hatred and win elections in the majority. The entire media is orchestrated in their favour and against the opposition. The newspapers, news channel and social media platform are utilized to win the votes. The so-called politicians are corrupt and unscrupulous. The power and position to which they are entitled to be exploited in every possible way to fulfil their cruel intentions.

Their whole life flows through scams and frauds. They form a conviction of themselves attaining invincibility by acquiring the post. Hence they quickly get away from crime. Moreover, before assuming power, these politicians assure citizens that they will fulfil their promises and will heed to the public demands. Numerous plans and activities are organized to lure people into casting their vote. The campaigns during elections are littered with slogans concerning poor and underprivileged conditions.

Fake commitments and guarantees dominate the whole atmosphere. Citizens who are uneducated and unaware of their sly intentions fall and cast their vote. After the elections, as soon as they come in power, promises seem to be fade, and they start working for selfish motive. They think people are gullible and keep on fooling them in every election.

Essay on Indian Politics

The functioning of the political system is crucial for the smooth development of any country. India is no different. From being the largest democracy in the world and having the Prime Minister as the supreme leader of the country, Indian politics has its own charisma.

In the given below Indian politics essay, one can read all about the Indian political system, it's functioning, and the problems faced by it. For India, political scenarios and events play an important role.

The Various Shades of Indian Politics

India is the largest democracy in the world. Almost 1 out of every 6 humans in the world is an Indian. With such an enormous and diverse population, there are a number of political ideologies and political parties which are present and functioning all over the country. The constitution of India gives the right to every citizen of the country to form political parties and contest elections in the country. Although, Politics in India is not only limited to just political parties but has become central to all walks of life among everyone. Politics is said to be the art of influencing the will of the state. We have seen various pressure groups, advocacy groups, interests groups, etc which work in tandem with the political organizations. The work of the political parties is not just limited to winning elections, but it is the duty of every citizen of the country to ensure that our representatives remain responsive to the demand of the people and fulfill their electoral promises.

Political parties in India are generally of two major categories, these are National Parties and Regional parties. The National parties are those political organizations that have a substantial presence in most parts of the country while the Regional parties are those parties that are limited to just one state or a few states where they have some influence. The regional parties are generally formed on the lines of language as the states in India have been organized on the basis of language. The various political interest groups work along with these political parties to lobby for their interest and make sure that the issues which are of concern to the common people are brought to the attention of our leaders. The Media also plays a very vital role in the functioning of a democracy and has been recognized as the fourth pillar of a democracy.

Long Essay on Indian Politics

The functioning of the political system is crucial for the smooth development of any country. India is no different. From being the largest democracy in the world and having the Prime Minister as the supreme leader of the country, Indian politics has its own charisma. In the given below Indian politics essay, one can read all about the Indian political system, it's functioning, and the problems faced by it. For India, political scenarios and events play an important role.

Through this essay on Indian politics, one can get enlightened about working in the country's political system. The entire country revolves around the Indian political system. Every decision and law is taken into account for the development of the country.

An Indian politician is somebody who is elected from his/her constituency. Every politician has their constituency from where they are elected. They then actively delve into politics. Since independence, India has strived forward thanks to the laws implemented by politicians. Indians can take pride in the fact that they are the largest democracy in the world. The PM or prime minister heads the country. He is the head of the government formed at the center. Likewise, the president is head of the central and the state government.

The Indian parliament consists of the upper and lower house. The upper house is known as the Rajya Sabha and the lower house is called the Lok Sabha. The upper house consists of members who represent the states of the country. The lower house consists of members elected to represent the people of the country. The Supreme Court or SC is the protector of the constitution of India. Indian politics comprises three pillars that consist of the central leadership, state leadership, and the village or panchayat raj. The panchayat ray is still prominent in several villages and most rural parts of the country. Thanks to the 73rd constitutional amendment, local governance is acceptable. India is a democratic country where the leaders are elected through elections held once in four years.

The party with the largest vote bank after the election can claim their victory. To vote in India, one must be an Indian citizen, and above 18 years of age. They need to obtain an election card. Anybody can contest in the elections in India. The individual should be an Indian citizen and have completed 25 years of age. Additionally, there are a few more conditions to be met that most candidates become eligible for. In India, there are no criteria for contesting elections. Hence, it is not surprising to note that many legislators have little to no education. One can use NOTA when they feel that their constituent candidate is not well-educated or is worthy of the position.

