The teacher I like most is Raman sir. He is the teacher of mathematics in our school. From the first day, all the students in the class felt very close to him because of his friendly behaviour with all of us.

He is polite and sweet natured. He is very hard-working. He loves his youngers and respects his elders. He himself is a model of good conduct. He guides us on the right path in order to make us useful and sensible citizens.

The subject of mathematics seemed very complex and difficult to me from the beginning. But he explained mathematical problems, geometry, everything so easily that I started to get very good marks in mathematics. He makes mathematics so interesting to us.

What particularly attracted me was his wide knowledge and keen interest in diverse matters. He wants his children to learn with understanding. He does not depend only on bookish knowledge. I am a student of 10th Class of a reputed private school. There are many great teachers in my school but everyone has that one teacher they are especially grateful to. Likewise, my favourite teacher is Mr Manish Khandelwal Sir. Manish Sir teaches us Maths, and he has a really attractive personality. He is very polite and humble and we all the students love him. He is also a person trusted the most by parents and teachers, as he constantly strives in creating a balanced environment in working hard at academics and having fun doing so.

Qualities of My Favorite Teacher

Manish Sir is tall and quite good looking. He is 32 years old and very experienced. His way of teaching is excellent. He believes in simple living and high thinking. All the students love him for his superb way of teaching and humble behaviour. He has an experience of 9 years in education, and he has done masters in Mathematics. He easily solves complicated mathematical equations.

He has a unique way of explaining his methods of solving problems. This way, he makes even the most complex of problems look simple and makes it very easy to understand for all students. He has all favourite teacher qualities in him, and has an exceptional amount of patience, which is one of the reasons why everyone considers him as the best teacher. He explains every question or doubt with so much patience and clarity and makes sure you understand them thoroughly.

He has an excellent command of English and unlike most teachers out there for whom writing impositions, formulas and theorems are important, he focuses more on logical reasoning rather than memorising complicated equations. He is very disciplined and punctual and ensures that we follow these principles as well. He understands the importance of time and always comes on time. He possesses many of such appreciable qualities which are commendable and highly appreciated by students who want to pursue these qualities as well.

He is very enthusiastic but he is not too pushy and allows us to make the decisions on our own. He perfectly understands the balance between study and extracurricular activities and helps us stay on track with both. He believes in the overall development of the students and thus encourages students to participate in extracurricular activities.

He prepares students for Maths olympiads so that their confidence can be boosted and they excel in a complex subject like Maths. Under his guidance, many students have won prizes in Maths olympiads, and even I have scored the highest marks securing the first position in many Maths competitions. He is an asset to our school as he has played a massive role in improving the overall image of our school including co-curricular and academic aspects and we students are fortunate to have him.

What Makes Him My Favourite Teacher?

Manish Sir is my favourite teacher because he is very humble, kind and polite. I love his way of teaching. He loves all students and doesn't believe in punishing them. He focuses more on conceptual clarity than burdening students with excessive homeworks. He never scolds students and never expresses his concerns in the form of anger. Instead, he talks to the students personally in a calm manner, in a way that helps us improve and wants to put in more effort.

He asks students to be honest with him and always gives equal attention to all the students. He never makes fun of any students and gives extra attention to the weak students. Whenever a student fails to understand any question or equation, he puts extra effort to make him understand, and never tends to lose patience. He calmly explains no matter how many times he has to repeat the same question or statement. He is focused on making us understand every concept with utmost clarity and that is the reason why all students love him.

One of my most favourite qualities of Manish sir is that he keeps track of every student in the class; how they are performing or what are the things they are good at. He constantly keeps an eye out for everyone in the class and helps them to improve themselves and guides them throughout the learning process. He is one of the best teachers in our school who keeps constantly motivating their students and guiding them in all spheres of life. Manish sir is especially known for not showing even the tiniest amount of favouritism. He treats all his students with an equal amount of fondness and love and cares for every one of us deeply.

He is very experienced and full of life. He tends to keep the entire class on a positive note and never exhibits any behaviour that deteriorates other people. He is concerned about people’s feelings and never hurts anybody. He is very sober and has a great sense of humour. His mathematical knowledge is very vast. Apart from being good at mathematics, he also preaches the importance of having sound knowledge in English and literature.

He loves reading books and always encourages students to spare some time to read novels instead of doing mindless activities like watching tv or playing video games. He also advises us to get more physical activity and play with other people our age and interact more as it would improve communication. He advises students to pursue their hobbies or interests. He understands students' problems and always provides them with a helping hand. He explains everything with examples and makes every concept so interesting to learn for students.

