An Embarrassing Moment in My Life Essay

February 21, 2018 by Study Mentor 1 Comment

Everyone faces some or the other type of embarrassment in their lives. While some are easy to digest, some that hit your mind hard every time.

When you are idle and not doing any work, you may be reminded of it. If you happened to meet the person who was in the situation when you felt embarrassed, you would get the same feeling again.

I also have experienced these sorts of embarrassing moments.

Actually, embarrassing moments could be easily recalled, it may even bring a smile on your face at times.

We wouldn’t expect ourselves to be part of embarrassing situations. When we are put under such situations, we really don’t know how to find a way out.

Though there are many embarrassing moments in my life I could only share a few of them below.

My first most embarrassing moment was when I was 10 years old, one day I was playing with my friends and I had an urge to attend to nature’s call. I steadily ignored my body’s warning signs.

I continued playing with my friends. In the meantime, everyone gathered in a group near a motor cycle (bike). On the pillion seat of the bike there is a provision of a tucked net.

It is generally used for holding some stuff.  I started playing with it pretending to be holding it ,stretching it, etc. All of a sudden, the owner of bike came from nowhere.

All my friends started running and I was standing there all alone. He held my hands tightly and started scolding me for what I was doing with his bike.

He started blaming me for playing with his possession. He inquired why I was scratching his bike’s seat with my nail. As I was playing with the net, I clarified my stand.

Surely enough, I was unable to speak anything more to save myself.  I got scared and then I peed then and there. All were looking at me.

The uncle released my hand and I ran towards my house crying loudly. My grandmother asked me worriedly.

I answered her that I fell into a puddle of muddy water. I asked her to give me clothes to change. That night was very hard indeed!

This experience may create a laughing sensation with readers. To me, it was very shameful, given I was a ten year old girl at that time!

The second experience was when I was in my high school. I was a student of biology. Everyone at class used to call me a doctor. This was quite a good thing for me.

It made me happy that everyone was calling me a doctor. One fine day I was getting down the stairs from my biology class. Normally, I used to jump on the stairs routinely.

On that day too, I repeated the same act. Some of the well known boys of our school were standing there. As I jumped, I lost my control and got smashed on the floor.

I fell down from 5th stair and hit the ground floor. Everyone out there just started laughing at me. Some came to help me.

To avoid any further embarrassment, I too started laughing. Later when I came home, I felt so humiliated that I didn’t attend school for 2 days.

The third experience was due to my overconfidence. I unnecessarily caught everyone’s attention for all the wrong reasons.

Last year my uncle bought me a new bike – Activa (Scooty). After taking riding lessons, I was very excited to ride my scooty. When my students left for home, I took the keys and went down to start the bike.

Half way through, I saw one of my students standing.  I began flaunting my new scooty. He greeted me and soon after that, I lost control over my scooty. Instead of applying brakes, I accelerated it and got hit with a washer man.

By god’s grace I just hit his chair and not him. There was no big loss to him. My scooty got damaged and I got hurt badly. That day, I got embarrassed in front of my students.

My fourth embarrassing experience till date is a very sad moment. Our 11th class had just begun.  I had also joined a coaching centre.

I had a lot of friends there too! One fine day, a guy approached me seeking good friendship with me. I smartly agreed.

Slowly we started talking. We chatted for long hours over phone, late night chats became common. At the coaching class too, our talks grew and I totally fell for him.

One day I proposed to him. In response, he said he needs some time to think over. He assured to maintain confidentiality of the matter.

I trusted him blindly. To my fate, the next day when I arrived at the institute, all his friends were smiling at me fishily. I tried to ignore them. After a few days I was in for a bigger shock.

I saw one of my friends holding his hands and learnt that they were actually in a relationship, I felt so unwanted and upset. I called him. I pleaded with him for keeping me in darkness.

Without speaking any further, I cut the call abruptly. Then he called me again and apologized. I accepted his apology. I trusted him not to tell anyone about my proposal but that wasn’t true.

His girlfriend asked me if I had ever proposed to her guy, to which I said a yes and left the scene. After a few days I came to know that he had spilled the beans right from the first day among all his friends.

This incident happened around 2 years ago. Now I have moved on and leading a happy life.

And the last embarrassing moment in my life was the last day of school. As Diwali vacations were going to start, I brought some crackers from home.

I wished to light them in school. The school authorities weren’t going to agree to this. So, I quietly went upstairs and lit one of the crackers.

I was caught red handed by one of my teachers. She scolded me in front of the whole class. She said it was not expected from me. That day luck wasn’t in my favor and I really felt bad and embarrassed.

Some embarrassing moments are lessons to us. We shouldn’t worry what people think about us.

