Set 1: Essay On My Last Day at School

It was our last day at school. We decided to have a small get-together of teachers and students. We could hardly believe that our school life was over. We, the students of the S. S. C. class, assembled in the school hall. We invited our teachers and Principal to be present on the occasion.

Some of the students of our class made short speeches. We thanked our teachers and Principal for all that they had done for us. We were feeling very sad to leave school. We had spent many happy years of our lives at school. The Principal and teachers also made speeches. They advised us to be honest and industrious in life and to keep up the good name of our school. They wished us success in life.

After this, we had a little music and entertainment. Some of us sang songs or played a musical instrument. We also played some indoor games. The entertainment was followed by light refreshment. All the students took autographs of their friends, teachers and principal in their autograph books. The party then broke up and we went home.

I shall always have happy memories of my school days during which I was very happy and carefree.

Set 2: Essay On My Last Day at School

7th February was my last day at school. I was full of mingled feelings of joy and sorrow. I was happy at the idea of freedom and holidays for one whole month. I was sad at the thought of parting from my teachers and friends.

We were asked to come to school at 2 p.m. on that day. All the students of the 10th class were well-dressed. Everybody appeared in his best. First of all we were photographed. Then we had a sumptuous feast. It was given by the students of the IX class. All the teachers also were invited to the feast. We enjoyed it most heartily.

The feast was followed by songs and speeches. The boys made a solemn promise to work hard and keep up the glorious tradition of the school. They assured the teachers that they would never forget their touching love and kindness. They said that they would always love their school. They would be prepared to make every sacrifice for the school. They would never do anything unworthy of a gentleman. They would never tarnish the fair name of the school. The parting songs were very touching. Then a boy of 10th class read out an address to the Headmaster.

The Headmaster rose amidst the cheers and gave a suitable reply to the address. All listened to him with rapt attention. There was pin drop silence. He exhorted the boys to act, move and behave in such a manner that they could all proudly say “Here are our jewels, here are our gems.” He blessed us saying that success attend our footsteps wherever we go. “Go out to serve your country and fellowmen,” he said.

Then the head of the Sanskrit department of the school offered a prayer for our success in the examinations. It was followed by the actual parting. The teachers stood in a line. We bowed low to all our teachers, got their blessings and then parted with heavy hearts.

My Last Day at School

Essay No. 01

The last day at school comes at the conclusion of the academic year of the 12th class. Before the start of examinations students of this class are given a farewell party by the next lower class. Since such functions are an annual affair, some solemnity is attached to them, and students, as well as teachers, take part in it.

My last day at school marked by more or less the same feelings. It fell on the 28th of Feb., 2002. The school hall was decorated. A platform was raised and chairs arranged in many rows. Teachers sat in the front row and since I had been the monitor of my class I was also given a place in the first row. Soon the hall was full.

The occasion was highly emotional. All the outgoing students looked very serious. Everyone seemed to be missing the school days on the one hand and looking forward into the unknown land of the future, all uncertain and vague. No doubt the new life, that is, college life seemed more glamourous ahead of us but taking the responsibilities of new life seemed more difficult.

The Principal presided over the function. Since the examinations were at hand so we could hardly lose any time in making long speeches and unnecessary formalities. The Principal spoke for ten minutes. He recalled the years-long association of the outgoing class with the rest of the school and exhorted other classes to follow the example of our class in the best traditions of the school.

There was a tea party. The students of the 11th class were host to it. I was told to speak a few words to them, which I did. But soon my heart began to throb at the idea of parting. I recalled how we had played, read, and sat together. How we were displeased at one moment and were the same friends at the next. Speaking at such functions was a maiden experience in my life yet I made a fine job of it though I was later told that my voice trembled as I spoke.

The hosts gave us a farewell speech. The monitor of their class, Sanchit Sharma, spoke highly of us. He recalled the guidance which we had been giving them from time to time. He said that though we were parting from the school this year yet they would join us next year in this great school of life—the world.

Party oven a group photograph was arranged. We were free now. I deposited my borrowed books with the library and got a clearance certificate. The joyful attitude of my heart gave place to anxiety and seriousness. The very idea of examination at hand completely gripped my mind and I hurried to my house without loss of time to bury my head in books.

In short, we have joys, we have sorrows, we meet and then we depart. First, there was a day when I had joined the school, and now comes that day, which is my last day in school.

I remember it was chilly February, and only a month was left for our Board Examinations. Since our syllabus was over, our Principal had declared preparatory holidays.