We students love to attend his class because he is very understanding. He covers each topic in detail and gives his full attention in class. He would be the first one to notice if even a single student loses track or starts dozing off. He would just suggest an alternative method or a simpler explanation instead of blaming the student for not paying enough attention to the class. He knows how to draw students' attention in class. He never assigns us too much homework, and after class, he provides us with regular assignments to assess our understanding of a particular topic.

The assignments are often designed to be more informative and research-oriented rather than just making us write down questions or paragraphs from the book and memorise them. By actually going through related articles and books, we gain a greater amount of knowledge and this way, we tend to remember what we learn for a long time as well.

In case if any student fails to do the assignment or performs poorly in a particular chapter, he doesn't shout at them but instead makes them understand the concept again. This way, we students understand that whatever he is doing is for our own benefit and we tend to work harder to improve ourselves. These are a few of the things he does that makes him different from the other teachers and appears approachable to everyone around him. I have never seen a humble and polite teacher like him, and one day I will try to be like him in my career.

Manish Sir is not just a great teacher but also my ideal person. He has all the favourite teacher qualities, and everyone loves him. I am lucky to be his student, and I will always follow his principles in my life. Even after leaving this school, he will remain my favourite teacher, and I will never forget him. I will always remember what he has taught me through example, and I will try to be a great person like him in the future.

Mr. Anurag is about 34 years of age, tall, smart and has a tough look. He also knows karate. He believes in high thinking and simple living and thus, always wears simple clothes and looks so sober. His manners are pleasing and liked by all. He is also an experienced English teacher.

He has masters or postgraduate degrees both in History and English. Also, he is very soft-spoken and yet strict in discipline. The best part of him is that he doesn’t believe in physical punishment. I have never seen him giving any kind of punishment to anyone. Rather disciplined is maintained nicely in his class. He has some positive influence on us.

He has perfect command over History and English. His knowledge of Indian history and English literature is very good. His pronunciation is perfect, accurate and very clear. I feel fortunate to be his student and so other students also feel the same. He looks upon us as his own sons and takes a lot of interest in solving our school and personal problems.

He is also the principal advisor of our school drama club and also prepares students for English debate and elocution contests. He often tells us that honesty and a heart-to-heart talk is the best way to strengthen a relationship. Sometimes I fail to hand in my homework on time, but he is happy when I tell him the truth – in other words, I have to be honest with him. She speaks sweetly and is adorable. The best part of my teacher is that she never scolds me when I get a sum incorrect. With lots of patience, she points out the wrong and corrects me. And He has acquired his masters degree and other postgraduate degrees in both English and History and this makes him an immensely knowledgeable teacher. While he is strict about his discipline, he is also soft-spoken at the same time.

What I like most in him is that he is someone who has never believed in punishing his students physically. Never have I ever seen him punishing his students physically. Instead of that, he tries to maintain proper discipline in class. This quality of his has had a good effect on all his students.

He has a sea of knowledge on English Literature and Indian history and students are awestruck at his perfect command over both the subjects. His way of pronouncing words is perfect and clear.

I am really lucky to get him as my History teacher in my twelfth standard as this is the most crucial year for me. He treats us as his own children and always shows interest in solving all our personal problems.

Reasons why he is my favorite teacher

When he teaches us history in his powerful voice, the classes become extremely interesting. While there are many who feel that history is a boring subject, once you sit in Mr. Mennon’s class, you’ll never feel the same again.

When you listen attentively to his words, you’ll feel as if you’re watching a video. He has had first-hand experiences in traveling to several historical destinations and hence he can give us better examples. Such an experience makes our lessons memorable.

His speeches on history are educative, informative, interesting and full of literary references. While he is sober and serious at times, he is also a humorous person. Due to his immense popularity among his students, there are many other teachers who feel jealous about him.

He once visited the Qutub shahi tombs and Nizam palace of Hyderabad. After he came back, we were amazed to know about the level of information and knowledge that he had gathered from the historical places.

He related to so many nice things about those places and the Mughal generations. Our history chapter that was related to this place became ever memorable due to the first-hand lessons that he imparted to us.

He is the one who always told us that having a heart-to-heart talk to a close person and honesty is the best way in which you can strengthen any relation. There were times when I missed doing my homework but if I told him the truth, he would be happy.

He is not someone who sets too many rules in class and hence he gives us lots of space in the classroom.

History turns out to be my favorite subject only because I got him as my history teacher. He expects pin-drop-silence in class when he teaches so that he could focus on the topic that he talks on. He has enough ability to draw attention of the students.