We should move on from bad situations. One bad incident cannot erase our entire life. Every person comes into your life as a lesson.

I like the stories. Yhe only issue is that they have laughed at you for, in my opinion, no reason. I must say that I wouldn’t have laughed if I was there. Well, no one knows how I could have reacted, especially as a 15 year old, but still you have my support!

My Most Embarrassing Moment

My Most Embarrassing Moment Some things are easier to remember, than to forget. I can remember my most embarrassing moment as if it happened yesterday. I’ve tried to forget about this moment all my life, but it just never goes away. I can think back to that day and just laugh. I was nine years old, and I was attending elementary school. I was starting my fourth grade year with no friends. I was a quiet and shy person, so I never hung out with the other kids. After a few months I manage to make friends and wasn’t so shy anymore, until one day. It was Monday December 10, 1999. Like any other day I got up and ready for school.

I notice that it was very cold outside, so I asked my mom to drop me off at school. On my arrival, I immediately entered the school and went downstairs to the cafeteria, where I met with some of my classmates. Time passed by and the first bell ran and everyone including myself started heading upstairs to homeroom. My homeroom was on the 4th floor. I used to hate this because by the time I would get to the 4th floor, I would be tired and running out of breath. While trying to my catch breath, I had to walk all the way down this long hallway, just to get to my classroom, which was room 313.

I finally got there, and immediately went inside the classroom, and said “hi” to my teacher Miss. Fitzgerald. I sat down in my assign seat, which was the first seat on the second row. As we were waiting for the rest of the class to come in, my friend Raul, who was sitting behind me said “hi. ” He usually didn’t talk to me, because I was too shy. And I didn’t talk to him, because he was consider the cutes boy in my class, who every girl used to like. But to me he was just like any other boy who pretended to be a young Justin Timberlake, but with no fame. We exchanged a few words and then the teacher begun to lecture.

Hours when by and it was finally time for lunch. After forming a line, we started to go downstairs to the cafeteria. As we went down, I started to smell the food, which that day we were having pizza. It smelled like juicy cheese melting down in warm tomato sauce! I couldn’t wait to sit and eat. Shortly after that, it was time to return to class. Once again, we made a line and headed upstairs. As we got to the fourth floor, I felt someone touch my butt. I turn around quickly to figure out who had touched me inappropriately and the only person I saw behind me was my friend Raul.

I didn’t know what to do, my heart was pumping like if I had just gotten chase by zombies. I was so scared that I started to cry. Everyone gazed at me, wondering what was wrong. In the meantime, my teacher Miss. Fitzgerald kept asking me in a loud tone of voice, “What is the problem Coyna? ” I didn’t want to answer her in front of the whole class. She then kept asking me the same question in louder tone of voice. I had no choice, but to tell her out loud, “Raul touched my butt! ” At the moment, my body went numb. My face turned red as a strawberry.

I was so embarrass because no one has ever touched me like that before. Everyone kept looking at me with eagle eyes, as if I was their prey hunt. In my mind I just keep saying “oh my god why did this happened to me and why are all eyes on me”. I felt so uncomfortable that I wanted to hide under a rock and not come out in years. We finally got to the classroom where Miss. Fitzgerald ordered the rest of the class to go inside. She then asked Raul if what I was saying was true, and Raul denied everything making me look like a liar. Consequently, the teacher didn’t do anything but give Raul a warning.

Afterward, I felt very embarrass and didn’t talk to anybody for a whole week, including the teacher. Finally, every time I think about this experience in Elementary School I can’t help myself but to laugh. I was only nine years old in the fourth grade, who would had thought that something like this could had happen to me. It was not a pleasant situation; I just wish I was matured enough to handle it differently. However, I was fortunate enough to learn from such experience, even though I am still embarrassed about that day. Just remember that what happens unexpectedly stays forever as a memory.

The Most Embarrassing Day of Your Life Essay

Every person has embarrassing days that one regrets or does not want to recall under any circumstances. These memories make us feel awkward and blame ourselves for what we have done wrong or not adequately. People prefer not to tell their relatives, friends, and colleagues about these moments as they are afraid that the society’s opinion about them might change in a blink of an eye. As we grow up, our views on life change and these stories become good memories that give us life experience. Nowadays I am glad to share various awkward cases with other people. The following paper will discuss the most embarrassing day of my life and will demonstrate how my views on lives have been changing since childhood.

