മനുഷ്യജീവിതത്തിൽ ഉന്നതമായ സ്ഥാനം നൽകേണ്ട ഒന്നാണ് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം. കാരണം ഒരു മനുഷ്യായുസ്സ് നേടിയെടുക്കുന്ന സകല കഴിവുകളുടെയും വികാസം സാധ്യമാകുന്നത് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിലൂടെയാണ്. അതുകൊണ്ടാണിവിടെ “വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം എന്നത് ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ അഭിവൃദ്ധിക്കു വേണ്ടിയുള്ള തയ്യാറെടുപ്പാണ് എന്ന് നിർവചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. വിവിധ സ്വഭാവമേന്മ യോടുകൂടി ജനിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യൻ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിലുടെ പലതും സ്വീകരിക്കുകയും ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു അങ്ങനെ മനുഷ്യനെ യഥാർത്ഥ  മനുഷ്യനാക്കുകയാണ് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം എന്ന പ്രക്രിയയിലൂടെയാണ്.

സംസാരിച്ചു തുടങ്ങുന്ന പിഞ്ചുകുഞ്ഞിന്റെ നാവിൽ ആദ്യം തത്തി കളിക്കുന്നത് മാതൃഭാഷയാണ്. മാതൃഭാഷ കുട്ടിക്ക് ലഭിക്കുന്ന സഹജഭാഷയാണ്. അമ്മയും മാതൃഭാഷയും കുഞ്ഞിന്റെ രണ്ട് അമ്മമാരായി നിലകൊള്ളുന്നു. –

“മറ്റുള്ള ഭാഷകൾ കേവലം ധാത്രിമാർ – മർത്യനു പെറ്റമ്മ തൻ ഭാഷ താൻ എന്നാ മഹാ കവി വള്ളത്തോളിന്റെ വരികൾ മാതൃഭാഷയുടെ പ്രാധാന്യത്തെയാണ് വിളിച്ചറിയിക്കുന്നത്. മനുഷ്യ ജീവിതത്തിൽ ഏറ്റവും പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള ഘടകങ്ങളിൽ ചിലതാണ് മാതാവ്, മാതൃഭൂമി, മാതൃഭാഷ എന്നിവ. അന്തർദേശീയ ഭാഷയായ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് ലോകഭാഷ എന്ന നിലയിൽ അതുല്യ സ്ഥാനം വഹിക്കുന്നു. – ഭാഷാടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങൾ പുനർവിഭജനം ചെയ്തത് മാതൃഭാഷയെ പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുവാനാണ്. വിദേശ ഭാഷയിലൂടെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം ചെയ്യുന്നത് വിദ്യാർഥികൾക്ക് തുലോം വിഷമമാണ്. വിദേശ ഭാഷ പഠിക്കാൻ തന്നെ നാം കൂടുതൽ സമയം ചെലവഴിക്ക ണം. ഭാരതീയർക്ക് ദേശീയബോധം കുറയുവാനുള്ള പ്രധാനകാരണം വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിൽ ഇംഗ്ലീഷിന് അമിത പ്രാധാന്യം കൊടുത്തത് കൊണ്ടാണെന്ന് ഒരു ചിന്താഗതിയുണ്ട്.

പരീക്ഷ വിജയവും ഉദ്യോഗലബ്ധിയും മാത്രമല്ല വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിന് പ്രധാന ഉദ്ദേശങ്ങൾ. നാം മാതൃഭാഷാഭിമാനികളും, സ്വരാജ്യ സ്നേഹികളും ആയിത്തീരുന്നതിന് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിൽ  പ്രമുഖസ്ഥാനം മാതൃഭാഷയ്ക്ക് നൽകണം. – ഇന്ന് നാം സ്വതന്ത്രരാണ്. നമ്മുടെ പുരാതന സംസ്കാരത്തെയും ആദർശത്തെയും സംരക്ഷിക്കുവാൻ മാതൃഭാഷ വിജ്ഞാനം അത്യന്താപേക്ഷിതമാണ്. മാതൃഭാഷയായ മലയാളത്തിന് മറ്റു ഭാഷകളോട് ഒപ്പം നിൽക്കാൻ ഉള്ള എല്ലാ ഗുണവിശേഷങ്ങളും ഉണ്ട്.

ആശയ പ്രകടനത്തിനും ശാസ്ത്രീയ കാര്യങ്ങളെ പ്രതിപാദിക്കാനു മുള്ള എല്ലാ ഗുണവിശേഷങ്ങളുമുള്ള നാം എത്ര ഭാഷകൾ കൈവശ മാക്കിയാലും മാതൃഭാഷയിലൂടെ മാത്രമേ സ്വന്തം ഹൃദയവികാരങ്ങൾ ശക്തമായും വ്യക്തമായും മറ്റുള്ളവരെ ധരിപ്പിക്കാൻ കഴിയൂ. വിശ്വസാഹിത്യങ്ങളും ശാസ്ത്രീയ കാര്യങ്ങളും നമ്മിൽ വേരുറക്കുന്നത് മാതൃഭാഷയിലൂടെയാണ്. അതുകൊണ്ടാണ് “ഏതൊരു വേദവുമേതൊരു ശാസ്ത്രവുമേതൊരു കാവ്യവുമേതൊരാൾക്കും ഹൃത്തിൽ പതിയേണമെങ്കിൽ സ്വഭാഷതൻ വക്തത്തിൽ നിന്നു താൻ കേൾക്ക വേണം” എന്ന് മഹാകവി വള്ളത്തോൾ പാടിയത്.

