The Annual Prize Giving Ceremony of Our School - An Essay

Introduction:

The prize-giving ceremony is the most attractive annual ceremony at our school. It is generally held on any one of the days of the third week of the month of December. All the students eagerly look forward to it.

Preparation For The Annual Prize-Giving Ceremony:

Last year, this ceremony was held on the 19th of December. A large number of students were busy for nearly a month in making various kinds of preparation for the celebration of this day. Different students with aptitudes for different extra-curricular activities such as singing, dancing, recitation, and acting had been rehearsing the parts they would play on the day of the ceremony. In this, they all were guided by the different teachers, adept in such arts. The rehearsals used to take place after school hours. I too was rehearsing an important role in an interesting and exciting scene, selected for a historical play. Those of us who took part in different performance derived inspiration from other students who used to witness us during the rehearsals. Meanwhile, the athletic competitions were being conducted at the school playground. For literary competitions, students were still submitting essays, poems, and short stories.

At long last, the day of our expectation came. Our enthusiasm knew no bounds. Though the ceremony was due to start at 12 noon we arrived at the school a little before 9 a.m. Some of us erected a beautiful welcome arch within two hours. Some cleaned the campus and some others decorated the entire school building both outside and inside.

The arrival of the President:

At 11. 58 a. m. the president arrived. He was received and welcomed at the gate by our headmaster and the general, Secretary of our Students’ Union. The president is an eminent poet of our state. When he entered the school hall, we all stood up and greeted him with folded hands. He also received our greetings with folded hands and a smile. We all resumed our seats as soon as the president, our headmaster, and all the invited guests took theirs.

The Performance:

Soon after, the meeting began with a welcome choral song, sung by the selected singers of the school. Then the headmaster requested the president to conduct the meeting. We all gave claps and the president accepted the proposal with a smile. He then announced the items of the agenda one by one. The artistic performances took place in quick succession. The judges for the different performances sat near the stage.

Distribution of Prizes:

After the performances, the headmaster requested the president to give away the prizes. He then read out the names of the prize winners, who smartly came up and received the prizes one by one from the president. At first students from different classes who excelled in their studies were given their prizes. Some received prizes for standing first, second, etc. in their respective classes and some for securing more than 80% marks in different subjects. Two students, one of class V and the other of Class IX also received prizes for unfailing daily attendance in classes. After this, the prize winners of literary, cultural, musical, and athletic events were called upon to receive their prizes. My heart fluttered with joy when I went forward amid loud claps to receive the first prize in acting. The president patted me on the back and encouraged me to do still better in the future.

Speeches In Our Annual Prize-Giving Ceremony:

After the prize-giving, a few gentlemen and ladies gave brief speeches giving us much good advice and encouragement. It was now the president’s turn. He also gave a brief but very interesting speech, mixed with a lot of humor. He congratulated those who won prizes. He also hoped that those who did not participate would do so in the future and everyone would try to better his or her record. Then he thanked us all for inviting him to spend some time amidst us. After this, the headmaster thanked all for making the ceremony success. The meeting comes to an end with the singing of the national anthem.

Conclusion:

Those of us who had actively and enthusiastically participated in the function were feeling sad for about a week after it. But, gradually, that mood was over and now we are again looking forward to the next prize-giving ceremony of our school.

THE PRIZE GIVING DAY AT OUR SCHOOL

The prize giving ceremony of a school is always a thrilling event to the students. It was the month of February. The names of the recipients of prizes and medals on the result of the last examination had been announced.

A day was fixed <or distributing prizes to the prize winners. The D.C of our district himself had consented to preside over the function. So, we set about decorating the premises of the school. The flowers and festoons, artistically laid out, give gala appearance to the whole scene.

By 3 p.m. the invited guests began to come in. The volunteers -with their distinctive badges were all attention to the guests. They guided the distinguished citizens of the locality to the seats especially reserved for them. Punctually at 4 p.m. the President came in. The students provided him with the guard of honour. A loud burst of cheering welcomed him as he took his seat.

The proceedings began with the singing of our national song with all of us standing. The President then read out his report. At one stage he made, a moving appeal to the government and the public not to treat education as a subject of lesser importance than any other subject for depending the fate of the future generation and the welfare of the country as a whole.

Then the main function began. The Headmaster called each recipient by name, announced the subject in which the award was made and the place of honour, he occupied. The winners of the topmost awards were vigorously cheered by all, while there friends shouted words of good humoured encouragement. The sportsmen, I could see, were by far the most popular. When the colours were awarded, the cheering was loud enough to be heard for miles.

Finally, the President rose to speak. He congratulated the institution, the teachers, the students, and in fact, everybody on the good work done in the past year, and observed that all this could be dene because there was co-operation all around.

With the customary vote of thanks proposed by the senior most teacher and seconded by the most brilliant student, the function drew to a close. The national anthem was then sung by all standing, and the President was taken to his car.

The cheering were tumultuous; and slowly as the evening faded into darkness, the gathering broke up and dispersed. It was quite an enjoyable evening.