Narrative Essay: My Favorite Teacher

Introduction

My favorite teacher of all time has to be my English literature teacher. He was called Mr. Radford, and Mr. Radford is my favorite teacher for many reasons, all of which I will go over as they happened. The course of events goes from my first year to my last year of high school.

Taught me history

My favorite teacher was my English literature teacher. He started out as my history teacher and made a first impression as a bit of a stuffy old man. He believed in god, even though most of the class didn’t, and he was known for shouting at kids. He was also oddly loved by the older students, and nobody in the first year knew why as we sat in class before him.

The world is flat

He started a lesson by telling us the world is flat. He said he could prove it and encouraged the class to quiz him on it. We spent the whole lesson arguing fiercely that the world was round, but every answer, reason or evidence we gave to him was thrown back with a plausible theory. He explained why we do not fall off of the end of the earth, and gave even more convincing reasons was to why a compass points north and south. As the bell went and we were all about to leave, he said to us, “That is the reception Copernicus got when he tried to explain that the earth was not the center of the universe.”

Had a triple heart bypass

He vanished and we were told he had a triple heart bypass. The support he got from the students was legendary. Shortly before he came back, our English teacher (who was also a fantastic man) died of leukemia. Mr. Fawdry was a great man and treated his students with the same respect he gave adults.

Came back as an English literary teacher

Mr. Radford came back and started to teach English instead of History. He was still the Principal’s second in command, but had decided to change to history. The man who now taught history was a spotty young man who could not handle the class. Veteran teachers had trouble controlling the classes, so having this man teach History was like throwing a lamb to the wolves. Mr. Radford always had control of his class, and even once told of the brainy kid in the class for talking too much (which was a great moment for all of us).

He thought he was history, but he still has a story to live

Mr. Radford stopped teaching history and started teaching English. It was weird seeing him in a new setting, but the class structure and respect level stayed the same. He did not even look ill after having the surgery; although he probably had a lot of time to recover, (it gets harder to remember these days).

Who is making all of this noise?

This was a classic line that he gave as he burst out of his English class. The hallways were always a riot as kids moved from one class to another. He was used to being locked in the dungeon that was the history department. The English class was next to the main hallway. He burst out of his classroom into the crowded hallway and yelled, “Who the hell is making all of this noise.” A young first year student who had only been there a week said, “You are.”

Teachers give you last year’s tests to look at so you can see what it going to be on the exams. They have you do mock tests and they point out the important stuff you need to remember. Mr. Radford gave quality advice that nobody else ever said. For example, he said to use the phrase “of which” in a sentence, as it demonstrates a higher level of English that will get you into the higher grade margins.

He was the only one to outwardly defend me in class

Most kids are bullied in school, and I was called names and picked on all the time. It wasn’t a physical thing, just a constant stream of name-calling. I was used to getting it all day every day. It was only in his class where he once said, “Would you leave him alone.” It’s strange how stuff like that is remembered. My Geography teacher did it once too. Mr. Whitaker said, “Would you lay off him” which is also something I remember because teachers used to just let it happen.

He was smart enough to see past Steven Cardwell

In an English Lit class, Mr. Radford said something about John Wayne, and for some reason I said, “Take it away pilgrim” in a normal volume but as a John Wayne impression. Steven Cardwell did a gasp and an “aww” as if I had said something very offensive. Usually, this made the teacher holler at whoever spoke with the assumption that Steven’s reaction was warranted. Mr. Radford didn’t fall for it. He just asked what I said and said no more about it. I had watched countless other kids get in trouble because of Steven, but Mr. Radford didn’t fall for it.

He taught me how to think.

The “world is flat” lesson really got to me. It is the first time I started to question what I am supposed to “know” and what is supposedly true. He taught me to think so that even in the later years when he was teaching English, I could see past the text interpret it in a multitude of logical ways.

1. name, age and dressing sense –.

The name of my favourite teacher is Mr S.N. Singh. He is fifty-five years old and so simple that he comes to school by bicycle.

He was never ashamed of riding a bicycle despite being the headmaster of my school.

In addition, he looks very simple and his dressing sense is so old that no one can consider him a headmaster.

Usually, he wears a dhoti kurta but sometimes he comes to school in kurta pyjama. He also wears jeans and a t-shirt on some special days.

Although he prefers to wear normal slippers but when he wears jeans and a t-shirt or kurta pyjama, he likes to wear Bata shoes.