All students were asked to clear their accounts and return their library books for the use of ensuing batches. After the recess, we were asked to gather in the assembly hall, where the Principal had delivered a short speech concerning our future and wished us success for the coming examinations.

Then I and my friends shook hands and hugged each other and we all cracked jokes. The thing I enjoyed most was when a group of friends scribbled messages on each other’s school uniforms. Then it was time to click photographs with friends and teachers for future memories.

My last day at school was thus full of feelings both of joy and sadness.

Essay No. 03

The 3rd March 1990, was my last day at school. I was both happy and sad-happy at the prospect of joining a college and sad at the thought of leaving my school where I had spent seven years of my life. I reached school at 9.15 a.m. I had with me only one book which I had borrowed library. All the 10th class students came to school without their satchels. There was no teaching on that day. I went to the library and returned the book. Then got a ‘No Dues Slip’ signed by the librarian and teachers I handed it over to the clerk and received my Roll Number slip. I could not solve some problems in Geometry so I went to the Mathematics teacher and got my difficulties solved. I also met my friends. Some of them talked of the coming examination while others talked of their future career. A farewell party was arranged for 5 p.m. The students of the 11th class played the host. The program consisted of a short variety show and a few speeches. Some students of the 11th class sang a humorous ‘qawwali’ describing their teachers and their stay in the school. Our principal gave a brief speech assuring that our memory will remain in the nooks and corners of the school forever. The principal inspired the outgoing students to work hard for success and to be noble citizens of India in the future. When the function was over, I shook hands with my friends, respectfully bade my teacher’s good-bye, and returned home.

Essay My Last Day at College or My Last Day at School

“friends depart, and memory takes them to her caverns, pure and deep” (thomas haynes).

My memories of my last day of college are still very much intact. It was an exciting and feeling-filled day. Our juniors, the first-year students, threw a goodbye party for us, the second-year students. I’ve never been able to leave on time for college. But on that particular day, I beat the record and arrived on time for the institution. The classes were suspended on that memorable day so that we could say our last goodbyes.

“How lucky it is to have something that makes it so hard to say goodbye.”

When I got to the campus, I ran across my dear friends, who were now prepared to part ways. On the one hand, I am eager to finish school and begin a new phase of my life. On the other side, as I bid farewell to my friends and instructors who have contributed to my college experience, I am experiencing grief and nostalgia.

I am overcome with nostalgia as I stroll around the college campus for the last time. After a brief conversation with friends, we took some lovely pictures of different areas of our campus. I still remember how I felt on my first day of college—both anxious and excited—and how quickly I made friends and settled in.

I also recall the extended study sessions, late-night cramming sessions, and difficulties I had while in college. But I also recall the aid and direction I received from my instructors and friends throughout the challenging periods.

“Things may end, but memories will last forever.”

I am appreciative of the information and abilities I have acquired throughout my time in college when I think back on my time there. Along with my instructors, my friends, and extracurricular activities, they have all taught me something. I’ve matured as a person and gained self-assurance and a feeling of freedom.

The feeling of connection and community I have had at college is among the things I will miss the most when I leave. As a student, my professors and classmates have always been supportive of me and have allowed me to develop close relationships with them.

I will also miss the freedom and adaptability that come with being a student, which is another aspect of college that I will regret. I’ve had the chance to investigate many topics and pursuits and to identify my hobbies and interests.

Additionally, I will miss the campus and all of its amenities, including the cafeteria, gym, and library. I have spent many hours studying, working out, and socializing at these locations over the last four years, and they have served as my second home. I am also appreciative of the friendships I have developed while attending college. I will always treasure the memories that we have created together, since these are friendships that will last a lifetime.

I’m excited and looking forward to the future as I bid goodbye to college and look to the future. I’m prepared to face the difficulties of everyday life and leave my imprint on the world. But I will always cherish and be grateful for the time I spent at college.

The music in my heart I bore ,

Long after it was heard, no more (wordsworth).

To sum up, my last day at college is a bittersweet occasion for me. I am eager to leave college and begin a new chapter in my life, but I will also miss the people, places, and experiences that have made up my college career. I am appreciative of the information, abilities, and friendships I have acquired throughout my time here, and I will always cherish my college years.

English Essay – My Last Day at School & Quotations

My last day at school.

My last day at school was a day filled with mixed emotions. I had spent several years in that school, making friends, learning new things, and growing as an individual. It was a place that held countless memories and experiences that would stay with me forever.

As the final day approached, there was a sense of nostalgia in the air. The classrooms, once filled with laughter and chatter, now seemed quiet and empty. The hallways, once bustling with students rushing to their classes, now echoed with silence. It was a bittersweet feeling, knowing that this chapter of my life was coming to an end.