The most embarrassing day of my life was when I was a child. I did not understand every aspect of people’s relationships and values at the age of seven yet. I believe that there are many people in the world who regret particular events or days of their adolescence (Widen 188). However, it was a regular Sunday when my family and I went to church. While the pastor was preaching, I was searching through his wife’s purse as she was sitting next to me. When I found the lady’s camera, I took it and went to the Sunday school with this device. My friends and I were playing with the stolen camera, and I did not tell my peers where it came from. However, the pastor’s family lived in our neighborhood. When my parents found out about the case described above, they made me go to the pastor’s house, apologize, and return the camera to his wife. When I was a child, I did not feel embarrassed about that incident, but now I realize what my parents felt that day.

Unfortunately, that hapless Sunday went on. I heard my mother talking to her auxiliary on a cellular phone. I remember that she was not satisfied with someone’s work, and told her colleague that she would not receive any bonuses this month. I decided to message her auxiliary as I heard her name during their conversation. As I was angry at the person who made my mother nervous, I was rude to that lady in my text. I offended her by using an abusive nickname and told the woman that she will not ever receive any bonuses from now on. Unfortunately, I got my mother in trouble by sending that message. Moreover, I happened to meet her colleague on the same day, and she already knew that it was I who offended her. I felt embarrassed and always avoided looking into the lady’s eyes.

In the evening of the same day, I went to the groceries store that was situated in our neighborhood. I met my classmate on the way there who told me that he has been stealing chips from that store. My mother gave me money to buy one loaf of bread, milk, and some cereal for the next day breakfast, and it was not enough for a package of chips. Therefore, I decided to steal it from the shop, and my friend taught me how. The storekeeper knew my father and asked him to pay for the chips I stole before I came home. My dad made me go to the store again and give the money to his acquaintance.

Usually, people regret their childhood deeds and realize their mistakes when they become adults. Unfortunately, I had some awkward situations in my life that I feel embarrassed about till the present day. These moments emphasize on children’s careless minds and their wrong perception of the surrounding world.

The Most Embarrassing Moment In my Life

Introduction, the waiting.

Every year our school holds a week-long cultural festival that is aimed at identifying and nurturing talents as well as showcasing the rich cultural diversity in our country. All through the cultural week, different events are held during the night and others in the daytime. The main events such as games, public lectures, etc. are held at the main square during the day when everybody including the staff and neighboring communities can attend. Real talent shows such as songs and dances, poetry, and beauty contests are held during the night. It is during the culture week in our last year that two of my friends and I decided that we had a talent for poetry. We had been preparing for this night for ages and were convinced that we had the most amazing voices and talents in poetry. We were planning to rock the whole auditorium with our recitals, which our patron had approved with glowing remarks. But as fate would have it, the best-laid plans are not always the most successful ones as we discovered with my friends. Our well-polished plans came to a total disaster when I fell on stage before our presentation.

It was finally the big day, one that we had been making plans for and awaiting with bated breath. The day was so majestic you could see it shine with a welcoming sun and a sky a beautiful blue. The school grounds looked like a big carnival with people dressed in all colors. Soon it was evening and the event was to start at eight o’clock and all contestants were to report at seven-thirty in the changing room of the school auditorium, where the event was to take place. The auditorium is a huge, round room arranged in three rows of seats and a stage perched at one corner and rose such that everybody has an obstructed view of what is happening. Once on the stage one had a feeling of being swallowed by a giant or of floating in the Indian Ocean.

We were at the changing room at the back of the auditorium as I mused over the way things never go the way they are meant to be. We could have a view of one side of the gigantic room from the look of it there was not even a breathing space. It was a Friday night and you can imagine every soul in the school was in the room. I started having jitters all over my body and if you looked closely you could see my heart trying to escape from my chest beneath my cute flowery top. My friends were no better. The big changing room was a beehive of activity as participants, in all shades and designs of ridiculous costumes, were busy trying to put everything in order as they awaited their turn to present their pieces. You could cut the tension in the room with a knife.

Finally, it was our turn and I could see the coordinator standing at the door and beckoning us to the stage as was the plan. All of a sudden, my legs could not move, it was as if they were made of lead and my friends came and roughly dragged me towards the door. As I came out, to say I was astonished would be an understatement. I could not believe it. The unusually large room was full to the brim and I could not make out a single face, only a sea of faces. A cold shiver ran through my body and I stood there transfixed, my friends, realizing this dragged me on. Then it was very quiet you could hear a needle drop, they were waiting for us to begin. As I came to the top of the stairs, I missed one step and fell, face down, down the stairs. Within a second people were all over me and there was pandemonium in the auditorium as people rushed to help me others asking in panic what had happened. Right then I wished the ground could open up and swallow me but, no such luck as the Master of a ceremony called people to order apologized and we were asked to begin. I went through the pieces in a daze I have never been so embarrassed.