  • When was the prize-giving day celebrated?
  • How is the campus of your school decorated?
  • Who was the chief guest?
  • What did the chief guest do on this day?
  • What did the headmistress and the teachers do?
  • How did the students enjoy this day?
  • How was it concluded?

Answer: A prize-giving day is an annual event in a school. It is a special day particularly for the students who excel in academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities. We had our prize-giving day on 5 December last year. The entire stage was colorfully decorated. Our headmistress and her colleagues received the chief guest at the gate. Then he was guided to the auditorium. At 10:00 am the program started with the recitation from the Holy Quran ‍. The headmistress delivered her welcome speech. Then the chief guest along with the headmistress took their positions on the dais. One of our respected teachers called over the names of the recipients. They went up to the chief guest one by one and took prizes. He congratulated them as he shook hands. After about an hour, the ceremony was over. The chief guest thanked all and advised the students to devote themselves to study and nation-building works. The headmistress gave her concluding speech thanking all. Finally, the day’s program ended with a musical soiree. I personally enjoyed the day, very much and still remember every bit of it.

Answer: At last the long-awaited prize day of our school came and it was held on the 15th August last. It was really a memorable day of my life . We decorated our school with colored paper and flowers. The Chief of the program was the Deputy Commissioner of our district. When the Chief Guest came the program began. Our Headmaster delivered a short speech and the program came to an end.

Prize-Giving Day in Our School

The prize-giving function of our school was held on the fifteenth January. The Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, as the chief guest, was invited to charm the occasion. The preparations for the function started a month earlier. The school hall, where the function was to be held, was beautifully decorated with pictures, colorful flowers, banners, and charts. The auditorium and its dais were also brightly decorated and prizes were neatly displayed on a separate table on the dais. All the students were present at the function. Among others, the guardians and some eminent persons of the locality attended the function. The visitors were very much impressed by the arrangements that the students had made. At 4 pm the function had started. In the nick of time, the Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University came in his car. He was accorded a warm welcome. Our Headmaster first read out the annual report. Then the Chief Guest gave a short speech. He highly praised the overall performance of the school and its excellent JSC and SSC Exam results. Then he gave away the prizes among the students for their outstanding activities. I got two prizes—one for regular attendance and the other for good results in the last year-ending exams. After completing the ceremony we had staged a drama.

While the other students will still receive an appreciating certificate, the gifts will serve as a motive for doing better next year and earning those presents and trophies.

This is the time to give a special mention to our teachers who teach our students throughout the year, and that’s not all they do, they shape the future of our country, and they make our student’s honorable citizens of the society. Of course, doing that, sometimes they have to be strict, which you guys do not like but trust me when I say they mean well to you. Besides your parents, they are the only ones who root for a successful future and fantastic life ahead.

To all the winners of the prizes and trophies, congratulations on the ABC school’s behalf, and now to those who did not get it work harder next year, make your parents and your teachers proud, and most importantly, make your parent’s country proud. Prize distribution day in my school.

Total Essay – 5

Essay No. 01

It was a memorable day for me. Our school asked us to dress in fine clothes and come for the Annual Day of our school. It was to be held in two days’ time. I was overjoyed to attend the function, as I had to receive quite a few prizes.

My parents bought me a new dress for the special day. I took my parents with me because all the parents were invited to attend the function. The function was supposed to start at 5 p.m. We were asked to be present for the function at least half an hour before the start. However, the Annual Day was arranged in our school’s assembly hall. My parents and I reached before time and took our scats.

The hall was decorated and it looked beautiful. A big table was placed on the stage. A decorative flower vase at the centre of the table added more beauty to the table. Mrs Roxana, who was the Principle of a nearby school, was invited as the chief guest to grace the occasion. Our Principal, Mr Vasudev, accompanied her to the stage. We all stood up and gave a big round of applause to welcome them.

The Superintendent of our school Mrs Gaikwad started her welcome speech. She briefly outlined the progress of the school and the academic achievements of the students. She mentioned that each year some or the other student came first in any of the subjects from the entire State. Later, the chief guest Mrs Roxana in her speech praised the students for their outstanding achievements. She even pointed out that the efforts of the teachers cannot be left upraised.

One of our senior teachers Mr Sukhdev read out the names of the winners who had to receive the prizes for their different accomplishments. After a few names, my name was announced. First, I got a prize for being the most disciplined boy in the school. I was awarded a set of classical Hindi story books and a set of English essay books. My name was called four times, as I had stood first in four of my favourite subjects – English, Science, History and Hindi. I felt proud and enthusiastic while receiving each prize. Nearly 120 students were presented with different prizes. My parents were very happy to see me receiving so many prizes.

This day turned out to be a memorable Annual Day of my school life. Many of my friends and teachers congratulated me. Soon after I received the prizes, I realized how my father daily sat with me and coached me. It was his efforts at home that cleared many of my doubts and helped me to understand different things in different subjects. I realised that hard work always pays

This year the Prize Distribution Function was held on 25th November on the school ground. The crowd consisted of students, parents, staff and the invitees. The Education Minister was invited as the chief guest. The preparation for the event had started a month before the actual date. The whole building of the school was white-washed and the ground, where the function was to be held was thoroughly cleaned and decorated with plants and rose petals.