On that day, we gathered in the school auditorium for a farewell ceremony. Teachers and students shared their thoughts and memories, reminiscing about the good times we had spent together. It was a time for reflection and gratitude, as we thanked our teachers for their guidance and support throughout our educational journey.

After the ceremony, we bid farewell to our teachers and classmates. Hugs were exchanged, tears were shed, and promises were made to keep in touch. It was a difficult moment, saying goodbye to the people who had become like family over the years.

Leaving the school premises for the last time, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of completion and pride. I had grown not only academically but also as a person during my time at that school. I developed valuable skills, forged lifelong friendships, and gained a deeper understanding of the world around me.

While my last day at school marked the end of a significant chapter in my life, it also symbolized the beginning of a new journey. As I stepped out into the world beyond those familiar walls, I carried with me the lessons and memories that would shape my future endeavors.

Introduction:

The last day at school is a significant milestone in every student’s life. It is a day filled with a range of emotions, as one bids farewell to a familiar environment and prepares to embark on new adventures. As I reminisce about my last day at school in Pakistan, I am reminded of the valuable lessons learned, the friendships forged, and the sense of responsibility instilled in me. This essay will explore the various aspects of my last day at school, highlighting its significance and the impact it had on my journey as a Pakistani student.

The Farewell Ceremony: Reminiscing Memories

On the day of my last day at school, a farewell ceremony was organized, bringing together teachers, students, and their families. It was a time to reflect upon the shared memories and express gratitude for the experiences that had shaped us. As I sat in the school auditorium, listening to speeches and musical performances, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of nostalgia. The atmosphere was filled with a mix of joy and sadness, as we celebrated the bonds we had formed and prepared to part ways.

Teachers as Mentors: Guidance and Wisdom

During the farewell ceremony, our teachers took the opportunity to share their wisdom and guidance for the future. Their words resonated deeply with me, as they emphasized the importance of hard work, resilience, and integrity. One of my teachers quoted Allama Iqbal, the national poet of Pakistan, saying, “ Rise above sectional interests and private ambitions… Pass from matter to spirit. The matter is diversity; the spirit is light, life, and the unity of all things .”

These words encapsulated the essence of our education, urging us to transcend personal ambitions and work for the greater good of society. Our teachers instilled in us a sense of responsibility towards our country, reminding us of the potential we possessed to contribute to its progress and development.

Bidding Farewell: Emotional Goodbyes

As the farewell ceremony came to an end, we stepped outside to bid farewell to our classmates and teachers. Emotions ran high as hugs were exchanged, tears were shed, and promises were made to stay connected. The bonds we had formed over the years were strong, and the thought of parting ways was undoubtedly overwhelming. It was a poignant moment, as we realized that our paths would diverge, and we would venture into different realms of life.

Leaving the School Premises: A Mix of Sadness and Pride

Leaving the school premises for the last time, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of sadness and pride. Sadness because I was saying goodbye to a place that had become a second home, where I had spent countless hours learning and growing. But I also felt immense pride because I had successfully completed this phase of my education. The walls of the school had witnessed my transformation, both academically and personally, and now it was time to apply the knowledge gained and make a positive impact in the world.

Conclusion: The Beginning of a New Journey

My last day at school was not just an ending but also a new beginning. It marked the start of a chapter where I would carry the lessons and values instilled in me and use them to shape my future endeavors. The sense of responsibility toward Pakistan, instilled by my teachers, served as a guiding force. I was eager to contribute to my country’s progress, knowing that education and knowledge were powerful tools for bringing about positive change.

As I stepped out into the world beyond those familiar walls, I embarked on a journey filled with new opportunities, challenges, and aspirations. The memories and friendships formed during my time at school would always hold a special place in my heart, reminding me of the foundation upon which my future endeavors were built.

In the words of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founding father of Pakistan, “ With faith, discipline, and selfless devotion to duty, there is nothing worthwhile that you cannot achieve. ” These words continue to inspire me, reminding me of the immense potential within each Pakistani student to contribute to the betterment of our nation and the world at large.

My Last Day at the College

Paragraph on My Last Day at the School

In the storehouse of my memories, the last day at the school occupies a prominent position. I can never forget the day when I left school and entered the practical life. Our school was the place where we spent four golden years of our lives, where we formed new associations. Those happy days, noisy laughters, careless wanderings still haunt my memory.