Though we make meticulous plans of our days, lives and events, this does do not go smoothly as we want them. The day my friends and I planned to outshine was marked by embarrassment, which we overcame brilliantly according to our colleagues, to win in the poetry contest. From this, I learned to put on a brave face and smile every time I find myself in an embarrassing situation.

The Most Embarrassing Moment in My Life

Embarrassing-Moment

Some embarrassing moments can etch into one’s memory like a brand on cattle. My most embarrassing situation stands out among the many stories I can recount. It was a presentation day at my university; the day that turned out to be a life-changing one.

The time of the presentation arrived with a sense of foreboding. My palms were sweaty, and my heart raced as I rehearsed my speech one last time. I tried my best to becalm myself, “I can do this! I believe in myself!” I was ready to present my research project to the university. I had spent weeks meticulously preparing, researching, and practising. Confidence had never been my strong suit. But I was determined to make a lasting impression.

When I heard my name called out, I approached the front of the room. My heart was pounding louder than a drum. My thoughts were running wild. Silence filled the room. All attention was fixed on me. I began my presentation, carefully and properly articulating my points. My nervousness started fading away. Soon, I found myself engaging with the audience, speaking confidently and giving my best for the presentation.

However, as I walked back and forth across the room, the unexpected happened. My foot got caught on the edge of the carpet. In that heart-stopping moment, time seemed to slow down. In my attempt to stand still, I stumbled forward and tripped out of nowhere. My body failed to regain balance. I hit the ground, knees first, followed by my hands. Gasps and laughter filled the room. It seemed like time had stopped for me. The otherwise strict professor also could not hold in his chuckles. My cheeks burned with embarrassment. I wished the floor would swallow me whole. I scrambled to my feet, attempting to salvage the remnants of my dignity.

To add salt to the injury, I noticed a trickle of blood from my scraped knee, a badge of my humiliation. I mumbled an apology for the disruption and pulled myself together. The professor tried to comfort me, “Don’t worry. You know, in life, it’s not about how many times you fall, but how many times you get up and continue.” His words of encouragement gave me the strength to get up. For the rest of the time, I walked very cautiously. But, the rest of my presentation was a blur. My once well-structured sentences stumbled like a shaken snow globe. My confidence had vanished into thin air. I felt a mix of emotions after the presentation – relief that it was finally over, embarrassment that I had fallen in front of everyone and a tinge of self-deprecation for my lack of grace.

The memory of that embarrassing fall kept on haunting me for a long time. However, I eventually realised that we all stumble in life, sometimes quite literally. It is a reminder that nobody is perfect. To this day, my professor’s words have served me as a guiding light. A popular quote says, “Never be embarrassed by mistakes. Rather, be thankful for them, because they always present an opportunity for personal growth.” So, I carry the memory of that day with me as a reminder that we should embrace imperfection.

“You know, in life, it’s not about how many times you fall, but how many times you get up and continue.”

Personal Narrative: My Repressed Memories

I couldn't agree more, sometimes I think to myself as well if I have any repressed memories that impact my personality. I never used to be so compulsive or expressive, but I think that has to do with a defense mechanism of mine. I know I have some repressed memories that have molded my personality to be more defensive at times, although I don't like that myself, I do feel it is a defense mechanism to be guarded for protection. I honestly did the same thing with the denial mechanism with my best friend during high school. I was in denial because of my friends passing just wasn't acceptable, and when people approached or confronted me, I pretended as though he was on a long vacation.…

Personal Narrative: My Failure

Failure has always been a huge aspect in my life recurring in everything I indulge myself in; whether it be academically, athletically, or even Boy Scouts. I tend to have a knack for challenging myself till I am unable to complete the task given to me, whilst this could be good in some ways it also puts me in some not favorable situations. More recently I had the thought of completing a bike race , after receiving medical attention for a concussion and a broken collarbone. This was not necessarily the smartest decision on my part, especially since the race was longer than I have ever raced before and also a three day event.…

Personal Narrative: My Mistakes In High School

High school is a time in life where many important lessons are learned to help a person grow into something better. I have made mistakes in my time in high school and from those experiences I have learned valuable lessons. My freshman and sophomore years I was not a good student. The Most Unforgettable Moment in My Life

The most memorable moments of my life.

Everyone’s life is full of memorable moments. Some moments are quite unforgettable. There have been many unforgettable moments in my life. I would like to mention one of them.

The most unforgettable moment in my life is when one day I was travelling from Jammu to Dehli by train. I was in the first class, so only a few passengers were there with me. At a specific station, all of them got off. I was now in the compartment absolutely alone.