On the day of the function, the carpets were rolled on the ground for accommodating a large number of children and chairs were placed in rows for the staff members, parents and the invitees. A nicely decorated chair and table with a flower basket were placed on the stage for the Chief Guest and the Principal and the Vice Principal. The whole school building was faultlessly clean.

The Education Minister arrived at 11:30 a.m. and was given a warm welcome by the Principal, Members of the Senior Staff and the School Band played in his honour. He was then garlanded by the Head Boy.

As soon as the Chief Guest took his seat, a group of students sang welcome chores for him. Then it was the turn of the Principal to read out the School Annual Achievement Report

The Chief Guest then gave away the prizes to the winners. I was also one of the winners as I had won the Best Student of the Year Award. Lots of performances were also given by the students.

Annual Prize Giving Ceremony Speech

Mr Kay, Mr. Chairman, Board of Directors, Board of Management, distinguished guests, colleagues, parents, ladies and gentle men welcome to our annual prize giving ceremony.

It is with great pleasure to announce that the overall school performance has been improving every year. I would also like to send a congratulatory message to all those who have performed exemplary well thus making it necessary to have such a great occasion. The purpose of this day is to recognize the efforts of these young ones either in class or in other co-curriculum activities. I would also take this opportunity to encourage those who will not receive prizes and remind them that there is still next time. Those who will get the prizes should also work hard since there is always a room for improvement.

I am pleased to report that last year’s national exams results were exemplary good and i think every one of us demand a clap. It is important to note that in a class of 120 students, our school will have 110 students joining institution of higher learning. This is a good improvement since the number of students joining such institutions is increasing every year. Our school also performed relatively well in other co-curriculum activities such as soccer, drama and music.

I cannot forget the tireless efforts our teachers are putting towards this noble course. We can all acknowledge that without their efforts, we could not been celebrating excellence and efficiency we are celebrating today. Our teachers receive congratulations from deep down my heart.

I would also take this chance to thank our parents who have played a great role towards the success of our school. It is important to recognize the efforts made by our parents to ensure that we have such good results. Let me also pause a challenge to you parent, if your child does not get an award today, please have a chart with him and see how to improve their performance. I am sure with better co-ordination with parents and teachers a time like this next year we will celebrate even better results.

Before I forget, I would also like to thank the non-teaching staff for their relentless efforts towards improving our performance. The bursar, school matron, drivers, cooks and administrative staff have been crucial to the success we are celebrating today.

To you students education is the key to success. This is why we are all gathered here today to encourage seeking academic excellence. It is therefore an obligation of each one of you to strive and get the best. Learn to utilize your teachers fully because i know they are ready and willing to help you get the best. Use the library and the computer laboratory for research. We will also make arrangements with the board of governors and the government to ensure that the few issues which have not been addressed are addressed for better results.

Before I hand over to master of ceremony to lead us through the various awards and prizes which will be distributed, I wish all the students with their families a pleasant holiday, and remember our holiday motto…. Stay Safe. Thank you very much

Essay writing on the prize day in your school

I am going to write here an English Essay writing on the prize day in your school. Here it is.

Introduction

When and where the prize day occurs.

  • Guests during the prize day

How we celebrated the prize day

Role of the president on prize day, prize distribution on prize day, successful end of the prize day programme (conclusion).

Essay writing on the prize day in your school

It is a custom of a school to organize a prize giving ceremony on a particular day which is considered to be the prize day of school. In this programme the school pays reverence to the talented students through prizes. Beside the students and teachers, many guests general public and the guardians attend the programme.

our school organized the last prize day on 12 th March in our school campus. The students decorated a large stage  tastefully in front of our main palatial school building to host the whole programme. The president’s chair along with the Headmaster’s were in the middle of the stage.

Many eminent persons like the BDO, the chairman of the municipality were on the stage.  The Headmaster  and some members of the staff received them. They were really excited at the heartiest welcome from our part.  The pandal had already been filled with the elites of the town.

Then The formal ceremony began with a song specially composed for the occasion by a teacher. Then the Headmaster read his report, which showed all round improvement in the affairs of the school. He focused on the positive mindset of the teachers and pupils in the service to our school. This was followed by an interesting programme of recitations and physical feats by the boys of the institution. These kept the audience spell-bound by their excellence.

The President of our institution then gave away the prizes which included several gold and silver medals. Next came his speech in which he earnestly pleaded for parental cooperation as much more important than any reform in the administrative machinery. Turning to the boys, he laid particular stress upon the necessity of obedience and discipline for the building up of character, and urged them to be firm in purpose, catholic in outlook and charitable in views. In this connection he pointed out their duties as the future citizens of their motherland.

All the students who stood first second and third in the final evaluation were rewarded. The events of sports in the annual sports competitions were also in the schedule of the  programme. Those prizes were not a momentary rewards for the talented students. Actually those rewards were the inspirations which would work to force them hard in getting success in future. The prize day always aims at such a noble cause.

Finally  function then came to a close with a vote of thanks to the chair and the persons assembled proposed by the Headmaster. It was really a fascinating performance of the students and teachers resulted from the heartiest collaboration.