വീടും നാടും അന്യമായി കാണുന്ന ഇളം തലമുറയുടെ മാതൃഭാഷാ വൈമുഖ്യം നാം ശ്രദ്ധിക്കാതിരുന്നിട്ട് കാര്യമില്ല. ” ജനിക്കും മുമ്പൻ മകനിംഗ്ലീഷ് പഠിക്കണമതിനാൽ ഭാര്യതൻ പേറങ്ങിഴുണ്ടിൽ തന്നെയാക്കിനേൻ എന്ന കുഞ്ഞുണ്ണി മാഷിന്റെ പരിഹാസം കേരളീയരുടെ പൊങ്ങച്ച ത്തെയും മിഥ്യബോധത്തെയുമാണ് സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. തന്നോടു തന്നെയുള്ള ഈ യുദ്ധം മലയാളികളുടെ ശാപമാണ്. മാതൃ ഭാഷാവ ബോധം ജനകീയതയുടെ സിരാ രക്തം ആണെന്ന കാര്യം ഇനിയും മറന്നാൽ നമ്മുടെ ഭാവി പുകയാൽ മൂടിപ്പോകും എന്നതിൽ സംശയം വേണ്ട. ഈ അവസരത്തിൽ “എന്നുടെ ഭാഷ താനെൻ തറവാട്ടമ്മ അന്യയാം ഭാഷ വിരുന്നുകാരി” എന്ന കവി വാക്യം മറക്കാതിരിക്കുക.

21 february 2022, 09:15 am ist, മാതൃഭാഷയ്ക്കു വേണ്ടി യുണസ്‌ക്കോ ലോക മാതൃദിനമായി ഫെബ്രുവരി 21 നെ അങ്ങടുത്തത് ചുമ്മാതല്ല. പ്രാണന്‍ വെടിയാന്‍ പോലും മക്കള്‍ തയ്യാറാവും അമ്മയ്ക്കായി എന്നറിയാമായിട്ടാണ്.നമ്മള്‍ അമ്മയെക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി നടക്കിരുത്തുന്ന മലയാളികളുടെ കണ്ണുതുറക്കാര്‍ വേണ്ടി കൂടിയാണ് ഈ ദിനം..

പ്രതീകാത്മക ചിത്രം

നോ ക്കണേ മാതൃഭാഷയെ ബോദ്ധ്യപ്പെടുത്താന്‍ ജീവന്‍ വെടിയണം. കളി കാര്യമാകണം. ചെവിയില്‍ പതിയെ പറഞ്ഞാല്‍പ്പോരാ ചെവിക്കല്ല് അടിച്ചു പൊട്ടിക്കണം. അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ ബംഗ്ലാദേശില്‍ പാക്കിസ്താൻ ഉറുദു അടിച്ചേല്‍പ്പിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ ധാക്കാ യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റിയിലെ പിള്ളേര്‍ അതിനെ തടുത്തതും ചെവിക്കല്ലടിച്ചു പൊട്ടിച്ചതു കൊണ്ടുമല്ലേ നാല് വിദ്യാര്‍ഥികളെ ഭരണകൂടം വെടിവച്ചിട്ടത്. ലോകത്തെമ്പാടും മാതൃഭാഷയുടെ കണ്ണ് തുറപ്പിച്ച സംഭവമായിരുന്നു 1956ലേത്. ഏതാണ്ട് അക്കാലത്താണ് പോറ്റി വേല്‍ ആന്ധ്രയില്‍ ഭാഷാടിസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍ സംസ്ഥാനം രൂപീകരീകരണത്തിനു വേണ്ടി സത്യഗ്രഹമിരുന്നതും രണ്ടു മാസം കഴിഞ്ഞ് പട്ടിണി കിടന്ന് കാഞ്ഞു പോയതും.

മാതൃഭാഷയ്ക്കു വേണ്ടി യുണസ്‌ക്കോ ലോക മാതൃദിനമായി ഫെബ്രുവരി 21 നെ അങ്ങടുത്തത് ചുമ്മാതല്ല. പ്രാണന്‍ വെടിയാന്‍ പോലും മക്കള്‍ തയ്യാറാവും അമ്മയ്ക്കായി എന്നറിയാമായിട്ടാണ്.നമ്മള്‍ അമ്മയെക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി നടക്കിരുത്തുന്ന മലയാളികളുടെ കണ്ണു തുറക്കാൻ വേണ്ടി കൂടിയാണ് ഈ ദിനം.

സ്ഥാനത്തെളിയോന്‍ കോണത്തിരിക്കണം. ഇതൊരു ചൊല്ലായത് മലയാള ഭാഷയുടെ ഇന്നത്തെ അവസ്ഥ മുന്‍കൂട്ടി കണ്ടിട്ടാവണം. താഴ്ന്ന നിലയില്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞു കൂടുന്നവന്‍ വലിയവര്‍ ചെല്ലുന്ന സ്ഥലങ്ങളില്‍ ചെല്ലാതെ വീട്ടിന്റെ കോണില്‍ അടങ്ങിയൊതുങ്ങി ഇരുന്നു കൊള്ളണം. അവന്‍ വലിയവര്‍ കൂടുന്ന സ്ഥലങ്ങളില്‍ ചെന്നാല്‍ അവനെ ആരും ഗണിക്കുകയില്ല. അവന് ഇച്ഛാഭംഗവും അപമാനവും അനുഭവിക്കേണ്ടിവരും. ഇതേ അവസ്ഥയല്ലേ ഇന്ന് മലയാളത്തിന്.