After a moment, a clever lady walked into the compartment and sat next to me. She had an ingenious scheme to rob me. She told me she would report to the railway police that I had robbed her if I did not hand over all the money I had to her. I was totally and utterly perplexed when I heard this horrible voice. I made a plan to save myself from that lady’s wicked plan. Therefore, I pretended to be a deaf and a dumb fellow and asked her to write what she wanted to say on a piece of paper. She wrote her request happily on the piece of paper and handed it over to me. I changed my seat to pick up a piece of writing. The railway policeman came and asked what the matter was. As smart as she was, the women burst into admissions, so she said I had robbed her of a thousand rupees. He seemed to believe in her false story at first, but when I gave the piece of writing to the police, she turned pale. She was caught red-handed, so I saved myself from her evil scheme.

24 Times Celebrity Were So, So, SO Cringe

Charlie Puth, please never declare "I'm hungies!" again.

Hannah Marder

BuzzFeed Staff

Celebs — they're just like us! Which means they have some pretty embarrassing, awkward, and overall cringy moments. Except since they're celebs...well, they're usually a LOT bigger. Here are 24 times celebs made me make this face:

Woman in striped top making a funny face with scrunched nose and smile

1. In one of the most recent examples, Madonna reportedly chastised a fan for sitting during her concert in Los Angeles this month, saying, "What are you doing sitting down over there?" Walking forward and apparently realizing the person was in a wheelchair, Madonna said, "Oh, okay. Politically incorrect. Sorry about that. I'm glad you’re here."

closeup of madonna

According to a fan,  "There’s a part where during the show she asks everyone to stand up. It’s not about who’s sitting/standing during the entire show. Just 1 section she asks for participation. And this time she embarrassed herself."

2. Another Madonna one for ya — back in 2015, she posted a photo that seemed to be of herself to promote her album Rebel Heart , writing, "I look Kewl.........❀#rebelheart." Later, TikTok user @ameliamgoldie claimed that the photo was actually of her — and that Madonna had photoshopped her own head on top.

3. Ben Affleck made headlines in 2021 after a woman named Nivine Jay posted a TikTok claiming she had matched with Affleck on Raya but unmatched him because she thought his profile was fake. She then alleged that Affleck had reached out to her on Instagram, sending her a video in which he said, "Nivine, why did you unmatch me? It's me!" This might all seem a little far-fetched...except she posted the video Affleck sent.

4. Jennifer Lopez not being recognized in the Bronx still lives rent-free in my mind. Shooting a clip for American Idol , she took a camera crew to the neighborhood she grew up in, pointing out her old home. A man standing outside, confused at her presence, asked who she was. When she answered that she was Jennifer Lopez, he seemed either unimpressed or unaware of who that was.

5. another celeb clip that alwayssss makes me cringe is this complex feature with bella hadid . while talking about sneaker turn-offs, hadid awkwardly calls men courting her "homeboy," uses a bunch of '90s slang, and trails off when saying "homeboy's gonna like....get it." the last phrase in particular became a huge meme online..

It's kind of hard to understand *quite* how awkward this moment is without watching the clip, so go ahead and do so here.

6. Adam Levine got in hot water in 2022 after multiple women came forward with flirty messages he had sent them, even though he's married. While that in itself is embarrassing, it's the contents of the messages that caused people to roast him online. "Holy f–k. Holy f–king f–k. That body of yours is absurd," he allegedly wrote in several messages. "F–kkkkkkkkk I’d do anything for it," he wrote in another. Fans reposted the comments, captioning them with their own scenarios like "Me when I see a Klondike Bar."

Levine released a statement admitting to using "poor judgment in speaking with anyone other than my wife in ANY kind of flirtatious manner." However, he denied having an affair. “I did not have an affair, nevertheless, I crossed the line during a regrettable period of my life. In certain instances it became inappropriate.”

7. One celeb interview clip I can hardly even force myself to watch, it's so awkward, is Iggy Azalea's infamous freestyle. The clip is from back in 2013 when Iggy Azalea was asked to freestyle on the radio show Sway in the Morning. Iggy awkwardly "raps" with no beat, using somewhat stilted lyrics she'd later put in her song "New Bitch," completely switching to a blaccent when she started the verse. The freestyle was relentlessly mocked and memed online when it resurfaced in 2014, with even Iggy later calling the verse "trash."

This isn't Iggy's only freestyle fail, either.

8. Another questionable interview moment that went viral comes from Liam Payne's interview with Logan Paul. Speaking about his first solo single, "Strip That Down," Payne claimed, "I think it outsold everybody within the band, and I was the last to go [solo]. And I never expected that." Fans were quick to prove him wrong, posting receipts that showed both Harry Styles and Zayn Malik's debut solo songs ("Sign of the Times" and "Pillowtalk," respectively), along with other songs they've released, were far more successful. He was also mocked for his claims that the band formed around him as the star.