We had completed two years of Degree Class and we’re going to appear in the B.A. Examination. A day was fixed for filling the forms and paying the dues. I reached school early. All the fellows were full of high hopes about the examination. We had a lively conversation because we knew we would not see one another for a long time. My own feelings at that time were a mixture of joy and sadness. I was happy because I had completed a  part of my education. I was sad because I was leaving my friends and school.

Soon we were asked to assemble in a room. A Professor came to guide us in the filling of our Admission Form. My thoughts wandered classroom memories thronged my mind. I remembered how. often I felt bored in the class; how I disliked some of the professors; how, one day, I was asked to leave the class for creating disturbance. But now all these things belonged to the past. It was with much difficulty that I filled my form correctly. Next I stood in one of the long lines to deposit fees. We were treated like guests. Yes, we were guests in our own institution. The clerks were unusually helpful on the day, they wished us good luck. When I paid my fees, I felt as if the bond of association with the school had been cut off. My heart sank a cloud of depression overwhelmed me.[the_ad id=”17141″]

Before going home, I decided to have a last view of the school. I went to School Union Cities. My mind flew back to the last two elections. What a wave of excitement! What a life! How noisy the processions! These charms have gone forever. Next, I went to the Common Room. It was as busy and noisy as ever. The only difference was that I was a stranger now. I remembered the happy hours spent there, playing and chatting. The school canteen was full of life as usual. I walked to the library. I had a look on the countless books which I could not read. Students were depositing and receiving books. My eyes were full of tears and I remembered Tennyson’s lines:

Tear from the depth of some divine despair Rise in the heart and gather to eyes, In looking on the happy Autumn-fields And thinking of the days that are no more.

In honour of the out-going students, a farewell function was organized by third year students. All of them hid us farewell with a sad heart. My heart declared:

Farewell, my friends! farewell, my foes! My peace with these, my love with those.

My School Essay 500 Words

The place where children as the leaders of tomorrow study and where the future of the nation is shaped are called schools. Education is an essential weapon for tomorrow, so the good schools of today are important for the best future of a nation. Schools are the center of learning where we attend classes on various subjects, interact with the teachers, get our queries

answered, and appeared in exams. In my school, learning is more like a fun activity, because of the extra-talented teaching staff.

My school is a government primary school located on the outskirts of the city. Usually, when people think about a government school, they perceive it to be at an isolated location and have poor basic amenities and teaching facilities. But, despite being a government school, my school defies all such speculations. Teachers of my school are not only knowledgeable about the subjects they teach but also are skilled enough to teach through fun activities. For example, our physics teacher explains every concept by stating real-life examples that we could relate to. This way we not only understand the subject better. Moreover, not a moment I remember, when any teacher had ever replied rudely to any of the students. They always patiently listen and provide answers to all the queries posed to them. Learning at my school is fun and it is made possible only because of the teachers.

My school is very important in my life, in a way even more than my family. My family gives me love, care, and affection, and provides for all my other essential needs. But, all of this isn’t enough to make me a good human being and succeed in life.  Favorably, I am lucky enough to be enrolled in a prestigious school, and gaining a wonderful education, looking forward to realizing my dreams one day. The most necessary for success in life is education, and only my school provides it to me. Without my school and the education that it gives, I would be like a confused and wandering soul, almost aimless in life.

My school helps with my educational and overall personality development. It imparts education through classes, tests, and exams to teach me how to conduct myself confidently. It just feels so great to be in my school and be a part of everyday activities, be it lectures, sports, or Something else. While in school, I always feel happy, confident, enthusiastic, and loved. I make friends at school, those whom I will never forget and will always love them. My family supports my materialistic needs, but school is the place where my actual physical, social, and mental development takes place.  I know that every question that crosses my mind will be answered by my teachers. I also know that my school friends will always be at my side whenever I need them to be. As much as the studies, my school also stresses much on These activities as the management thinks that extracurricular activities are very essential for our overall personality development. My school provides dedicated teachers and staff for each extracurricular activity. We have a big sports ground with kits for all the major sports; a covered auditorium for dance and music and a separate basketball court.

The role my school plays in my personality development is fantastic. It not only imparts education in me but also teaches me how to conduct myself and how to behave decently and properly. I get trained in all the other necessary skills of life, like how to keep calm in challenging situations and help others as well. My school teaches me to be a good and evolved human being, to stay composed and progressive always. It also teaches me to be kind and generous to others and not differentiate them based on their caste, religion, ethnicity, or other divisions. These are some of the most essential personality traits that my school imparts to me, something that I will always be thankful for. Every time I think of my school, I think of it as a temple of education. A temple, where my soul meets education, making my life more meaningful and useful to society and the nation as well. It is a place where my aspirations get a wing and I get the strength and confidence to realize them. No other place in the entire world could replace my school and the role that it plays in my life. I will always be thankful to my friends, teachers, and the staff of my school, for making it such a comfortable and Educational place of learning.