കോണത്തിരിക്കുകയാണ് ഭാഷ. അന്നും ഇതു തന്നെ. എ.ആര്‍. രാജരാജവര്‍മ്മയെ ഭാഷാ സൂപ്രണ്ടാക്കി യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റി കോളേജിന്റെ കോലായിലെ മൂലയില്‍ ഒരു മേശയും കൊടുത്ത് കസേരയിലിരുത്തിയവര്‍ തന്നെയാണ് ഇന്ന് പള്ളിക്കൂടത്തില്‍ മലയാളം പഠിക്കാത്തവരെക്കൊണ്ട് മലയാളം ക്ലാസ്സെടുപ്പിക്കാന്‍ ഉത്തരവിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്.

മലയാളം പഠിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ മലയാളത്തിലെന്ത് പരിജ്ഞാനം വേണമെന്നാണ് ലവന്മാരുടെ ചോദ്യം. കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് കഥപറഞ്ഞ് കൊടുത്ത് ചിരിപ്പിക്കുന്നവരല്ലേ മലയാളം വാദ്ധ്യാന്മാരെന്ന യേമാന്മാരുടെ പരിഹാസബുദ്ധിയാണ് അതിന് പിന്നില്‍.

ശരിയാണ്! താഴ്ത്തിക്കൊയ്യുന്നവന് ഏറെ ചുമക്കേണ്ടിവരും. അതാണിപ്പോള്‍ കാണുന്നത്. മലയാളത്തിന് വേണ്ടി മുറവിളി കൂട്ടുന്തോറും അതിനിട്ടു പണി കൊടുക്കുന്ന ഐ.എ.എസ്സുകാരുടെ വിളയാട്ടമല്ലേ ഈ ഉത്തരവുകള്‍.

പട്ടി കുരച്ചാലൊന്നും പടി തുറക്കുന്ന സെക്രട്ടേറിയറ്റല്ല ഇന്നത്തേത്. നീണ്ടവലിയ വടിയുമായി നില്‍പ്പുണ്ട് ചുവപ്പ് പുതച്ച അമിത് ഷായുടെ പോലീസ് ! ഭരിക്കുന്നത് പുരോഗമനക്കാരാണെങ്കിലും പോലീസ് മറ്റേതല്ലേ! പട്ടിണിക്ക് ചീട്ടു വാങ്ങി സെക്രട്ടേറിയറ്റ് നടയില്‍ കുരയ്ക്കാമെന്നല്ലാതെ വാതില്‍ തുറക്കില്ല. ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ സര്‍ക്കാരിന്റെ നയം തന്നെ അതല്ലേ? പടുമുളയ്ക്ക് വളം വേണ്ടന്ന് തിരിച്ചറിയുക. പട്ടിയെ വിറ്റു കിട്ടിയ കാശുകൊണ്ട് കുരപ്പിക്കാനവര്‍ക്കറിയാം. പട്ടിയെന്തിന് പിന്നെ? ഇതല്ലേ ഇപ്പോള്‍ നടക്കുന്ന സ്‌കൂളിലെ മലയാള പഠനവും. ഡമ്മി വച്ചുള്ള കളിയാണെല്ലാം!

ഇന്നത്തെ സ്‌കൂളുകളിലെ മലയാള പഠനത്തിന്റെ കാര്യമാണ് പറഞ്ഞു വരുന്നത്. കേരളത്തിലെ എല്‍പി /യു പി സ്‌കൂളുകളില്‍, പത്താംതരം വരെ ഒരു ക്ലാസ്സിലും മലയാളം പഠിക്കാത്ത ആളുകള്‍ മലയാളം പഠിപ്പിക്കാനും മലയാളത്തിലൂടെ പഠിപ്പിക്കാനും നിയോഗിക്കപ്പെടുകയാണ്. പഠിക്കുന്നതിനു മുമ്പേ അവരെയൊക്കെപ്പിടിച്ച് ഗുരുക്കളാക്കുകയാണ് സര്‍ക്കാര്‍! കണിയാനെപ്പിടിച്ച് തെങ്ങില്‍ കയറ്റുന്ന വിദ്യ. അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ മലയാളം നേരെ ചൊവ്വേ പഠിക്കാത്തവരെക്കൊണ്ട് സ്‌കൂളില്‍ മലയാളം പഠിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ 2017 ല്‍ ഉത്തരവ് പുറപ്പെട്ടുവിക്കുമോ. മലയാളം പഠിക്കാത്തവരെക്കൊണ്ട് മലയാളം ക്ലാസ് എടുപ്പിക്കാമെന്നാണ് ഉത്തരവ്. നേരെ ചൊവ്വേ മലയാളത്തില്‍ വിഷയങ്ങള്‍ പറഞ്ഞു കൊടുക്കുവാനറിയാത്ത അദ്ധ്യാപകരെയാണ് വ്യാകരണം ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ പഠിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ നിര്‍ബന്ധിക്കുന്നത്. ഇതാരോടുള്ള കലി തീര്‍ക്കാന്‍. മുഖ്യന്‍ ഒന്നു പറയുന്നു, മലയാളത്തിന് തടയിട്ടു കൊണ്ട് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥ ദുഷ്പ്രഭുത്വം മറ്റൊന്നു ചെയ്യുന്നു. ചുരുക്കത്തില്‍ ഭരണത്തെ പരിഹസിക്കുന്നു.