In the same interview, he said he used to hate Louis, and told a story about someone in 1D pushing him up against the wall, after explaining, “I think it was well-known within the band that I don’t like taking shit." Payne said he told the bandmate that pushed him, “If you don’t remove those hands there’s a high likelihood you’ll never use them again."

He later addressed his comments in a YouTube video, calling them "self-protection" and saying, “A lot of what I said came from the wrong place. I was so angry at what was going on around me and instead of taking a look inwards I decided to look outwards at everybody else and I just think yeah I took it out on everybody else, which is just wrong, really.”

9. In another somewhat embarrassing interview, Payne talked about how he wouldn't know what to say to Harry Styles if he saw him now, then said their music was incredibly different, adding , "I'm like the antichrist version of what Harry is."

10. When Bow Wow flexed his luxurious travel plans on Instagram, it seemed like a pretty regular celeb post, complete with a photo of a private jet and the caption, “Travel day. NYC press run for Growing Up Hip Hop. Lets gooo." However, he was embarrassingly exposed when a Twitter user posted a photo of Bow Wow flying commercial, writing, “So this guy lil Bow Wow is on my flight to NY but on Instagram he posted a picture of a private jet captioned ‘traveling to NY today.'"

11. In one of the most embarrassing social media fails to me, Mia Farrow once posted a happy birthday message to her daughter Quincy, accompanied by a photo. Innocent enough, right? Except she forgot to crop the photo and posted it with the search bar visible. To find the photo, she'd searched "Mia Farrow and her black children."

12. In another online fail, back in 2014, Rita Ora tweeted that she'd release new music if she got 100,000 retweets. It only got 2,000 retweets, and Ora deleted the tweet. She then tweeted, "By the way my Twitter got hacked somebody is threatening to release new music I've worked really hard on. Nothing comes out until I'm ready."

13. I also always laugh at the time Kim Kardashian posted an old bikini photo of herself on Instagram, then claimed her daughter North (then two years old) had posted it, writing, "North posted this while playing games on my phone. Not sure why or how she chose it but I'm not complaining! LOL I deleted it so now reposting it myself!"

View this photo on Instagram

Kim later stood by her claim, writing that North was "always following and unfollowing people on Twitter" and that she "deleted it and then put it back up because why not, haha!!!”

14. One more Instagram example – when Kardashian hanger-on Jonathan Cheban posted a story on Instagram asking "Should I go live later?" and the answer was, overwhelmingly, "no."

Selfie of a man in bed with a poll overlay asking if he should go live, showing 47% yes, 53% no

15. In yet another embarrassing social media snafu, Charli D'Amelio spotted #HereForCharli trending on Twitter in 2021 and tweeted, "Oh my goodness, you are all so sweet to me. You have no idea how much your kind words warm my heart i am so lucky to have you all by my side!! I love you bebs." However, she quickly deleted the tweet when fans pointed out the hashtag was actually for Charli XCX, whose friend, the musician and producer, Sophie, died suddenly.

16. Jim Carrey's two-minute-long video declaring his love for Emma Stone is definitely one of the more bizarre things I've seen a celebrity do, and whether or not he was joking, it had everyone cringing. In the video, Carrey says, "If I were a lot younger, I would marry you, and we would have chubby little freckle-faced kids. We'd laugh all day long and go camping, play Yahtzee, tell ghost stories by the fire. And the sex..." He trailed off, clearly thinking about sex with Emma Stone.

Emma took the video in stride, later saying of the video, "Right before that video came out, we were at the MTV Movie Awards. Jason Sudeikis hosted
There was like five of us, and we just went on this tangent of talking nice behind Jim Carrey's back. Jason was talking about how great [Carrey] was when he went to 'Saturday Night Live' and how he was just like a comedic genius. Everyone was kind of weighing in, like 'He's the best. He's amazing.' And so when [the video] happened, we all kind of talked to each other like, 'Weird, that was the guy we were lauding for, like, 30 minutes.' Have you ever done that? Just all sat around a table saying nice things about one person? It was the greatest thing. You walk away, and you were just like, That felt so good, to talk about how wonderful someone is."

17. Ariana Grande has a ton of tattoos, and it was no surprise when she got one as an homage to her song "7 Rings." She posted the tattoo — written in Japanese characters — online, and fans quickly pointed out her tattoo actually translated to a charcoal grill. Which is especially awkward considering Ari is vegan.

In response to online mockery, she tweeted, “Indeed, I left out â€˜ă€ăźæŒ‡â€™ which should have gone in between. It hurt like fuck n still looks tight. I wouldn’t have lasted one more symbol lmao. But this spot also peels a ton and won’t last so if I miss it enough I’ll suffer thru the whole thing next time.” In another tweet, she wrote, “Pls leave me and my tambourine grill alone. thank u.” She later had the tattoo "fixed," though it still didn't correctly translate to "7 Rings."