What is Presidents Day and how is it celebrated? What to know about the federal holiday

Many will have a day off on monday in honor of presidents day. consumers may take advantage of retail sales that proliferate on the federal holiday, but here's what to know about the history of it..

essay writing my last day at school

Presidents Day is fast approaching, which may signal to many a relaxing three-day weekend and plenty of holiday sales and bargains .

But next to Independence Day, there may not exist another American holiday that is quite so patriotic.

While Presidents Day has come to be a commemoration of all the nation's 46 chief executives, both past and present, it wasn't always so broad . When it first came into existence – long before it was even federally recognized – the holiday was meant to celebrate just one man: George Washington.

How has the day grown from a simple celebration of the birthday of the first president of the United States? And why are we seeing all these ads for car and furniture sales on TV?

Here's what to know about Presidents Day and how it came to be:

When is Presidents Day 2024?

This year, Presidents Day is on Monday, Feb. 19.

The holiday is celebrated on the third Monday of every February because of a bill signed into law in 1968 by President Lyndon B. Johnson. Taking effect three years later, the Uniform Holiday Bill mandated that three holidays – Memorial Day, Presidents Day and Veterans Day – occur on Mondays to prevent midweek shutdowns and add long weekends to the federal calendar, according to Britannica .

Other holidays, including Labor Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day , were also established to be celebrated on Mondays when they were first observed.

However, Veterans Day was returned to Nov. 11 in 1978 and continues to be commemorated on that day.

What does Presidents Day commemorate?

Presidents Day was initially established in 1879 to celebrate the birthday of the nation's first president, George Washington. In fact, the holiday was simply called Washington's Birthday, which is still how the federal government refers to it, the Department of State explains .

Following the death of the venerated American Revolution leader in 1799, Feb. 22, widely believed to be Washington's date of birth , became a perennial day of remembrance, according to History.com .

The day remained an unofficial observance for much of the 1800s until Sen. Stephen Wallace Dorsey of Arkansas proposed that it become a federal holiday. In 1879, President Rutherford B. Hayes signed it into law, according to History.com.

While initially being recognized only in Washington D.C., Washington's Birthday became a nationwide holiday in 1885. The first to celebrate the life of an individual American, Washington's Birthday was at the time one of only five federally-recognized holidays – the others being Christmas, New Year's, Thanksgiving and the Fourth of July.

However, most Americans today likely don't view the federal holiday as a commemoration of just one specific president. Presidents Day has since come to represent a day to recognize and celebrate all of the United States' commanders-in-chief, according to the U.S. Department of State .

When the Uniform Holiday Bill took effect in 1971, a provision was included to combine the celebration of Washington’s birthday with Abraham Lincoln's on Feb. 12, according to History.com. Because the new annual date always fell between Washington's and Lincoln's birthdays, Americans believed the day was intended to honor both presidents.

Interestingly, advertisers may have played a part in the shift to "Presidents Day."

Many businesses jumped at the opportunity to use the three-day weekend as a means to draw customers with Presidents Day sales and bargain at stores across the country, according to History.com.

How is the holiday celebrated?

Because Presidents Day is a federal holiday , most federal workers will have the day off .

Part of the reason Johnson made the day a uniform holiday was so Americans had a long weekend "to travel farther and see more of this beautiful land of ours," he wrote. As such, places like the Washington Monument in D.C. and Mount Rushmore in South Dakota – which bears the likenesses of Presidents Washington, Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and Theodore Roosevelt – are bound to attract plenty of tourists.

Similar to Independence Day, the holiday is also viewed as a patriotic celebration . As opposed to July, February might not be the best time for backyard barbecues and fireworks, but reenactments, parades and other ceremonies are sure to take place in cities across the U.S.

Presidential places abound across the U.S.

Opinions on current and recent presidents may leave Americans divided, but we apparently love our leaders of old enough to name a lot of places after them.

In 2023, the U.S. Census Bureau pulled information from its databases showcasing presidential geographic facts about the nation's cities and states.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the census data shows that as of 2020 , the U.S. is home to plenty of cities, counties and towns bearing presidential names. Specifically:

  • 94 places are named "Washington."
  • 72 places are named "Lincoln."
  • 67 places are named for Andrew Jackson, a controversial figure who owned slaves and forced thousands of Native Americans to march along the infamous Trail of Tears.