1959 മുതല്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന KER (കേരളവിദ്യാഭ്യാസചട്ടം) വ്യവസ്ഥ നിലനിര്‍ത്തുകയാണ് വേണ്ടത്. അതായത് ടിടിസി കാലം മുതല്‍ ഉള്ള പ്രവേശന മാനദണ്ഡങ്ങള്‍ നിലനിര്‍ത്തുക. പിള്ളയെ കുളിപ്പിച്ചു കുളിപ്പിച്ച് ഇല്ലാതാക്കുന്ന നയ കോവിദന്മാരാണ് സെക്രട്ടേറിയറ്റ് വാഴുന്നത്. ശരിയായ അര്‍ത്ഥത്തില്‍ പൊതുവിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിന്റെ അടിക്കല്ലിളക്കുകയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാഥമികതലപഠനത്തിന്റെ അടിവേരറുക്കുകയും മലയാളത്തിന്റെ കൂമ്പൊടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന രണ്ട് ഉത്തരവുകളാണ് 2017, 18 കാലഘട്ടത്തില്‍ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയിട്ടുള്ളവ.

ഉത്തരവുകളും നിയമനങ്ങളുമൊക്കെ രായ്ക്കുരാമാനം തകൃതിയായി അങ്ങ് നടക്കുകയല്ലേ.! അരിയെത്ര എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു ചെല്ലുന്നവരെ പയറഞ്ഞാഴി എന്ന് ഉത്തരം കൊടുത്ത് നിയമസഭയില്‍ ഇളിച്ചു കാണിച്ചിരുത്തുന്ന ഒരു മുഖ്യനെയല്ലേ കുറെക്കാലമായി ടി.വി.യില്‍ കാണുന്നത്. അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ മാതൃഭാഷയായ മലയാളത്തിനുവേണ്ടി ഭരണകക്ഷിയുടെ പോഷകന്മാര്‍ ഇങ്ങനെ തെരുവിലിറങ്ങേണ്ടി വരുമായിരുന്നോ ?

ഉമ്മറത്തെപ്പല്ലുകൊണ്ട് ചിരിക്കുകയും അണപ്പല്ലുകൊണ്ട് ഉറുമ്മുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ ഉള്ളം കയ്യില്‍ നിന്ന് രോമം പറിച്ചെടുക്കുകയല്ലേ വാസ്തവത്തില്‍ ചെയ്യുന്നത്! ലോകമാതൃഭാഷാദിനമായ ഇന്ന് തീപ്പൊരിവരും! തീപ്പൊരി കുളിരു മാറ്റുകയൊന്നുമില്ല. നമ്മുടെ ഭാഷാനിയമം നവംബര്‍ ഒന്നിന് തെറുപ്പിക്കുന്ന തീപ്പൊരി മാത്രമാണ്.

മലയാളം കേരളത്തിലൊരു പുറംപോക്കായതെങ്ങനെ എന്നാലോചിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ? കാലാകാലങ്ങളില്‍ ഭരണത്തില്‍വന്ന ഘടക കക്ഷികളാണിതിനെ വഷളാക്കിയത്. ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പക്ഷപാതികളായ കുറെ സെക്രട്ടറി ഗുണാണ്‍ഡ്രന്‍മാരും. തെങ്ങുള്ള നാട്ടില്‍ തേങ്ങയും കൊണ്ടു പോകുന്ന പേങ്ങന്മാരെപ്പറ്റി എന്തു പറയാന്‍! തേവരുണ്ടാല്‍ തേക്കില നക്കും. തേവരുടെ നിവേദ്യം കഴിഞ്ഞാല്‍ തേക്കിലയില്‍ പറ്റിപ്പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ചോറെടുത്ത് ഭക്ഷിക്കും ഒടുവില്‍ ലവന്മാരെല്ലാം കൂടി തേവരെ വിറ്റുത്സവം ഘോഷിക്കും. ഇതാണ് നമ്മള്‍ നാട്ടില്‍കണ്ടു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നതു്

ചിലര്‍ വിചാരിക്കുന്നുണ്ടാവാം കുറെ ഭാഷാ തീവ്രവാദികളുണ്ട്. ഭാഷയുടെ പേരും പറഞ്ഞ് അടൂരിനേയും കൂട്ടി പി.എസ്.സി. ആപ്പീസിനുമുന്നിലും സെക്രട്ടേറിയറ്റിന് മുന്നിലും ചെന്നിരുന്ന് പട്ടിണി കിടക്കുന്നവരെന്ന്. എടുക്കാവുന്നതേ ചുമക്കാവൂ ദഹിക്കാവുന്നതേ ഭക്ഷിക്കാവു എന്നൊക്കെ അവര്‍ ആക്ഷേപിച്ചാലും ഭാഷ അവമതിക്കപ്പെടുമ്പോള്‍ സ്വന്തം തള്ളയെ നടക്കിരുത്തു ന്ന 'ചാപിളള ക്കൊച്ചങ്ങത്താ'ന്മാരുടെ ഫ്യൂസ് ഊരാന്‍ സന്നദ്ധത പ്രകടിച്ച ഭാഷാ പോരാളികളെ അഭിനന്ദിക്കുക തന്നെ വേണം. മലയാളത്തിന്റെ മാനം കാത്തുസൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നത് ഈ സമരക്കാരാണെന്ന് പിന്നീട് അവര്‍ക്ക് ബോധ്യമാകും. പണ്ട് തിരുവിതാംകൂറില്‍ റാവുമാര് ദിവാന്മാരായി വന്ന് സ്വദേശികളുടെ മേല്‍ നിരങ്ങിയ കഥയിലേക്ക് പോകണോ?