In this paragraph on Indian politics, one learns about the lack of educational qualifications for the politicians. In most of the developed and developing countries, the politicians are an educated lot. Education and corruption cannot go hand in hand. The opposition needs to be proactive and take a tough stance on the ruling of the government. The country's few significant parties include BJP, Indian National Congress, CPI, AAP, BSP, and the SP.

It is safe to say that the political scenario can be changed for the greater good of the country and society.

Short Essay on Indian Politics

The information given below is suitable for the Indian politics essay 10th class syllabus. Students can make use of it during their examinations. In this short essay on Indian politics, one can read about the nuances of Indian politics.

Indian politics is compared to a great circus where different political parties fight till the end. Most of the elections are marred by corruption on a large scale. Sadly, the country's political climate decides on the communal, social, and economic condition of the country. In this paragraph on Indian politics, one finds out that when the political situation is unstable, then it gives rise to unwanted problems like civil wars and revolutions, as seen in Libya, Syria, and Egypt.

Indian politics has seen it all, right from the birth of the two single largest parties in India, the partition, emergency period, India-Bangladesh war, and the terror attacks. It is a colorful game indeed with plenty of good and bad happening side-by-side. One can hope that India progresses and matures with time. Hopefully, it will be for the greater good and development of the nation. The essay about Indian politics has shown that the freedom of choosing the kind of ideology one wants to take itself lies in Indian democracy.

Conclusion

To conclude the Indian politics essay in English, the Indian political scenario has seen it all. Rulers of dynamic capabilities and charismatic character have taken over the realms of the country.

Likes of Jawaharlal Nehru and Narendra Modi have adorned the coveted position of this country, which is a moment of pride for any Indian.

FAQs on Indian Politics Essay

1. What can one learn from the essay on Indian Politics?

The Indian politics essay reveals the existing Indian political system in the country. It is similar to a game of snake and ladders. Friends become one's enemies, and sworn enemies share the dais during election rallies.

The main issue plaguing the Indian political system is the lack of education. Even ministers occupying senior positions in the country are devoid of quality education. One can blame the lack of criteria when electing the minister.

According to the famous definition given by Abraham Lincoln, Democracy is a form of government that is for the people, by the people, and of the people. I’m a Neuroscientist. We’re Thinking About Biden’s Memory and Age in the Wrong Way.

President Biden seated in a chair holding a stack of what looks like index cards.

By Charan Ranganath

Dr. Ranganath is a professor of psychology and neuroscience and the director of the Dynamic Memory Lab at the University of California, Davis, and the author of the forthcoming book “Why We Remember: Unlocking Memory’s Power to Hold On to What Matters.”

The special counsel Robert K. Hur’s report, in which he declined to prosecute President Biden for his handling of classified documents, also included a much-debated assessment of Mr. Biden’s cognitive abilities.

“Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview with him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

As an expert on memory, I can assure you that everyone forgets. In fact, most of the details of our lives — the people we meet, the things we do and the places we go — will inevitably be reduced to memories that capture only a small fraction of those experiences.

It is normal to be more forgetful as you get older. Generally, memory functions begin to decline in our 30s and continue to fade into old age. However, age in and of itself doesn’t indicate the presence of memory deficits that would affect an individual’s ability to perform in a demanding leadership role. And an apparent memory lapse may or may not be consequential, depending on the reasons it occurred.

There is forgetting, and there is Forgetting. If you’re over the age of 40, you’ve most likely experienced the frustration of trying to grasp that slippery word on the tip of your tongue. Colloquially, this might be described as forgetting, but most memory scientists would call this retrieval failure, meaning that the memory is there but we just can’t pull it up when we need it. On the other hand, Forgetting (with a capital F) is when a memory is seemingly lost or gone altogether. Inattentively conflating the names of the leaders of two countries would fall in the first category, whereas being unable to remember that you had ever met the president of Egypt would fall into the second.

Over the course of typical aging, we see changes in the functioning of the prefrontal cortex, a brain area that plays a starring role in many of our day-to-day memory successes and failures. These changes mean that as we get older, we tend to be more distractible and often struggle to pull up words or names we’re looking for. Remembering events takes longer, and it requires more effort, and we can’t catch errors as quickly as we used to. This translates to a lot more forgetting and a little more Forgetting.