2. Inner qualities, qualification and subjects he teaches –

Despite being the headmaster of the school, he leads a simple life and always encourages the students to think high.

Being a headmaster, he has a lot of work to do, yet he takes periods in some classes.

He believes in working with dedication.

If a student has difficulty in understanding the concepts of the subject, he tries his best to explain it to the student even after the class.

He is a well-qualified teacher in the school. His higher education is M.Ed. and he also obtained a degree in yoga.

Sometimes, he teaches yoga to the children.

He is adroit in two subjects that are English and Mathematics, but I think that he is more interested in English.

So, he takes more classes in English subject.

3. Services to the school –

He has been working in this school since 2016. When he joined the school, he was an assistant teacher.

After five years of working, he was promoted to headmaster of the school. In 2018, he started yoga classes for all the students so that they can stay healthy and fit.

At present, he is teaching subjects as well as teaching students how to do yoga. From the date of joining, the results have been wonderful.

Sometimes, he takes interest in doing debates among the students. When any jubilee is celebrated in school, he gives a long speech on that.

He has all those qualities which should be in an ideal teacher. He is a very sympathetic and benign person.

Additionally, he is very popular in my school due to being well-educated and having more skills. Such teachers are rarely found in schools but I am very lucky.

As Kyiv's air defence missiles battled a Russian hypersonic Zircon rocket, we were set to visit schoolchildren for a lesson about their favourite rooms. Instead, a 10-year-old Ukrainian boy told me 'a bomb's destroyed my home'

T he time is 10.31am in central Kyiv and I am people-watching from my bedroom window at the start of yet another air raid alert. Far below me pedestrians are still strolling, in the complacent way they do after two years of a war that is mostly fought elsewhere, or else not fought at this time of day.

But it is always wrong to assume and, only seconds after the sirens have begun to wail, there is a succession of terrific explosions very close by.

A Zircon hypersonic cruise missile — Russia 's most advanced weapon — has been intercepted by Ukrainian air defence missiles over the heart of the metropolis, perhaps half a mile from my hotel.

The detonations galvanise the pedestrians below like the starter's gun to an Olympic sprinter. They scatter and the streets are suddenly empty, as a chorus of car alarms triggered by the blasts competes with the sirens.

There was no time for anyone to reach the bomb shelters because the missile is so fast — an alleged top speed of Mach 9 (almost 6,000mph) — and was launched from occupied Crimea only a few hundred miles to the south. It arrived over Kyiv before the local air defences could give proper warning.

But even an intercepted missile causes chaos. The parts fall into the city centre, injuring nine. Social media will show CCTV footage from inside a bustling cafe as its windows were blown in and a cake stand collapsed. Another film shows a stream of children running terrified from their school to a shelter.

I find out later the attack is the first time the Kremlin has used a hypersonic missile against Ukraine in daylight, opening another grim chapter in this bleak war.

Over the past ten days, a resurgent Russia has increased the tempo of its missile strikes against targets behind Ukrainian frontlines, leaving the nation's energy infrastructure severely damaged.

Kyiv, which was targeted by a 30-strong ballistic and cruise missile blitz on a single night last week, is once again a city that is sleep-deprived and under regular attack. Most hard hit, psychologically, are the children.

This week the Mail was given an insight into the strain that war has put on the school-age youngsters who remain here — and into the British-run programmes for Ukrainian teachers trying to help pupils cope.

For the past 90 years, the British Council has been promoting educational and cultural connections between the UK and the rest of the world. Since the Russian invasion, the Foreign Office-sponsored organisation has been more deeply engaged with Ukraine. As a British diplomat here told me: 'One of the fronts of this hybrid war is the cultural one.'

This week, the British Council's chief executive Scott McDonald paid an official visit to Kyiv, his first since the seismic events of February 2022, when Putin launched his full-scale invasion.

The Mail was invited to accompany McDonald, who carried with him a letter from Buckingham Palace, conveying the 'heartfelt thanks' and 'warmest wishes' of King Charles to the dozens of Council teachers and support staff who are working on the ground here. It proved to be an instructive trip in a number of respects.

Much of McDonald's first night in the Ukrainian capital was spent sheltering in the British embassy's bomb shelter, as the sirens wailed from 4am and the missiles rained down. That blitz was the 'largest series of combined drone and missile strikes targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure since the start of the full-scale invasion,' according to the Institute for the Study of War, though this time the city of Kharkiv was the main urban target.

'I got the full experience immediately,' McDonald says wryly.