മുണ്ടുടുത്ത് തരുണന്മാര്‍ക്കും കേരള സാരി ചുറ്റി തരുണികള്‍ക്കും ഫാഷന്‍ പരേഡ് നടത്താനുള്ളതു മാത്രമല്ല ഭാഷാ ദിനവും. മലയാള ഭാഷയുടെ കടക്കല്‍ കത്തി വയ്ക്കുന്നവന്മാരുടെ കൊരവളയ്ക്കു ഭാഷകൊണ്ട് കുത്തിപ്പിടിക്കാന്‍ കൂടിയുള്ളതാണ് ഈ ദിനം.

അധികം കൂകുന്ന കോഴി അല്പമേ മുട്ടയിടു എന്നു കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. അധികം അനന്തരവരുള്ള കാരണവര്‍ വെള്ളമിറങ്ങാതെ ചാകുമെന്നും. മാതൃഭാഷക്കു വേണ്ടിയുള്ള മുറവിളികളെല്ലാം അങ്ങനെയാണ്. ഇനി നമ്മുടെ മാതൃഭാഷാ സമരങ്ങളെല്ലാം അങ്ങനെയായിത്തീരുമോ! ഒരിക്കലും അങ്ങനെയാവാന്‍ തരമില്ല. പി.എസ്സ്.സിക്കു മുമ്പില്‍ തിരുവോണം വെടിഞ്ഞ് ഭാഷക്ക് വേണ്ടി മുറവിളി കൂട്ടിയ അര്‍പ്പണധീരന്മാരാണ് മാതൃഭാഷാ സമരം നയിക്കുന്നത്. കസേര മോഹികളല്ല !

അരി നാഴിയേയുള്ളൂ എങ്കിലും അടുപ്പുകല്ല് മൂന്ന് വേണം എന്ന മട്ടിലാണ് സര്‍ക്കാരിന്റെ പരസ്യങ്ങള്‍ പോലും! വീരവാദങ്ങള്‍ക്കും ഉത്തരവുകള്‍ക്കും ഒരു പഞ്ഞവുമില്ല. എന്നാല്‍ ഇരുളിന്റെ മറവില്‍ ഇറങ്ങുന്ന ഉത്തരവുകള്‍ക്ക് അല്‍പ്പായുസ്സേയുള്ളൂ. ഇത്രയൊക്കെ മുറവിളി കൂട്ടിയിട്ടും അഭ്യാസം കാണിച്ചിട്ടും ഇപ്പോഴും മലയാളം പഠിക്കാത്തൊരുത്തന് പി എസ്സ് സി വഴി ജോലി നേടാവുന്ന സാഹചര്യം കേരളത്തിലുണ്ട്. മറ്റേത് സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് മാതൃഭാഷ പഠിക്കാത്തവന് ജോലി കിട്ടും?

എന്തിന്, ചട്ടങ്ങള്‍ മറികടന്ന് മലയാളം ലക്‌സിക്കന്റെ മേധാവിയായി മലയാളം എഴുതാനും വായിക്കാനുമറിയാത്ത ബന്ധു നിയമനം ശരിവച്ചല്ലേ മാതൃഭാഷാമലയാളത്തെ ഭരണം പോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. ഇതാണ് പറയുന്നത് ചിരിക്കാനൊരു പല്ലും ചവക്കാനൊരു പല്ലും സര്‍ക്കാരിനുണ്ടെന്ന്. ആയിരംതെങ്ങുള്ള നായര്‍ക്ക് പല്ലുകുത്താന്‍ ഈര്‍ക്കിലില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെയായി കാര്യങ്ങള്‍! സര്‍വ്വത്ര മലയാളമയം. പക്ഷേ, എവിടെയങ്കിലും മലയാളം നടപ്പിലായിട്ടുണ്ടോ എന്നൊന്ന് ഇറങ്ങി അന്വേഷിക്കുക.

അരക്കാശിന് കുതിരയും വേണം അക്കരക്കത് ചാടുകയും വേണമെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ കാര്യം നടക്കുമോ? മാതൃഭാഷ പഠിച്ച അദ്ധ്യാപകരെത്തന്നെ പ്രാഥമിക ക്ലാസ്സുകളില്‍ നിയമിക്കണം. ചെലവ് ചുരുക്കാനാണ് പദ്ധതിയെങ്കില്‍ പള്ളിക്കൂടങ്ങള്‍ എന്തിന്?