Many of the special counsel’s observations about Mr. Biden’s memory seem to fall in the category of forgetting, meaning that they are more indicative of a problem with finding the right information from memory than Forgetting. Calling up the date that an event occurred, like the last year of Mr. Biden’s vice presidency or the year of his son’s death, is a complex measure of memory. Remembering that an event took place is different from being able to put a date on when it happened, which is more challenging with increased age. The president very likely has many memories, even though he could not immediately pull up dates in the stressful (and more immediately pressing) context of the Oct. 7 attack on Israel.

Other “memory” issues highlighted in the media are not so much cases of forgetting as they are of difficulties in the articulation of facts and knowledge. For instance, in July 2023, Mr. Biden mistakenly stated in a speech that “we have over 100 people dead,” when he should have said, “over one million.” He has struggled with a stutter since childhood, and research suggests that managing a stutter demands prefrontal resources that would normally enable people to find the right word or at least quickly correct errors after the fact.

Americans are understandably concerned about the advanced age of the two top contenders in the coming presidential election (Mr. Biden is 81, and Donald Trump is 77), although some of these concerns are rooted in cultural stereotypes and fears around aging. The fact is that there is a huge degree of variability in cognitive aging. Age is, on average, associated with decreased memory, but studies that follow up the same person over several years have shown that although some older adults show precipitous declines over time, other super-agers remain as sharp as ever.

Mr. Biden is the same age as Harrison Ford, Paul McCartney and Martin Scorsese. He’s also a bit younger than Jane Fonda (86) and a lot younger than the Berkshire Hathaway C.E.O., Warren Buffett (93). All these individuals are considered to be at the top of their professions, and yet I would not be surprised if they are more forgetful and absent-minded than when they were younger. In other words, an individual’s age does not say anything definitive about the person’s cognitive status or where it will head in the near future.

I can’t speak to the cognitive status of any of the presidential candidates, but I can say that, rather than focus on candidates’ ages per se, we should consider whether they have the capabilities to do the job. Public perception of a person’s cognitive state is often determined by superficial factors, such as physical presence, confidence and verbal fluency, but these aren’t necessarily relevant to one’s capacity to make consequential decisions about the fate of this country. Memory is surely relevant, but other characteristics, such as knowledge of the relevant facts and emotion regulation — both of which are relatively preserved and might even improve with age — are likely to be of equal or greater importance.

Ultimately, we are due for a national conversation about what we should expect in terms of the cognitive and emotional health of our leaders.

And that should be informed by science, not politics.

                                                                                                                     Indian Politics Essay

Background of Indian Politics

Politics in India, like any other democratic country, involves the ruling party and the opposition. In India, the formation of political parties has taken place on the basis of ideology. Moreover, the Indian political parties belong to the left and the right political spectrum.

Leftist politics rely on the values of secularism , liberalism, and rebelliousness. In contrast, rightist politics favour the values of being pro-government, orderly, conservative, and traditional.

There are no definitions of left-right politics anywhere in the Indian constitution. Furthermore, these terms were given by commentators, authors, and journalists. Also, it has been witnessed in India that some politicians can change their political party and ideology.

Indeed for a stable democracy , it is necessary that both political ideologies, the right and left, operate side by side. As such, some times, the country may be under rightist influence while leftist ideals may dominate at another time. The two major political parties in India, BJP and Congress, clearly demonstrate the two different political spectrums of right and left respectively.

Problem with Indian Politics

For a democracy to work properly there must be a proper demarcation between the political ideologies. However, in India, the demarcation between these ideologies tends to get blurry, thereby resulting in the superimposition of one ideology over the other. This is certainly not an indication of a mature democracy.

The political system of India suffers due to the clash of different political ideologies. Furthermore, such clashes can turn out to be quite ugly. Most noteworthy, such clashes are detrimental to the development of the country as a whole.

Various other problems affect Indian politics like hatred, injustice, corruption, greed, and bigotry. Due to all these problems, Indian politics is called a dirty game. Such problems can also force many intellectual and eminent individuals to stay away from Indian politics.

Sometimes the Indian politicians may choose a political party, not because of the ideological stance, but rather due to the winning probability in the elections. This is a really sad reality of Indian politics. Moreover, it shows that such politicians care more about their own personal interests rather than the interests of the common people.