18. In 2009, Scott MacIntyre became the first blind person on American Idol , leading to a hilariously awkward moment with Ryan Seacrest. After MacIntyre performed and received a golden ticket in the first round, he came out of the audition room, where Seacrest was waiting. Seacrest then attempted to high-five him, before remembering MacIntyre wouldn't be able to see his hand and slowly lowering it.

19. There's little more embarrassing than a failed PR stunt, and Garth Brooks is perhaps one of the best examples of that. In 1999, Garth Brooks, then a successful country artist, decided to launch an alter ego — Chris Gaines — in preparation for a planned movie about the murder of Gaines to be called The Lamb.

The fictional Gaines was a rock artist, and Garth, as Gaines, appeared as a musical guest on SNL and in a mockumentary for Behind the Music. Garth also released an album as Gaines ahead of The Lamb film titled, Garth Brooks in...the Life of Chris Gaines. People were pretty confused about the whole thing, and when the album didn't sell as well as expected, The Lamb was dropped entirely. The whole thing was super awkward, especially the pseudo-emo photos that came out of it.

Panelists seated at a table with promotional posters for "The Life of Chris Gaines" in the background

20. CeeLo Green also attempted a disastrous reinvention, where he tried to rebrand himself as "Gnarly Davidson" back in late 2016, releasing the song "Fuck Me, I'm Famous" as his alter ego. He then attended the 2017 Grammys as Gnarly, dressed in all-gold. He later claimed he wasn't at the Grammys, telling TMZ, "That’s somebody else altogether, man,” really committing to the bit. After releasing a second song about wanting to be with BeyoncĂ©, Green apparently abandoned the Gnarly Davidson persona.

21. I still can't believe the infamous Best Picture mix-up of 2017 happened, and this list wouldn't be complete without it. Back in 2017, Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty presented the award, with Beatty expressing visible confusion after reading the card (later, he would explain that it was the card for the Best Actress award, which went to Emma Stone for her role in La La Land and had already been announced). Simply seeing La La Land , Dunaway announced that they had won Best Picture. The La La Land producers even made their speeches before there was an awkward commotion onstage, and it was eventually revealed that Moonlight had actually won Best Picture.

22. This isn't the first time something similar happened at a major awards show. In 2015, Steve Harvey also announced the wrong winner in the Miss Universe pageant, and it was super, super awkward.

23. But perhaps the most infamous celeb-messing-up-on-live-TV moments? Ashlee Sympson's lip-synching scandal on Saturday Night Live . When the wrong track began to play (the same one she'd already performed), Simpson did not sing and instead did a strange jig as the band played around her. The moment would go down in SNL history and significantly affect Simpson's career.

24. Finally, Charlie Puth's whole Billboard interview is a bit cringeworthy, but I will forever be haunted by him saying, "I'm hungies!" and making his driver take him out to eat. Please, Charlie, for all of our sakes, never say that again.

The Retro Music Genre That Will Change Your Life

Classic rock rules. When the right song comes on the radio, I pretty much see God.

By Nate Rogers

essay about the most embarrassing moment in my life

Distilled to its purest essence, rock music, my genre of choice, is somewhat embarrassing. I usually enjoy a Kiss song when I hear it, for instance — I wish you luck trying to resist the power-pop perfection of “Strutter” — but I would still prefer that no one walk in on me while it’s playing. (Doesn’t anyone knock anymore?) There are plenty of artful examples of rock music, definitely, but its power-stancing DNA will always be grown adults in silly outfits screaming about their broken hearts.

I don’t get the impression that Spotify, which I use often, values the questionable excesses of rock ’n’ roll quite the way I do. That’s not necessarily a terrible thing — nobody should just be sitting around listening to arena rock from the 1970s. But I have a theory about why the streaming giant favors certain softer styles of music: Perhaps the most ideal streaming customer is one who uses a service while working, racking up hours of passive plays. But you cannot have Kiss on while you work. You’ll quickly get irritated with the repetition or the obnoxious lyrics or the tinny production and want to switch to something more pacifying. And Spotify will be more than happy to offer an alternative, having become quite adept at recommending music that hits the spot, song after song, through its Autoplay algorithm. My experience with letting Spotify take the wheel is that it finds music that sits pleasantly in the background, and while listening with Autoplay on, my environs are like a coffee shop, no matter where I am. In other words, the platform doesn’t really get, nor effectively push, the core of the subgenre I crave most of all: classic rock.