കേരളത്തില്‍ മാതൃഭാഷാ പഠനം കാര്യക്ഷമമാക്കാത്തതിന്റെ ഉദാഹരണങ്ങള്‍ നമ്മള്‍ നിത്യവും കാണുന്നതല്ലേ.?മലയാളഭാഷ ശരിക്കു പഠിക്കാത്തതിന്റെ വിളയാട്ടങ്ങള്‍ ചില മന്ത്രിമാരുടെ വായില്‍ നിന്നു വരെ നമ്മള്‍ കേട്ടുചിരിക്കുന്നില്ലേ? അയല്‍ വീട്ടിലെ ചോറു കണ്ട് പട്ടിയെ വളര്‍ത്തുന്ന കേരളീയര്‍ക്ക് പണ്ടേ ഉള്ള ശീലമല്ലേ കോന്തപ്പന്‍ കുടിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ കോരപ്പന് ലഹരി കേറുന്നത്?

എന്നാല്‍ ഭാഷാ സ്‌നേഹികളെ നോക്കണേ ഏട്ടില്‍ നിന്ന് റോട്ടിലേക്ക് വരികയാണ്. പെരുവഴിയിലേക്ക്. ഇത് ഏതെങ്കിലും ദേശത്തു നടക്കുമോ? മാതൃഭാഷക്കുവേണ്ടി സഹികെട്ട് തെരുവരുകില്‍ കുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നതും പട്ടിണി കിടക്കുന്നതും.

നട തള്ളിയതള്ളയ്ക്ക് രാവിലെ മസാല ദോശയും ഉച്ചക്ക് ചോറും രാത്രി കഞ്ഞിയും വാങ്ങിക്കൊടുത്ത് ആ മക്കള്‍ക്ക് ഒത്താശ ചെയ്യാനാണോ ഭാവം? അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ ഇവന്മാര്‍ എവിടം വരെ പോകുമെന്ന് നോക്കിയിട്ട് ഇറങ്ങാമെന്നു കരുതി മിണ്ടാതിരിക്കുകയാണോ? ചെല്ലം പോയെങ്കിലും താക്കോലും കൈയ്യില്‍പ്പിടിച്ച് നടക്കുന്നവന്മാരല്ലേ നമ്മുടെ പ്രതിപക്ഷം. ജാരനേയും ചോരനേയും പാമ്പുകടിക്കുകയില്ല എന്ന ചൊല്ല് എന്ത് അര്‍ഥവത്താണ്. അതിവിടെ കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ്സിനേയും ബിജെപിയെയും എന്നാക്കിയാല്‍ മതി. പഴി ഇരുകൂട്ടര്‍ക്കും വെവ്വേറെയില്ല. രണ്ടിനേയും പാമ്പുകടിക്കുകയില്ല.

കടിച്ചതൊക്കെ കരിമ്പും പിടിച്ചതൊക്കെ പുളിങ്കൊമ്പുമായി നമ്മുടെ രാഷ്ട്രീയപ്പാര്‍ട്ടികള്‍ നടപ്പുണ്ട്. ആര്‍ക്കെങ്കിലും തോന്നിയോ മാതൃഭാഷ ഒന്നാം ഭാഷയാക്കണമെന്ന് ! മൂന്നരക്കോടി ജനസംഖ്യയില്‍ ജനസംഖ്യയില്‍ 96.68% ആളുകള്‍ മാതൃഭാഷയാണിവിടെ സംസാരിക്കുന്നത്. നമ്മളേക്കാള്‍ കുറവ് 89% ശതമാനമുള്ള തമിഴിലും 63 % ഉള്ള തെലുഗുവിലുംഒന്നാം ഭാഷ മാതൃഭാഷയായി ക്കഴിഞ്ഞു.

ക്ലാസ്സിക്കല്‍ മലയാളത്തിന് അക്കൗണ്ടില്‍ പണംവന്നിട്ടുണ്ടോ എന്ന് നോക്കിയിരിക്കുകയാണ് ഇവിടെയുള്ള പാര്‍ട്ടികള്‍. എന്നാല്‍ ആസ്ഥാനം പോലും കാസര്‍കോട്ടോ തിരൂരോ എന്ന് തീരുമാനം പോലുമായിട്ടില്ല. കഞ്ഞി കുടിച്ചു കിടന്നാലും മീശതുടക്കാനാളുവേണം. അതാണ് അവസ്ഥ. ആ വിഷയം വിടാം.

കേരളീയരെ ജാതിമതങ്ങള്‍ക്കതീതമായി ഒരൊറ്റ ജനതയായി ഉയിരേകി ഐക്യപ്പെടുത്തി നില നിര്‍ത്തുന്ന ഒരേ ഒരാത്മശക്തി നമ്മുടെ മാതൃഭാഷയായ മലയാളമാണ്. കേരളത്തില്‍ മതേതരത്വത്തിന്റെ മുദ്രയാണ് മലയാളം. അതിനെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷു കൊണ്ട് വെട്ടാനോ ഹിന്ദി കൊണ്ട് നുറുക്കാനോ അറബിയില്‍ കെട്ടിപ്പൊതിഞ്ഞ് ദൂരെക്കളയാനോ ആരും മനക്കോട്ട കെട്ടേണ്ട !

ഓടുന്നവന് വഴിയൊന്ന്. തേടുന്നവന് വഴിയൊന്‍പത്‌. തേടുന്നവന് വഴിമാറിക്കൊടുക്കുകയായിരുന്നു ഇത്രയും കാലം മാതൃഭാഷ : അത് വന്നു വന്ന് നാണം കെട്ടവനേ കോലം കെട്ടൂ എന്ന മട്ടിലാക്കിയതാരാണ്? കേരളം മാറിമാറി ഭരിച്ച സര്‍ക്കാരുകള്‍. അതിന്റെ പുതിയ പതിപ്പല്ലേ സ്‌ക്കൂളില്‍ മലയാളം പഠിക്കാത്ത സാറന്മാരെ ഉന്തിത്തള്ളി മലയാളം പഠിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ വിടുന്നത്‌. നാണം കെട്ടുള്ള ഈ കോലം കെട്ടലാണ് ഇന്ന് സ്‌കൂളുകളില്‍ നടക്കുന്നത്.