The following morning saw the weary British delegation meet a nervous, bleary-eyed city. The first and most moving appointment in the day's schedule was a visit to Gymnasium 119 in the heart of Kyiv, a state school for seven to 17-year-olds that specialises in the teaching of foreign languages, particularly English.

Before the Russian invasion, the school had 550 children. Many were taken abroad as refugees or to other, safer parts of Ukraine. Now, there are only 300 on the roll-call, including 40 internally displaced youngsters and five teachers forced to leave frontline areas.

Today, a significant number have stayed at home and will study online, because of the long air-raid alert earlier in the morning. Inside the school, you cannot escape the war. A corner of the lobby is a shrine to the (so far) four former pupils serving in Ukraine's armed forces who have been killed since the war began.

The vast basement, a warren of interconnecting rooms, has been turned into a bomb shelter to accommodate the entire school.

Even fitted out with desks, whiteboards and WiFi, to have so many stressed children packed into such a small space without doors to separate classes, for as much as five hours a day, is not conducive to normal study.

'The basement is about being safe and surviving,' explains Nataliia Tokar, the deputy principal. 'It is not about learning.' Trauma and disruption are facts of life now.

We are met by English language teachers from a number of schools who have graduated from the British Council's 'Teaching and Learning in Difficult Times' programme. The course instructs educationalists on how to support and encourage pupils during the war; to identify trauma and not only offer comfort but make allowances for it.

Challenging and disruptive behaviour in the classroom has understandably increased since the war reached Kyiv. 'But a student is not simply "naughty". He might be distressed,' says Ms Tokar. 'The course has taught us to recognise that.

'I have a boy aged ten who came to me at the start of the day and said: "I don't have a home now. It was destroyed in the bombing."

'So we have adjusted a project that was to be about "my room at home" to "the room of my dreams". The boy has no home any more but he can still dream and that is so important for a child.

'We also have a girl from Mariupol [the port city that was largely destroyed by a Russian siege] who now cannot stand loud noises. So, at break time, when the other kids are shouting, she puts on her headphones and sits in a safe corner. We have set aside specific rooms where pupils can spend time away from classmates if they need that space, or to talk quietly with someone.'

Halloween celebrations were also 'adjusted' to avoid causing distress to children who have experienced real horrors. Classes might pause for a quick yoga session to relieve tension.

Teachers also need help, as Anzhelika Buravenko, Vice Principal of School 219 in Kyiv, admits: 'We all have children who have had bad experiences and challenging stories. But that also applies to colleagues.'

Galyna Zarytska, vice principal of School 85, recalls: 'When we went on the British Council course in Poland, a [civilian] plane passed over the venue and the gooseflesh rose on my arms. That is our reality. Some of our people began crying, going crazy in the assembly hall even though we are in a safe place. That is trauma.'

Katerina teaches ten and 11-year-olds in Kyiv. She says: 'Now, in the case of an air-raid alarm, it can take two to three hours to get to school. That causes anxiety, particularly crossing the bridges [over the wide Dnieper river].

'By the time I get to school with my seven-year-old I'm already exhausted. But then I have a class of ten-year-olds who are relying on me, so I pull myself together, drink lots of coffee and put a smile on my face. Then the teaching day begins.'

A number of these teachers later attended a reception for the British Council at the UK embassy residence.

Ambassador Martin Harris, whose trip to Kharkiv scheduled for that day had been postponed due to the blitz, told the gathering: 'Russia's cruelty and violence against Ukraine has brought our two countries ever closer together. People in the UK have not only shown their support of Ukraine but have come to love and understand Ukraine.'

Meanwhile, the missiles continue to fall.

The planned Kettering plant will represent Ball's third beverage can manufacturing facility in the UK, adding capacity to its established plants in Milton Keynes and Wakefield . The plant will supply cans for domestic customers in a growing range of categories, which now includes hard seltzers, wines, ready to drink cocktails, together with pure and enhanced water brands.

To serve the fast growing Russian market, especially in the beer and energy drinks categories, Ball is planning to build a plant in Ulyanovsk in Western Russia . Ball Beverage Packaging Naro-Fominsk has signed a cooperation agreement for its construction with the Ulyanovsk Regional Government, who in June also awarded the development 'Highly Significant Investment Project' status.

The Ulynavosk plant will take the total in Russia to four, with established manufacturing facilities in Naro-Fominsk, Moscow Region; Vesvolozhsk, St. Petersburg Region; and Argayash, Chelyabinsk Region.

Aluminium drinks cans are the world's most widely recycled beverage packaging with an 82% recycling rate in the UK and 76% across Europe 1 .