You’re probably familiar with the peculiar distinctions of classic rock, even as they continue to morph in real time. Based on what classic rock D.J.s tend to play, we’re talking about music made from the mid-60s to the early ’00s at this point (sorry, I don’t like that any more than you do). But the songs are not determined by age so much as feel: Hoobastank’s schmaltzy hit “The Reason” is more than 20 years old now, though you would not classify it as classic rock. Red Hot Chili Peppers’ war-torn ballad “Scar Tissue,” however, released just a few years earlier, fits the bill. Classic rock is music you could see a suburban father listening to on a speaker while washing his car in the driveway. Painfully masculine, beautifully simple.

Take that car out of the driveway, and an alternative to streaming-induced banality awaits. I’ve found myself tuning in to 95.5 KLOS, my local classic-rock station, as I drive around the concrete sprawl of Los Angeles, which is an easy place to get sentimental about rock history. Turn a corner, and there’s Whisky a Go Go, there’s Laurel Canyon, there’s Sunset Sound. Leather-pants-wearing ghosts everywhere you look. L.A. was not built on subtlety, and it’s often best to commune with it at a high volume. A little bit of added radio crackle is fine; everything is grimy here.

I like listening to rock ’n’ roll not to accent my world but rather to draw my active attention.

Of course, the sugar blast of the most carnal rock songs cannot alone constitute a healthful diet, but a little can be rejuvenating. On my own, I would never fire up Mötley CrĂŒe’s “Kickstart My Heart,” and I doubt Spotify would serve it to me through Autoplay. I’m thankful for that — it makes me feel as if I need a shower afterward — but total abstention from a song that catchy is like never indulging in a milkshake.

And certain peaks of rock history are well established for a reason. After hearing Jimi Hendrix’s “Voodoo Child” approximately 10 times in one month, I’m convinced there’s no moment more musically exhilarating than when the full band kicks in. And every time I hear Tom Petty sing about having the radio on in “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” while I, too, have the radio on, I pretty much see God. At one point recently, when a KLOS D.J. seamlessly transitioned Bob Seger’s “Hollywood Nights” into the Cars’ “Just What I Needed,” I almost burst out of my Prius.

But the classic rock I enjoy is not the only reason I tune into KLOS. What I’m also looking for is the music I despise . How else would I know that Grand Funk Railroad did a six-minute cover of “Gimme Shelter”? I’m drawn to the genre’s goofy idiosyncrasies. I cannot help laughing at James Hetfield every time I hear him end a line in a Metallica song with “-ah!” I’ve learned that whenever there’s a hair-metal song too vague and clichĂ©d to place initially, the chorus comes on and it’s always Scorpions. For every legitimately classic classic-rock song KLOS plays, there’s another that makes the argument for rewriting the genre.

Maybe it’s a masochistic impulse to seek out this kind of inconsistency. But I can sense that, after my first decade of streaming, I’ve become more prone to complacency. I like listening to rock ’n’ roll not to accent my world but rather to draw my active attention. So, to keep my ears sharp, that means occasionally resetting my brain with the loudest, brashest music in the canon, for better or worse. (Sometimes that’s a spectrum captured within one simultaneously terrible, amazing song, like Kiss’s undeniably catchy “Lick It Up.”) And then, after an hour or so of this process, classic rock gives me back something crucial that streaming has been slowly taking away: the desire to turn the music off.

‘He was the greatest thing in my life’: Family devasted after dog killed while running from vet’s office

BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio. ( WXIX /Gray News) - An Ohio family is grieving the loss of their 4-year-old dog after he escaped from a veterinarian’s office and was killed.

WXIX reported that Roscoe was getting a test done at the Animal Care Center when he got loose.

His owners, Ashlynn and Pam Hagg, told WXIX that he wasn’t gone more than six minutes before the doctors came in and notified them.

“The doctor came in and asked if we had gotten a text about Roscoe and we said, ‘no,’” Ashlynn Hagg said.

The owners said they immediately got in their car and started looking for Roscoe.

But, moments later, they received a call from a man who said he accidentally hit Roscoe.

“He stopped. He is our angel,” Pam Hagg said.

Roscoe reportedly became startled while outside on a leash at the veterinarian’s office. He pulled away from a staff member and they weren’t able to catch him, WXIX reported.

Roscoe’s owners said they have mixed feelings and they believe that it could’ve been prevented.

“They usually put a slip knot on him. I mean we’ve been going to that vet forever,” Roscoe’s owners said.

The Animal Care Center is covering burial expenses, making grief counseling available to Roscoe’s family and staff.

“He was a little bundle of joy. He was the greatest thing in my life by far and he was just such a joy to have around. He made everybody in this house life better,” Ashlynn Hagg said.