മലയാളം ക്ലാസ്സുകളെടുക്കാന്‍ നിയോഗിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന മലയാളമറിയാത്ത അദ്ധ്യാപകരെക്കൊണ്ട് അധികൃതര്‍ മലയാള ഭാഷയെയും നാണം കെടുത്തുകയല്ലേ? 'ആളു നോക്കണ്ടടീ കോളു നോക്കിയാ മതി.' എന്ന് പറയിപ്പിക്കുന്നതാരാണ്? മറ്റേപ്പണിക്കിറക്കുന്ന ലാഘവത്തോടെ നായ്‌ക്കോലം കെട്ടിയാല്‍ കുരക്കാന്‍ മടിക്കുന്നതെന്തിന് എന്ന് പറയിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഉത്തരവുകളല്ലേ പള്ളിക്കൂടത്തില്‍ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ ഇറക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്?

പണ്ടൊക്കെ നാലാള്‍ പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ നാടും വഴങ്ങുമായിരുന്നു. ഇപ്പോള്‍ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ നയത്തില്‍ തന്നെ എല്‍.പി. /യു.പി. മലയാള ഭാഷാപഠനം തനിയെ ഉഴുന്ന പന്നിയ്ക്ക് മേല്‍ കലപ്പ വയ്ക്കുന്ന ഏര്‍പ്പാടാണ്. അത്ര ഗൗരവമേ ഭാഷാ പഠനത്തിന് കൊടുത്തിട്ടുള്ളൂ. നാം കേരളീയര്‍ ജീവിക്കുന്ന ഇടം മലയാളമാണ്. ശരി. മലയാളത്തിനെതിരെയുള്ള ഏതു നീക്കവും നാം ഒറ്റക്കെട്ടായി എതിര്‍ക്കേണ്ടതുണ്ട്. എന്നാല്‍ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ ഉത്തരവുകള്‍ക്കുണ്ടോ പഞ്ഞം ?

തലതാഴ്ത്തിയാല്‍ കഴുത്തില്‍ കയറും ഉയര്‍ത്തിയാലോ കാല്‍ക്കല്‍ വീഴും. ഇതാണ് അതാത് ഭരണക്കാലത്തെ ഉദ്യേഗസ്ഥവൃന്ദം. പല്ലില്ലെങ്കില്‍ തൊണ്ണ വരെ കയ്യിടുന്ന കൂട്ടര്‍. ഭരിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്കാണങ്കിലോ പറഞ്ഞു കൊടുക്കാനാളുണ്ട് ചെയ്തു കൊടുക്കാനാളില്ല. കുറെക്കാലമായി കണ്ടുവരുന്നത്, മാതൃഭാഷാ ദിനത്തില്‍ പഴം നീട്ടിയിട്ട് പിന്നെ തൊലി കൊടുക്കുന്ന ഏര്‍പ്പാടാണ് സര്‍ക്കാരിന്റേത്. പശിക്കുമ്പോളച്ചി പശു ക്കയറും തിന്നുമെന്ന് അവര്‍ക്കറിയില്ല. ഗതികെട്ടവരുടെ സമരമാണിപ്പോള്‍ നടക്കുന്നത്.

അളമുട്ടിയവരുടെ സമരം. മലയാളം മറ്റൊരു ഭാഷയുടെയും ശത്രുവല്ല. ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് വേണ്ടന്നവര്‍ പറയുന്നില്ല. ഭാഷാ വിവേചനമല്ല തുല്യതയാണ് പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നത്. മാതൃഭാഷയെ ചെറിയ ക്ലാസ്സുകള്‍ മുതല്‍ പഠിപ്പിച്ച് ഉറപ്പിക്കാന്‍ പറയുന്നതൊരു തെറ്റാണോ ? ബോധനമാധ്യമം മലയാളത്തിലായാല്‍ എന്താണ് തകരാറ്! തല കുലുക്കി സമ്മതിക്കും. നടപ്പാക്കാന്‍ മുട്ടിടിക്കും!

കേരളത്തില്‍ ജീവിക്കുന്ന കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങള്‍ മലയാളം പഠിക്കാതെ വളരണം എന്ന ശാഠ്യമാണ് ചിലര്‍ക്ക്. നടക്കുന്നതിനെ വിട്ട് പറക്കുന്നതിനെ പിടിക്കാന്‍ മാതൃഭാഷയെ പടിയടച്ച് പിണ്ഡം വയ്ക്കാന്‍ തുനിഞ്ഞിറങ്ങിയ ചില സിവില്‍ സര്‍വ്വീസ് പുംഗവന്മാരുണ്ട്. നഗ്‌ന ലോകത്തെ വെളുത്തേടന്മാര്‍. ലവന്മാരാണ് ഇതിന് കാരണക്കാര്‍. അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ മുഖ്യന്റെ ഉത്തരവിന് പുല്ലു വില പോലും കല്‍പ്പിക്കാത്തവന്മാരെ കഴുത്തിന് പിടിച്ച് പുറത്തു തള്ളാന്‍ മുട്ടിടിക്കുന്നവരല്ലേ ഭരണാധിപന്മാര്‍.

Sobhita Dhulipala considers herself an outsider — wherever she is.

She grew up in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, making her an outsider in the country’s financial and fashion capital, Mumbai. Her native tongue is Telugu, making her an outsider in predominantly Hindi-speaking Bollywood.

And now, with the release on Friday of the high-octane, Jordan Peele-produced “Monkey Man,” in which she stars alongside Dev Patel, she is again an outsider, thrust into Hollywood’s limelight. In fact, the premiere of the film at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, last month was the first time Ms. Dhulipala, 31, had ever set foot on American soil.

“In India, I’m South Indian,” Ms. Dhulipala, who lives in Mumbai, said in a video interview from her hotel room in Los Angeles. “When I come to America, I’m Indian.”

“It’s amazing that I get to come to this country with a film,” she added. “It’s like I come with an offering.”

That real-life feeling of being an outsider is the undercurrent for many of her onscreen roles. In the Amazon Prime series “ Made in Heaven ,” Ms. Dhulipala’s character is a low-income nobody who schemes her way into upper-class circles. In “Monkey Man,” she plays Sita, a call girl whose business is the pleasure of powerful but despicable men.

To her, being able to make a career out of playing characters on the margins who defy easy categorization is a point of pride. “Those are really beautifully complex humans,” she said. “To be considered someone who can be trusted with characters like that is really an honor.”

Acting was never Ms. Dhulipala’s career plan. Her family was full of academics, including her mother, who was a middle-school science teacher, so she figured she would do something similar. “I didn’t grow up thinking that I would be an artist or some such — it was such an irresponsible thought,” she said. “Being creative was, like, an indulgent hobby.”

She was studying for a master’s degree in corporate law in Mumbai when she first dipped her toe in entertainment by taking on a hodgepodge of modeling gigs and TV commercials. In 2013, she entered and won the Miss Earth India pageant. As she started landing more jobs, she dropped out of her master’s program and, in 2016, starred in her first Bollywood film, the psychological thriller “Raman Raghav 2.0.” She then starred in several Tollywood films (Telugu films made in southern India) before being cast in “Made in Heaven,” which was released in 2019.

But it was before she was seeing any success in India, even before the release of her first film there, that she auditioned for the role of Sita in “Monkey Man,” she said. It took the team several years to get back to her — she had assumed they had moved on and found someone else — and when the call finally came, in 2019, Mr. Patel told her that he had decided that she would be perfect for the role from the moment he saw her audition.

Ms. Dhulipala said she had been drawn to “Made in Heaven” in part because the show addressed issues — including gay rights, colorism and the caste system — that weren’t typically touched on in mainstream Bollywood hits.

“If something inspires me or there’s some value I can bring to the story, I want to belong with it,” she said.

“Monkey Man” has just the sort of array of lightning rods that attracts Ms. Dhulipala: an enclave of combative transgender women, an anti-establishment sex worker and an anti-police plot. Working with Mr. Patel on his directorial debut could have been a risky move for a Hollywood unknown, but Ms. Dhulipala said the dynamic had felt especially collaborative. “It’s a different kind of relationship altogether,” she said. “There’s trust, fear, vulnerability, and you move as one pack, one team.”

“There’s a certain purity and passion there — working with a first-time filmmaker,” she added. “So I came on board, I jumped on board.”

Granted, in this film, she barely has a few dozen lines of dialogue, and her character would not pass even a generous version of the Bechdel test. (There’s something poetic, she claimed, in portraying “the moments between the words.”)

Her willingness to buck trends spills over into her style choices, too. Early in her career, she recalled being styled by a bunch of people “who probably did not get my vibe so much,” she said. “Because I didn’t really have that much of a voice, I’d just give in.”

But now, she often follows her instincts, leaning into Indian designers and traditional styles. At the “Monkey Man” premiere last month, she wore a stereoscopic dress designed by Amit Aggarwal , and last year, she walked the runway at India Couture Week in a bejeweled silver lehenga.

“I figured that I don’t have to rely on one person’s vision for me or a stylist’s psyche of what I should look like,” she said. “I can just try things I’m gravitating toward.” A lot of times, her interest in an outfit or look is laced with nostalgia. “I love a sari because maybe that’s my memory of my mother, my teachers in school. There’s a certain grace and dignity, but also sex appeal.”

DietSabya, an influential fashion and celebrity-focused Instagram account that has over 400,000 followers, named Ms. Dhulipala as one of its top picks for best dressed of 2023 . Her style is a hit with fans, too. A bodycon dress by Sabyasachi that she wore in the second season of “Made in Heaven” prompted the show’s audience to label it India’s equivalent of “ the revenge dress .”

Similarly, in what she said feels like another small act of rebellion, Ms. Dhulipala’s been embracing her natural curly hair. “In India, you’re just constantly wanting to look more homogenous. So everyone’s constantly trying to blow-dry, straighten — I’ve been through that journey as well,” she said. Now, she added: “I’m just like, I like my hair, the texture. Hair is history, right? It’s part of your identity.”

In keeping with her unconventional choices, Ms. Dhulipala has her eye on either sci-fi or more action movies in the future. But in the next film, she wants to do more of the action herself, she said. And perhaps a little more talking, too.
